Exclusive: Poster for Tyler Perry's 'I Can Do Bad All by Myself'

Cinematical has just received this exclusive poster for Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All by Myself, which is due to hit theaters on September 11. Perry definitely has an army of supporters in his target audience -- African-American, female, and religious -- and I Can Do Bad All by Myself sounds like more of the same. Three delinquent children loot the home of the lovable-but-firm Madea (Perry), and she takes matters into her own hands. She delivers them into the care of their only relative, the hard-drinking, nightclub-singing April, played by Academy Award-nominated Taraji P. Henson. Aunt April sponges off her married boyfriend and wants nothing to do with the kids, but things start to change when a good-looking Mexican immigrant (Adam Rodriguez) moves into her basement.
In a funny marketing twist for folks outside Perry's usual target audience, the poster references a vastly different movie: Sam Peckinpah's controversial, violent home invasion thriller Straw Dogs, starring Dustin Hoffman. It may be a little obscure for mainstream audiences, but I think it's pretty clever when you consider it in light of the Rod Lurie remake that is due out next year, which will be set in the deep South -- Perry country! Check out the above poster and the original Straw Dogs poster side-by-side, as well as the full version of the new Tyler Perry movie poster, in the gallery below.
Meanwhile, Tyler Perry fans can check out the trailer for I Can Do Bad All by Myself, which just debuted at Fandango.

WOW! This poster is awesome! I love the broken glasses, gives it a dark feel even though it's a comedy. So similar to Straw Dogs, love it - such a classic!

Are you guys serious? You're praising Tyler Perry for ripping off a poster that was created 20 some odd years ago?

Appropriation has a time and a place, given how uninspired his work comes off, this seems like a blatant rip to shift the spotlight to himself and his marketing team for the movie. "Hey look Straw Dogs was ages ago, no one will remember that." is what this screams for me.
The first comments feel like the marketing team is working hard to back pat itself for a job failed. Nice I wonder if they trails through the internet with the same garbage.

The ongoing support commentary is at least representative of the audience I was just citing is the target demographic. You could have a cat chasing a hanging string for 2 hours and the same audience would eat it up.
All the one liner's in the world wouldn't make an actual valid counter claim, "don't hate the player, hate the game" what is this 1996?
Everyone will have their own views on a given person, telling people they can go back to hell for not liking the same thing as anyone else is just making the stereotype that much easier to point out for the people the movie is trying to grab in. :P
Failtrain, ALL ABOARD!

I think Tyler Perry wrote the first few comments himself. How anyone can watch his movies is beyond me. Absolute garbage. I can't understand how this douche keeps making the same movie over and over again and morons keep buying into it.

So you are telling Tyler Perry fans that they are morons because they find his works entertaining. If we do not share your opinion, we are morons. It is fine to have your opinion but to insult others for their differences in opinion is ignorant. We are all different and we like different things. We live in America so the can have that freedom.
