Seeking: Good Ideas for 'Bourne 4', Three Already Found.
Filed under: Action, Thrillers, Universal, Scripts, Fan Made
If you happen to be a handsome ex-CIA agent who out of a rabid sense of patriotism let the US government turn you into a tech-savvy killing machine with no memories and a penchant for throat chopping people in all manner of office building and slum around the world, Matt Damon would like you to call Universal Studios and give them a heads up as to what your life is like. See, Universal wants to make a fourth Bourne film, as does series star Damon, but they currently have no idea how to plausibly bring the guaranteed money maker back to the big screen. Damon explained to Empire in a recent interview the holding pattern America's new favorite ex-spy is in, "you can't see the guy saying "I don't remember" any more, because he's lost and regained his memory three times already! And he's not like Bond, who goes on individual missions. I mean, you could make Bond movies forever, because you'd start each film at the beginning of a new mission. But Bourne isn't built that way, unfortunately."
If your first thought is to somehow have Bourne go back to working as a G-man, toss it out right now; that's already been considered and dismissed by Damon and co. However, I'm pretty confident they haven't thought of the following. If they had, Revenge is Bourne would already have a trailer.
Jason Bourne Buys a House on Arlington Road
Sure, Bourne wouldn't realistically want to put himself back on the payroll of the heartless men that ruined his life on multiple occasions, but that doesn't mean he'd turn a blind eye to saving his country. The, "I think I live next to a terrorist" plot never really took off after Arlington Road, which is all the more reason to have Bourne move in next door to a sleeper cell.
Now, if only Universal owned the rights to an even bigger assassin franchise, we could turn the suburban rampaging to 11 and have Mr. And Mrs. Smith Meet Jason Bourne. Tell me that wouldn't be one hardcore property line dispute...
Jason Bourne Goes Camping in the Pacific Northwest
After all that globe trotting and throat chopping, doesn't Bourne deserve a vacation? He seems like a mountainside kind of guy to me, may I suggest a trip up north? What's this? Another Top Secret government to turn men into mindless killing machines has gone awry? Step aside, Rambo, Bourne's got this one.
Jason Bourne Fights Black Market Organ Donors in Brazil
Look, let's just be logical about this. Jason Bourne may be built like a prison brick wall, but he's not invulnerable. After surviving three films worth of brutal beat downs, there's gotta be some kind of internal damage. But without employer sponsored health insurance, how's Bourne going to be able to afford all of his surgeries? The CIA may pay well, but it doesn't pay Health Care in America well, so it's off to a cheap, life saving operation in South America. Only this time, those pesky Brazilian organ harvesters steal the wrong man's kidneys!
Think about it, Universal. That last one is perfect. It's topical and already has the series' staple international setting. Plus, the script can find Bourne with another spell of amnesia after waking up in a bathtub of ice and the US Government is still the bad guy responsible for it all.
I expect my duffel bag of cash delivered by Damon in person, thanks.

There is no good reason to make this film. Mediocre books make mediocre films with mediocre actors.

i'm gonna keep saying this until i'm blue in the face. Go back to Ludlum's source material. Jason Bourne, now having discovered who he was and that he was a volunteer for the treadstone 71 program, rediscovers his original mission: Kill Carlos the Jackal. Bourne resumes his sleeper agent position in Paris and begins work to flush out carlos and his network of old men, beginning the next set of three movies and one of the most memorable cat and mouse games in all of cinema history. #4 takes place across europe, #5 brings carlos to NYC to trace the origins of Bourne, running up and down the east coast from NY to DC to Langley. #6 wraps up the trilogy, starting in argentina and finishing with bourne and carlos facing off in Russia at the novgorod training facility where the Russians trained agents in a compound made up of model versions of major cities all over the world.
Spoiler alert: Bourne wins.

I really like your idea. I was surprised when the movies came out and they were nothing like Ludlum's books.
Or, they could make a prequel showing how David's family was killed and started him on his career in Treadstone.

Now that Jason's identity is out, past enemies want him dead and go after his remaining family. They want his intel on them destroyed. Intel that connects them to the White House and a much larger conspiracy. Jason/David must now fight for his family, himself, and risk becoming a target, yet again, of his own government. Throw in some assassins from Germany, The Congo, North Korea, etc, and have a couple of shady US cabinet members involved, and connect it to controlling the world's stock markets and poverty in third-world-countries as a result.

The Bourne Supremacy was the best book in the original trilogy IMO and the movie was nothing like it. Just come up with a new title, let Nikki replace Marie's role, and modernize the plot a little bit. Come on, you know you want to see Jason Bourne face off against a copycat killer in Hong Kong.
Oh and in regards to that stolen kidneys idea, I think you'd be better off talking to Jason Statham about another Crank sequal :-)

Only thing left is to have that cute Russian girl at the end of the second part come after him. She could be girl assassin who wants revenge for her parent's death and later, of course, has to team up with Bourne.

So, I know this may sound SO out there...
But PLEASE...Find a way to get Bourne to Central America...
Paraguay or anywhere down there!
Have him NOW in hiding, well, more like "living" out his days in peace...
When, unfortunately, he gets involved with a girl who's being harassed by some kinda "drug cartel' with International connections...which are being "monitored" by the CIA...boo YAH!
CiA will be WTF is Bourne doing in Central America?
Ya know, the Brass has no clue what's REALLIE going on, anyway, so, but clearly his purpose there was purely CoincidentaL...
Have Bourne track down the cartel "responsible" for the village girl's death *presumably, what sets him on a PERSONAL vendetta...Mission for Revenge...so to speak...*
Find this "internationaL" ring of Crime...
Kinda like Taken, how there's a Prostitution Ring/Scheme going on...
Have him "take" on those "terrorists"/criminals in THAT way...
all the while, trying to stay ONE step ahead of the CIA, who is HOT on his trail, TRYING to figure out his "motive" in all this...
As they are the ones monitoring these Criminal Circles...
Yeah...Have Bourne resolve the issue...and perhaps bring down a leg...or even the Head of the Circle...
W/e...as long as he gets to be in Central America at the start of the movie...Somehow end up in either France or the Ukraine...
As long as there's "GLobaL" hopping, it's a Bourne flick...
So yeahs...there ya goes...hope that helps
Matt Damon, hope he READS this? haha...
He is, by far, one of THE most Versatile "Americana" Actors we have...he can play SO Many types of characters, it's UNBELIEVABLE...and the INFORMANT! looks f~&^ing FanTASTiC!!
ha...Yeups...can't wait to see him Kick some more Criminal or deserving @SS SOON!

Why don't they just revert back to bourne's history? Show him taking part in the treadstone mission only glimpsed at during the trilody?

Except for going back to the books, a lot of these sound like they should have Steven Segal in them.

The fourth Bourne film could focus on the other 'Volunteers' to the treadstone programme. They could have amnesia as well and be looking for answers. They unfortunately believe Jason Bourne was involved with brainwashing them and they are looking for revenge by trying to kill him and Nicky Parsons.

OK... the one thing we know for sure is that Bourne has a strong sense of duty and fair play. This was the reason for the sieries in the first place. He could not kill a person who deserved killing infront of innocents. This just about got him killed and started the whole thing rolling. As there was no physical reason for Bourne to lose his memory, the shock of being shot coupled with the stress of not crossing an invisible line he didn't know he had caused the conflict with his memory to create a "block". That coupled with PTSD, allowed only the relevant information related to his immidiate circumstance through the fog, so to speak. This was one of the best thoughtout movies of the millenium.
Now we know what motivates Bourne, use it! Patriotism plus fair play. Something everyone should remember in the last Bourne flic is that Bourne has more than one strong ally. There is Pam Landy, Nikki Parsons, and the best one of all is the asset that allowed him to escape in the last scene. This could not be better set up unless there was a plan from the first. One is a high ranking CIA Director (P. Landy), another is a logistics expert (Parsons), and the other is an expert Killing machine like Bourne, who has an newly developed sense of conscience. For gods sake, they could turn this into a TV sieries! ("A" Team move over or Mission impossible on steroids) But I would be satisfied with one last kick at the "bad guy cat" so to speak. These people working alone took out one of the most successful models of counter intellegence in the world. I would like to see what they could do against the Mafia or some other group of real bad guys.
