Ladies and Gentlemen! A Brand-New Movie Geeklet!
If things seem a little crazy at Cinematical this week, it's because our esteemed EIC, Erik Davis, and his lovely wife Jocelyn are welcoming their first baby! The adorable Zoe Sophia Davis was born this past Saturday, 7 pounds 2 ounces, and perfectly flawless in every way. (Erik totally denies that Zoe was named for the Gina Torres character in Firefly, but I'm pushing that rumor just so Whedonesque.com picks the story up.) Please join the Cinematical / Moviefone / Horror & SciFi Squad family in congratulating Erik and Jocelyn and welcoming a tiny new movie geek to the world!

One request from the proud papa: What should Zoe's FIRST movie be? (He refused to ask me for fear I'd say Friday the 13th or something.)

First movie?
The original "Fantasia" of course!
She'll see dancing hippos, pastoral settings, and gorgeous colors set to classical music. Re-released on DVD, of course.
This movie was loved by my kids and grandkids, even before they could walk or talk.
Congratulations to the new baby and family!

Congrats Erik and Jocelyn! But I assumed when first reading the name that it was a tribute to the Coppolas (Zoe from American Zoetrope and Sophia, even though it's Sofia Coppola). Either way, beautiful baby and name.
Her first film should definitely be My Neighbor Totoro!

Congrats!
Once she can SEE colour, there are plenty of animated options out there. Fantasia, anything by Miyazaki, and of course countless other Disney options.
But my vote?
The Princess Bride.

I like the suggestions above, Serenity and The Princess Bride... Also pre-fixup Star Wars.
I'd like to suggest Finding Nemo or Beauty and the Beast. My firstborn loved Beauty and the Beast almost before she could talk.
