Twilight's Victoria Gets a Surprise Casting Change

Sorry Twihards -- Rachelle Lefevre is moving on before her character can wreak havoc on Forks. An announcement has just been sent out that the actress won't be coming back for Eclipse, and instead, Bryce Dallas Howard will take over the bloody mayhem when production begins on August 17. As The Hollywood Reporter explains, Lefevre found a gig in the indie drama Barney's Version -- the Mordechai Richler adaptation I posted about in April -- and it starts production on the same day. It may be in Canada as well, but there's a whole lot of land between Eclipse's Vancouver and Version's Quebec. And talk about a crappy time for scheduling conflicts. She was the moody vamp girlfriend in Twilight, gets to haunt around here and there in New Moon, and then really kicks into gear with Eclipse, cooking up one heck of a revenge scenario to kill Bella and avenge the death of her love, James. Basically, Lefevre has bowed out just as things get really interesting for her character.
And what about Howard? Is she a good replacement? She's got a whole different look than Lefevre, so we can surely expect to see a whole different kind of VIctoria. Let's just hope that Eclipse does better than Howard's other recent blockbusters -- Spider-Man 3 and Terminator Salvation. Or, well, a lot of her other work, for that matter.

She's kind of a lame actress- at least in recent stuff like Terminator 4. (Though that sucked in many other ways.) And does anyone even remember she was in Spider-Man 3?

While I didn't like Spidey 3, I liked her in it just fine. She did a pretty good job for someone who had to act opposite the ridiculous "emo" Peter Parker.
I also thought she did pretty well in The Village.
I like her fine, and this character should give her the chance to play something with some spark and emotion instead of the more bland characters she's played in the past.
Unless that was supposed to happen in Salvation, which I haven't seen.

I wonder if her father pulled some strings for her (Ron Howard). Kind of odd to me that Rachelle 'dropped out' of a movie series phenomenon for an indie film. I sense something fishy...anyone?

You're naive Dina. Ron Howard has no pull for one of the biggest movie franchises around. That's very laughable and not plausible. I'm sure the real reason the actress was replaced was because of scheduling. You have a HUGE film with many hot actors all with crazy filming schedules. Not because Ron called and said, "Hey, risk upsetting many of your fans and put my kid in it.".

Sadly, Rachelle was just as surprised. She had the role down.

Let's just look at the hot-ness factor alone here! Rachelle Lafevre is WAY hotter than Bryce Dallas Howard. Seriously. Bryce is a meek and mild little mouse compared to the beautifully wild Rachelle.
I've read all the books and Rachelle is crazy for not sticking it out for 'Eclipse'. Bryce had better take some seriously wild acting lessons if she is gonna pull this off.

Well, based on the last movies, Bryce has played characters that are light and freindly. I certainly hope the casting directors did thier homework with her! Maybe they saw a much darker angry side that she could be capable of that the rest of us have not seen yet. She better read the books and study the character. I would hate for them to replace the character based on a look. The audience needs to feel her betrayal/anger and possible jelousy toward Bella and Edward.

B. TO THE S.!!!!! SUMMIT HAS GOT SOME SCREWS LOOSE FOR THIS PATHETIC CASTING CHOICE. BESIDES, THE STORY REGUARDING RACHELLE SOUNDS LIKE A HUGE LIE.

Summit is acting as the Volturi: hard and cruel.
1. Catherine out
2. Rachelle out
3. Slade in
4. what next to ruin it all?
I think Summit could find other work for Howard - more like among the Volturi. There's NOTHING wild about her.
Rachelle-the-wild-woman BACK!

Dear Stephanie,
My opinion:
Summit = the Volturi
hard, game playing, untrustworthy, cruel
1. Catherine out, 2. Rachelle out, 3. Slade in, 4. what NEXT to ruin it all?
After the Breaking Dawn I'm wishing Stephanie Meyer to write the next phase about getting rid of the Volturi (Summit) altogether.
We need another producer!
Please, help, Stephanie!

I agree Stephanie should stand up for her books and the movies. This Bryce Dallas Howard doesn't come close to lookiing like Twilight's Victoria, Rachelle is Victoria. I worry they could do this to any of the other actor's in this saga. This should not happen. They shot the fight seen in twilight with James the fist day they can work around this. This is so not right, my heart goes out to Rachelle and I feel Bryce will be sorry she took this, the fans are happy with the cast we have. I will never except Bryce as Victoria, we have met the true Victoria she is Rachelle.
STOP CHANGING THINGS!
