Exclusive 'G.I. Joe' Character Poster - Ripcord

Cinematical has received this exclusive character poster for the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe movie, which is one of several debuting online today. Recent rumors suggested the film wasn't testing well and the studio wasn't all too happy with the final product, but we've been told otherwise and, in fact, people are really diggin' G.I. Joe so far. And I hope so, because I really want this film to be kick ass. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who grew up playing with the G.I. Joe action figures, making them square off against Star Wars figures only to have someone like Snake Eyes come down and kick the crap out of Luke Skywalker. (Hey, when it comes to action figures, that's just how I rolled back in the day.)
And hey, who can beat a cast that features Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Channing Tatum, Rachel Nichols, Christopher Eccleston and Marlon Wayans (among others)? You can catch the trailer for G.I. Joe over on Moviefone, and click the image below to see the full poster of Wayans' Ripcord character. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hits theaters August 7.

I know that this picture is not of her, but is it just me or are they really pushing The Baroness more than anything else with this movie? She looks great, so it's not like I'm complaining, just an observation.

Told by who, Stephen Sommers publicist? Only someone in marketing would use the word diggin' anyways. Yay- payola hits Cinematical! I'm a little sad to see your asking price is a lame poster of ahem Marlon Wayans... Next time at least insist on a few bucks.

and you saw the movie when, exactly? Look, no one is paying us off in anything -- this is what I've been told, and I'm really not the type to wish hell on a movie -- I really do want this flick to kick ass. But don't accuse us of taking a pay off of some kind -- the fact remains that none of us know how good or bad the film is until it hits theaters, so let's all hope that it's good and move on with our lives.

As I recall Titanic was supposed to suck but it did pretty well I believe. Not that I am comparing the two.

Didn't say you were influenced with anything other than a poster cross-promo, Erik. And you're right I haven't seen the movie but really who's actually 'diggin' it? Why not just write, 'the studio hopes otherwise' and leave it at that. Word from every source that isn't the studio is this is a bomb of epic proportions.
I mean really, the trailers look awful from a director with a proven track record of making awful (Van Helsing anyone?). And if you are a true G.I. Joe fan I suggest you check out the G.I. Joe: Resolute cartoon series instead, which this movie dreams it was.

Charges of Payola are over the line but, in the interest of journalistic integrity Erik, can you tell us WHO is diggin' this movie (that has seen more than a trailer) and where their comments can be found? Also, who told you that the studio was happy with the final product and that the rumors of it testing poorly were untrue? The studio? I'm sorry but I'm a bit skeptical if the studio who wrote the checks for this flick are telling you "It's great! Trust us!"

The "G.I. Joe" movie looks epically bad. This movie not only looks like the worst movie of the summer, but could contend for one of the worst of the decade.

I'm taking issue with the fact that because someone sends you an "exclusive" movie poster you feel obliged to post it.
I actually have a picture of a really really impressive log in the toilet, if I gave you an exclusive would you run it please?. As the producer of the log I'm quite happy with how it turned out and the people who've seen it are really digging it.

People, can't we all just get along? All the studios have to do for everyone to "dig it" is change the name to "Team America, World Police, The Live Action Version" and we will all flood to see Scarlett and our wallets get pooped on for a horrible, shameful movie.

So, the only brother they have in this movie is someone named "Ripcord" who is played by a known clown. I thought the first "Joe" movie would incorporate the original brother "Stalker". One more dump on our collective childhoods for the sake of entertainment.

Is the movie like the cartoon ....No. Is It like the comic ........No. Is Ray Park playing Snake eyes going to kick ass ...Yea. Is It an original idea on a well known base of characters...Yea. Look at Transformers and what they did with that. Bloggers said " this movie is nothing like the original transformers".No Duh! It was a great movie based on known characters. If the first screenings suck then don't go. If you think the idea about the movie sucks...don't go. If you think it might be cool to see anew spin on characters you already know about this maybe the movie to see. By the way I thought Star Trek was awsome and all the haters were wrong about that movie.
