Warner Bros and DC Have 'No Plans' For Superman

A little more than a year after Warner Bros announced they were rebooting Superman, they've decided to quietly shelve the Man of Steel for the time being. DC Entertainment's new president Diane Nelson told the MTV Splash Page that the fledgling company wasn't planning to revive the character or his franchise any time soon. "We've obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it's a key part of the family, but we don't have current plans behind Superman," says Nelson.Considering the legal entanglements and 2011 deadlines, that's really not much of a surprise. When Warner Bros' president Alan Horn was called to the stand in the Siegel case, he said there were no plans for another film despite how much he'd like to make one. Of course, things could change today or tomorrow if someone at DCE or Warner Bros decides they don't want to risk another lawsuit with the Siegels, as the ruling stipulated they could sue for damages if the studio failed to get a film underway.
I know a lot of Superman fans really wanted another movie (and somewhere, Mark Millar is weeping), but I think this is good news in the long run. They won't rush a bad film into production, and when they revive the character, it'll be with every intention of bringing him to a new generation of fans. However, let's have a moment of silence for the fact that we won't see Jon Hamm put on the cape and shield. I really really liked that piece of fan casting.

I for one am fine with this because this way WB does not have to rush to get the film out. So when they do have the rights to the film they can take there time to get the movie right. With either Brainiac or the President Lex Luther.
I would love to see an Outsiders movie instead. The one with Arsenal & Nightwing. I really want to see Black Lighting in a movie but not in the Outsider film. Because Arsenal & Nightwing I really want to see fighting on film.
I would love to see a cameo from Christian Bale starting up the Outsiders. This would be of course years later from the Dark Knight. But would be cool. Because Batman was the one who made the Outsiders.
I know I will get hate for this but I really want to see an Aquaman film. He is the King of Atlantis lots of interesting things went down in the Sea and I for one think that would make for a really cool movie. Just as long as you get some one older to play the part. I would even say Mickey Rourke would have worked but I don't think he would be got dead wearing the suit.
Another great film would be Green Arrow and Black Canary. Not the version of the comics book of the same name. But the two of them working together.
I just am thrilled to see WB starting to take a bigger role in comic book films. With there new DC ENTERTAINMENT. There are so many great comics that will work perfect not just the ones you think of like Green Lantern but I could see a Sandman movie being great too.

Agreed.
DC should cool it's heels. Wait out this current round of superhero movies. Come back totally fresh. Work in Batman and Wonder Woman (see if we can finally get her character the movie she's deserved)

Hopefully this is just them playing this close to the vest with all the legal stuff going on.I can't believe there are no plans to reintroduce Superman and for all those who say we don't need to see his origin any more, well you could have said said the same thing about Batman but we got a damn good one in Batman Begins.Lastly I feel if its made in the next two to three years John Hamm should still get the part.
