Ryan Reynolds, Bradley Cooper, Justin Timberlake Finalists for 'Green Lantern'

Hal Jordan might just be bringing sexy back. Or he might look an awful lot like Deadpool. Or he might just have a really wicked hangover. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros and director Martin Campbell have narrowed he who will wear the ring to three candidates: afore-mentioned Bradley Cooper , Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Timberlake. (Give one up for Ain't It Cool News, who had Timberlake in the suit on Thursday.) Lest you think these are just overblown screentests, THR reports that Timberlake, Cooper, and Reynolds all had holding deals with the studio, though all three expired Monday. That puts the clock to ticking and will force the studio to make a decision soon, as they'll be free to accept new roles. They've all done two rounds of screen tests, and survived the other finalists, including Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill, and Jared Leto.
So, there you have it. My personal pick would be Cooper, because Reynolds is already associated with Deadpool, and I don't like my superheroes crossing over into other superhero roles. I think we all know that if Timberlake nabs the role, all hell is going to break loose, though I'm willing to keep an open mind. The most unlikely choices have consistently worked for superhero roles, and Timberlake could shock everyone. Besides, it's not that hard to see -- he's got the cockiness of a test pilot, the charisma of a superhero, the physicality for the stuntwork, and the cleft chin. He's proved to be a capable actor, and I really think time and experience could make him into a very good one. The only real issue I see with it is that it smacks of stunt casting, and a way to lure in audience members who wouldn't know Abin Sur from Ras al Ghul.

Like you said I'll try to keep an open mind, but I'm not excited about any of these choices. I'm going to have to hope for Cooper as well.

Big boo.
Wasn't Brian Austin Green also in the running for this one? He would have kicked ass.
Nothing personal against these three guys, it's just that I can't remember any of their characters that had any life or personality to them.
I guess with studio executives like these, it's no wonder that memorable blockbusters happen once every two years.
Note to self: skip Green Lantern.

Damn, that trailer is pretty badass. Great job on it. I'm not so sure about Timberlake playing a superhero, but they could do worse I suppose. Just cast somebody already and get this movie off the ground.

Um - I thought Reynold's was doing Deadpool - granted thats Marvel and not DC - two well known characters is too much for one guy in my opinion...JT is an interesting choice - though very risky.
I still would like to know why Nathan Fillion is not attached to this already - he would be perfect for Hal Jordan...nevermind that he is older than the other contenders...Hal is a RETIRED pilot right.
Still excited about this any way they choose to go.

Why don't they just keep Fillion?

Fillion on Brian Austin Green. With any of these other choices the picture will have to rely too much on broad comedy.

I dunno; I kind of like the idea of Tmberlake playing Gardner, but in a JLI context.

None of them were at the top of my wish list, but any of the three should be good id given a good script. I feel sorry for Henry Cavill. He missed out on Superman, and now GL. He's a very good actor. Maybe he'll get into the mix for Captain Marvel. Whenever the Shazam! movie gets going.

I hate to say it cause of the obvious reasons but JT is a talented mfer and I'm sure he'd put a cool spin on this if he gets it. The people laughing at this are the same clowns who said they wouldn't see TDK when Heath Ledger was cast.

I like Ryan Reynolds, but that's just because I want him to headline something already, and there's no guarantee we're going to see that Deadpool spinoff. Cooper - meh. Timberlake, I like the guy, but for Green Lantern? I don't really see him as a test pilot type, do you?
