Box Office: Bruno Loves Beth Cooper (But Just As a Friend)

The eternal struggle between digitally animated robots and digitally animated dinosaurs made for a close fight but Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen overtook newcomer Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs by a couple of pixel lengths. Johnny Depp's historical drama Public Enemies took a respectable third place. Here's the top five:

1. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: $42.3 million
2. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: $41.7 million
3. Public Enemies: $25.2 million
4. The Proposal: $12.8 million
5. The Hangover: $11.2 million

Two more new releases to watch for this week:

Bruno
What's It All About:
Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen brings another of his characters to the big screen. This time he plays Bruno, a flamboyantly gay Austrian fashionista.
Why It Might Do Well:
Rottentomatoes.com gives the movie an 83% fresh rating. Borat took in $128 million domestically and $261 million worldwide.
Why It Might Not Do Well: The Bruno character seems even more irritating than Borat.
Number of Theaters:
2,700
Prediction:
$36 million

I Love You Beth Cooper
What's It All About:
A nerdy valedictorian proclaims his love for a popular cheerleader during his graduation speech, which subsequently leads to the craziest night of life.
Why It Might Do Well:
Heroes star Hayden Panettiere plays the object of nerdly desire.
Why It Might Not Do Well: A light teen romantic comedy like this is going to get eaten alive by all the other films in current release.
Number of Theaters:
1,900
Prediction:
$12 million

This week's prediction seems pretty straight forward, but then I've said that before and found myself eating dirt. Anyway, here's how I think it will play out.
1. Bruno
2. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
3. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
4. Public Enemies
5. I Love You Beth Cooper
