Watch This: Backstage on 'Women in Trouble'

Look, I know what you're thinking. I thought the same thing when this photo arrived in my inbox. And then I looked at the "backstage" footage from Women in Trouble, which you can see for yourself after the jump, and I was even more confused. The clip begins with porn star Elektra Luxx (Carla Gugino from Watchmen in a really questionable faux bondage ensemble over regular street clothes) announcing that she's here to tell you why you shouldn't see Women in Trouble. Fresh-faced prostitute Holly Rocket (Adrianne Palicki from Friday Night Lights) chimes in that she's also here to talk to you about why you should avoid the movie. It's not for people who don't like sex, "hot chicks in lingerie," "damn strong language," or, uh, spaceships, among other things. ("There is no spaceship in the movie," whispers Elektra to Holly.), Later, the two talk amongst themselves...
"We don't want to scare off the guys in the audience," says Elektra.
"Why are they scared?" whispers Holly.
"They're scared it might be a chick flick!"
"Oh, I hate chick flicks!"
"Me too!"
"But this," Holly gestures emphatically, "is not a chick flick! It is a funny movie that just happens to have hot chicks in it."
So far their pitch for me to not see it is working. Rather than being offended per se, I'm still confused. Then I researched the movie a bit and found the writer/director, Sebastian Gutierrez, is also responsible for Gothikaand Snakes on a Plane, and already has the sequel to Women in Trouble, Elektra Luxx, in post-production. Hrm. But! Aha! Cinematical's own Jette Kernion saw it at this year's SXSW and liked it, writing that "Women in Trouble is a fun addition to the current trend of revisiting and reworking exploitation-film themes in a lighthearted way." Okay, consider my curiosity piqued -- albeit warily. I'm fascinated by viral marketing, but I'm just not sure this one works for me. What do you think?
Women in Trouble opens on November 13th, 2009, in limited theaters.

This movie surprised me at Waterfront. Its a little raunchy but its suppose to be. I spent some time with Sebastian and he's a really cool, down to earth guy. I liked it. The writing is clever, the actors were great, and the pace was smooth. For anyone that hasn't seen it, and isn't afraid of what they mention in the clip, definitely check it out.
