Frank Marshall Confirms 'Indy 5' IS On the Horizon

Mere days after Shia LaBeouf gleefully announced that Steven Spielberg had "cracked" the story for Indiana Jones 5 comes another confirmation that it'll rear its ugly head. Empire Online caught up with Indiana Jones' longtime producer, Frank Marshall, who didn't go so far as to green-light it, but revealed that they'll start hashing out ideas before too long."It's really about the script," said Marshall. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!" But he quickly added that he really didn't know what Spielberg was cooking. "Until there's a script, nothing's definite. I haven't heard the idea." (He should ask LaBeouf. I bet he knows.) Marshall also confirmed that Lucas, Spielberg, and Ford were equally eager to return for a fifth outing. "Yeah. We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We're not getting any younger."
While talk is talk, and plans vanish, bear in mind that they were already chattering about a fifth outing before Kingdom of the Crystal Skull hit theaters, and were still dreaming of it after, despite the negative reviews and fan backlash. I have no doubt it'll happen regardless of what the fans say or think. When it does, that shrieking sound you hear? That'll be the death cry of my fangirl soul ... and I'm sure it won't be the only lament visited upon the heavens.

I'm among the legion that thought 4 was a waste of my time. A few "Indy" moments does not make up for the rest of the film being full of crap, cheese, and idiocy.
5 will also undoubtedly suck, because there will once again be emphasis on making it "fun" instead of "good".
But do as I do. Ignore it once it's done. I'll probably waste money on it when it's on VoD, but that will be the only time I watch it. I've practically forgotten there were 3 Star Wars prequels, and have no intention of adding Indy 4 to my collection. Life is better when you pretend that George Lucas moved to a hut in the mountains and lived as a hermit instead of messing up his past glories.

I think if they take into account where Indy 4 went wrong (I personally didn't mind it, it was O.K) than they could probably make a pretty good send off to the character.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
My worst fears have been realized! I gave Steven Spielberg a lot more credit than this. Don't they realize when to just let a good thing freaking die?!?!?!
Unlike many, I actually very much enjoyed the fourth Indiana Jones film even if it starred Shia Lebouf. One part that I liked though was the fact that the ending of the film completely killed the idea of another Indiana Jones film happening. Apparently that means nothing to Frank Marshall, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, and Shia Lebouf.
I swear if they make the fifth film about Mutt inheriting his father's title, I won't go see it.
Actually, I won't see it period. People make me so mad sometimes!!!

I grew up watching Indiana Jones. I used to dress up as Indy. I had the fedora, the whip, a belt for a plastic pistol. Indy is the heart and soul of my movie experiences when it comes back to the beginning. There is no way in hell that the fourth one was going to create the same magic for me as the original trilogy because to me, they're just untouchable. Having said that, I really enjoyed the fourth one for what it was. I didn't have a problem with the aliens. At all. And the whole nuclear-fridge thing was silly, but I feel like some people got too damn nitpicky about other things, but maybe that's just me. What was so exciting for me was that Indy was on the big screen again. I got chills when the theme song kicked in...that was such a cool moment. It's not a classic, nor would I venture to say it was a "great" movie, but it was good. Worth my time, for sure. As far as a fifth one, my expectations will be about the same...entertaining, nostalgic, fun...but not like the originals. But I mean really, how could I NOT watch Indiana Jones?

Hopefully it will be just Indy in a fun classic romp with none of the family and other pointless characters from IV in tow. Everyone was convinced Harrison Ford was too old to play Indy but that was really the least of the problems with Skull.

I came into the whole Indy series late, not having seen the original trilogy until early last year, months before Kingdom's release. Maybe that's why I was able to enjoy the fourth film. I didn't have any long-standing preconceptions of what a fourth film should be.
I think it's become an unnecessary whipping-boy, an overreaction of insatiable fanboys. Fact is, most people find something to complain about with everything nowadays. Yet, somehow, everywhere I turn people just can't wait to see the next Transformers. Go figure.

wait...so Indy 4 was supposed to be a serious sequel?
I thought it was supposed to be a really bad parody of the Indiana Jones series. Indy 5...yikes.
Whether you're a fanboy of Indy since the beginning or a johnny-come-lately, the movie still sucked woolly mammoth junk. Definitely not wasting money on Indy 5, unless it's called "Indiana Jones and the Slow Painful Death"

1. keep it honest
2. holy relics, only
3. do not let lucas anywhere near it except to make sure indy's hat isn't crooked.
then you might have a good film.

Maybe, as with Temple of Doom, Spielberg realizes they screwed up and feels he needs to make good with the fans with another shot. Honestly, could they go anywhere but up?
