The Five Greatest 'New Moon' Trailer Reactions
Filed under: Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fandom, Trailers and Clips

Honestly, I have no idea why any fan of Twilight would film themselves in full fan-girl mode and put it out into the world to open themselves up for ridicule and contempt on a global scale, but that's is precisely what they have done. To date, hundreds of fans have posted videos of themselves giddy with the prospect of a shirtless Taylor Lautner or a glimpse of the brooding 'deer-slayer' Edward Cullen in the first trailer for New Moon. The trailer premiered during the 2009 MTV Movie Awards, and was released on the net soon after, and the dedicated have been streaming/downloading it ever since. According to MTV, there have been, "4.2 million online views in the first 24 hours, contributing to a total of 7.8 million streams in the first seven days." And those fans are showing no signs of stopping.
I don't know why, but watching these videos is fascinating; I mean, this is like a tween version of the 2 Girls 1 Cup Reactions. You have your choice of seeing girls watch it in stone faced silence (but you know their inner fan-girl is squealing) and then there are those who frankly you just kind of feel bad for them (if you want to see an exercise in humiliation take a look at some of the comments that follow these videos). Personally, I like to play a game where I try and pinpoint the exact moment that Lautner or Robert Pattinson appear on screen by the glazed look that slowly takes over, but I've got a strange sense of humor.
Check out our picks for the five greatest New Moon trailer reactions after the jump ...
1. Yes, even boys are allowed to completely freak out over The Twilight Saga
2. I guess this is happens when you take Twilight a little too seriously.
3. These three gals provide some very funny NSFW commentary.
4. These two spend equal amounts of time squealing and shushing each other.
5. This girl may need to seek medical attention on November 20th if a trailer has her this worked up.
I know you are sick to death of hearing about it, but like it or not, The Twilight Saga is a bona fide phenomenon. For those of us that just don't 'get it', I guess we will just have to ride it out until sparkly vampires and cuddly werewolves are a distant memory. But, try not to be too hard on these girls (and occasional guy); remember, we were all young once.

This article proves, yet once again, that little girls are stupid.

I guess the one thing you can say is that there isn't pretty much anything in the world that would make me HALF as excited as some of these girls (and guys who apparently act like girls)

When I was a coming-out queer kid in the mid-to-late '80s, those of us that wore skinny ties, blazers and piled our quiffs atop our heads like so many loaves of French bread had only the Smiths, Drama Club and 120 Minutes to get this worked up about. It's fascinating, 20-plus years on, to see this wave of highly-excitable, fluttery-handed homoteens (I think my grandmother used the term "theatrical" and/or "sensitive") find their goth groove.

I think all teenagers go wild over some thing but posting it for everyone to see is the true phenomenon and kind of falls into the pitiful realm of wannabes. They clearly will never be cast as a leading nothing but being on a screen, even if it's small, makes their day, makes them a part of the saga. Imagine being locked in that room with no way of putting yourself out of your misery...creepy!

You know I love the Twilight saga very much, but when I see videos of idiocy it makes me wonder where the parents are of these kids and why they let their kids put themselves on the internet like that. It's really ridiculous. No wonder Robert Pattison is afraid of the fans, I would be too if they acted like that around me. Goes to show you really can post anything on the internet.

I hate to be the loser that actually says this, but why is it that everyone makes a comment about the "were"wolves not looking right? In "New Moon" it says that they are big wolves. It is explained in later books that they aren't actually werewolves but shape shifters. It just makes me giggle how crazy about the series these people are yet they don't know how to pay attention to detail. Props to the designer of the wolves. They are exactly what they were supposed to be.
Hilarious and sad at the same time.

If someone had a camera on me when I first saw the Phantom Menace trailer and Darth Maul pulls out that double-sided lightsaber, my reaction would not have looked much different.
I guess what I'm trying to say is dreams die fast, kids.

I didn't see the premiere on MTV, but I managed to watch it during 7th period. And I'm proud to say I watched it silently with no reaction until some excited "Oh my God"'s when I saw how well they did Jake's wolf form.

Have we reached a point of self-centered narcissism where young people actually believe that their reaction to a movie trailer is worthy of being posted online for mass viewing? It's possible that our whole culture has now "jumped the shark"

Oh let them have their fun! Why do you have to analyze and comment negatively? You're too cool to get excited over a movie, or hot looking guys, or special effects.... then continue clicking and typing.

Speaking as a teenage girl who DOES NOT have any interest in the Twilight Saga what so ever, I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The books/movies don't appeal to me in anyway, and I am tired of all the melodramatic hype that surrounds it.
HOWEVER does it really matter whether other teens want to squeal and jump around because they're excited for a new movie? Hell when I saw the Watchmen trailer, I was just acted just as stupid as they did (and yeah, I loved the movie). What's wrong with it?
For me when Twilight comes up my mind shuts off because I don't give a crap, but I let those around me enjoy themselves because I'm sure there's things that I like that my friends/peers think is just as stupid.
The point is that if you don't like it, fine, but leave the people alone who do because there's nothing you can say or do that will change their minds.

To Riley,
Wow, this is a very well written comment.
You will get a lot of respect from both sides of the Twilight Saga Phemomenon (those who like it and those who don't).
I personally am in love with Twilight, and I do understand why people would react this way when they see the new moon trailer for the first time. I was excited too,but not to the point where I was screaming outloud. People all react differently.
I like how you don't automatically insult people who like twilight, but you allow them to enjoy it. Sorry, I just had to tell you how insightful I thought your comment was. :)
