Great Movies You Won't Watch More Than Once

While zoning out during the baseball game last night, a random thought popped into my head: "Ya know, I don't think I'd ever watch Atonement again." Don't ask me where these stupid random thoughts come from, or why I was thinking about Atonement when it wasn't on TV or anything, but the thought came from somewhere and so I began to pursue it a little. The end result came in the form of a question I posed on Twitter: Name some great movies that for some reason or another you wouldn't watch more than once.
I thought Atonement was a good film; I really enjoyed it. But I have no need to watch it again ... just because. A whole bunch of people responded to my Twitter question (thanks everyone!), and a pretty big majority of them went with Requiem for a Dream, which I completely understand. (I love you Jennifer Connelly, but you're a freaky mess in this flick.) Some other films mentioned include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Irreversible, Dear Zachary, United 93, Citizen Kane, Leaving Las Vegas, Beauty and the Beast, Battleship Potemkin, Monster, Se7en, High Fidelity and The Machinist.
Now it's your turn: Give us a great film you won't watch more than once, and why.

Hotel Rwanda. Powerful story, quality acting...but one time is the charm for that one.

I've always called Hotel Rwanda "The best film I never want to see again". It's an incredible movie, I'm glad I've seen it, but it's just far too painful to watch.

That's the one I was going to say, but there's also the Ivan the Terrible duo and plenty of others that are either too long or too depressing to watch more than once.

I agree. Even when it's on TV and I stumble across it, I have to change the channel. It's not because it's bad, it's because it's so good that it's heartbreaking.
I'd also add the Lord of the Rings Triology and Titanic. Basically any loooong epic movie constitues as one I don't think I'll ever see again.

Schindler's List for me as well. Excellent movie, one I think everyone MUST see ... but too heartbreaking to watch more than the once.

I don't think Fargus understood the question.
I'd pick any doc. by Michael Moore. Once is quite enough of that baloney.

"Great movies you wont watch more than once"
Seven was mentioned as a candidate, I said I watch it at least once a YEAR(obviously more than ONCE) Hence me questioning why someone would put it on the list. Perhaps you didn't understand my response....

You weren't clear in your response.
I misinterpreted it because of that.

I don't think Mike understood the question, either. It's GREAT movies you won't watch more than once. If you don't like Michael Moore, it probably isn't great for you.
DEAD MAN WALKING. Just knowing we're going to have to see the rape and murder is too much for me to ever bear again.

Memento. You can only watch it again when you forget the ending.

I've seen "Memento" about six times. It gets better every time. You pick up more details and start to question who is right, Teddy or Leonard, and whether or not Sammy Jankis was real or made up.

I actually happen to own Memento. Watched it dozens of times, althought I could only watch it once in the alternate chronological viewing.

memento is more the kind of movie you *should* watch more than once, to really appreciate.

I won't ever say I won't watch a movie a second time.
I made that mistake once. I saw "fight club" in the theaters, and HATED IT. I couldn't stand the movie. It was the worst movie I had EVER seen. I couldn't believe I wasted my life on something like that.
My friend had it on one day, almost a year after it came out on DVD and I got sucked in. I totally did a 180 and was stunned at how AMAZING that movie is. It became one of my all time favorites EVER. I watch it once every 6 months just because it's so good.
So I won't ever say I will only watch a movie only 1 time, no matter how good, or how bad it is. I don't care how heart wrenching, or how painful it is the first time, multiple viewings always help you appreciate the perspective even more.

2 movies immediately came to mind:
Monster's Ball (2001)
Downloading Nancy (2008)
So depressing...loved them both, but I don't want to end up in the bath with a razor.
