Robert De Niro and Jonah Hill Join Rodriguez's 'Machete'?
(if this rumor is true, we officially have the strangest casting of 2009 so far. Here's Elisabeth Rappe reporting on a wicket Machete rumor for Horror Squad.)While you'll have to file this firmly under "rumor" and "dreams," you can do an air punch at the very thought of just who Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis lined up for Machete. Bloody Disgusting reports that joining Danny Trejo in the Grindhouse spin-off are the following: Michelle Rodriguez, Jonah Hill, and (wait for it) Robert DeNiro.
Pause for a moment and repeat that: Robert DeNiro will share the screen with Danny Trejo in Machete. While it's still unconfirmed, BD notes that the source is none other than the one who sent them news of the Alien and Predator reboots, and those turned out to be true. So you can keep hope alive that you'll see DeNiro rocking the grindhouse world.

Not that this was something really important to the article, but just thought I'd throw it out there. If this rumor turns out to be true, this will actually be the SECOND time that Danny Trejo and Robert De Niro will have shared the screen together. The first time being the Michael Mann epic 'Heat'. Yup, that's right, Trejo played the member of De Niro's crew with the least lines (and ultimately, De Niro shoots him in the face). That was the first time I remember seeing Trejo in anything not directed by Robert Rodriguez.

There is also a rumor, albeit just a rumor, that Steven Segal is in talks for Machete.

I feel like I am missing something with Jonah Hill. He's irritating and yells every line in everything I've ever seen him (except the first time I saw him in 40YOV). What is the big draw here? He is *not* funny.

Totally agree, Robin. For example: I enjoyed Knocked Up, but it felt like when watching the movie the story stopped, Jonah Hill rant, then story resumes. I always felt like I was in the minority.
