'Pumas'? Oh Jennifer Aniston, Please Stop ...

I have tried to remain neutral, and not really have an opinion on Jennifer Aniston one way or another, but merely judge her films as she makes them. I want to believe that she's a good egg who has become a victim of tabloid storytelling. But I give up, because every romantic comedy she signs onto not only furthers her own stereotype of lonely and desperate singleton, but keeps the grand character tradition alive on the big screen too. So, what's her latest salute to womankind? Variety says its CBS Films' Pumas. Penned by Melissa Stack and directed by Wayne McClammy, it "centers on two thirtysomething women who make a habit of romancing younger men and take a French skiing vacation that challenges their romantic expectations." On the upside, McClammy is the guy who directed Jimmy Kimmel's "I'm F**king Matt Damon" and follow-up "I'm F**king Ben Affleck." On the downside, this contrived storyline has none of that snark or freshness, but will certainly be filled with lonely heart jokes, and will provide much tabloid fodder depending on what hunk they cast opposite Aniston.
I realize how nasty all this sounds, and I certainly don't want to engage in girl-hate, but I find Aniston's career choices throughly depressing. Is there nothing else that appeals to her? Can she not use her name to green-light something about a lawyer or a scientist who doesn't fret about her love life? Is there nothing she finds interesting beyond wondering if He's Just Not That Into You?

Sorry, but I'm ROTFLMAO. Aniston use her name to "greenlight" something other than a romcom? Please. What's your street address in Never Never Land? Do you not realize how much begging Aniston had to do to get someone to fund this Puma movie? She even stated in an interview six months ago that everyone she pitched the idea to turned her down because they said the public doesn't want or find her believable in that type of role. Why else do you think she went chasing after John Mayer, who was 9 years her junior? Aniston is, was and always will be a woman with a plan. One that she thinks will make her a huge movie star.
Furthermore, Aniston's name alone can't greenlight anything, no matter what the subject matter is. This current batch of narcissistic romcoms she's got brewing - The Baster, The Bounty and now Puma, on the heals of the ones she's already made (The Break Up and He's Just Not That Into You), are obviously meant to make hay on her reputation of being unlucky in love. Aniston deliberately cultivates these movies, several of which she is producing, then does interviews whining about the type of roles she's offered and lamenting her lack of opportunities to grow as an actress.
Frankly I'm sick of is people cutting Aniston slack with comments like "I want to believe she's a good egg." I want to believe in the Easter Bunny, but it's a big fat fairy tale and I've got the cavities to prove it. Aniston started her own production company to vet her own material and, to paraphrase her words, "make movies that inspire and empower women." Yet movies like Pumas and The Baster is what she repeatedly churns out because she thinks they will be box office hits and turn her into a huge movie star like her ex-husband and the women every one assumes he left her for. Why people keep dancing around that fact is beyond me. Aniston isn't looking to grow as an actress. She's looking to get on even professional footing with two of the biggest global stars around today. Only then will she consider herself a success. It's all about her ego NOT her body of work and certainly not the quality and variety of her work.
When it comes to Aniston someone needs to call a spade a spade and I'm more than happy to do it. Bottom line - she needs to get over herself. She is not and never will be a global movie star on par with Pitt and Jolie. She simply doesn't have the screen presence or the talent to carry a feature length film on her own. It's not exactly a shock that ALL of Aniston's hit movies are films in which she played second fiddle to an A-list comic actor. If people look at it logically, she wasn't even THE STAR of the tv show she did. It was an ensemble show with each actor carrying part of the load. Aniston was no more important in that cast than anyone else. They all received equal pay. Yet somehow she keeps getting cast in lead roles in movies that tank at the box office. How many potentially great movies don't get made or potentially great actors don't get discovered because someone wasted $30 or $40 million dollars funding a Jennifer Aniston movie that barely makes back the marketing costs let alone the production budget? The thought absolutely boggles my mind.

No kidding- this woman's crappy rom-coms have been torturing me on long-haul flights for years. Does any knucklehead actually pony up to see her 'acting' in the theaters?

What about Marley and Me? that wasn't exactly romantic comedy. There was also Derailed although I disliked that one. Plus The Break Up was kind of an opposite direction but who knows. I'm kind of thinking that art imitates life. She's just kind of lonely you know? I haven't seen many of her movies so its just a theory.

Finally! About time someone exposed this untalented hack of an actress. So sick of people feeling sorry for her and kissing her ass. I agree with all the posts. She is a fraud, a selfish one at that. Trying to insult our intelligence by putting out this crap. A true movie star she is not. She will never be on the level of the Jolie-Pitts as much as she and her fans like to think. Quantity is not always better than quality. She needs to take a loooong break and GET OVER HERSELF!!

actually one might argue that her early film career choices showed some potential.
Ed Burns' SHE'S THE ONE
OFFICE SPACE (!)
THE GOOD GIRL
?
even very recently she took a counter-image role in an under-rated FRIENDS WITH MONEY.

Why do people act? Would they do it if they were not getting paid for it. Body of work. How about bottom line. Every one has to make a living. You can complain and criticize all you want but she is making more money than anyone of you guys that made comments and the person that wrote the article. This is her job and she does what she has to do to earn a living.
