Boo! 'Blood Creek' Slips Into Second-Run Theaters Today
Filed under: Horror, Mystery & Suspense, Lionsgate Films, RumorMonger, Distribution
In my neck of the woods, the Orlando Sentinel's Roger Moore seemed to spot it first. The Colonial Promenade, de facto destination for dollar movies (on Tuesdays anyway), appeared to be opening something called Blood Creek on Friday. The only title that IMDb had to spare was a 2006 Canadian horror flick that had already come out on DVD up there, although this map of showtimes would suggest that it's sweeping the nation regardless. However, Lionsgate had opened Midnight Meat Train at this same theater and others like it last summer, and they did have distribution rights for Joel Schumacher's latest thriller, which had been alternating titles between Creek and Town Creek while sitting on the proverbial shelf for nearly two years. Without a Clive Barker to raise a fuss this time around, who was to know any better if it slipped into a couple of so-called 'dollar' theaters over the weekend?
Yesterday, Memphis' John Beifuss confirmed that said film was to quietly open in their market as well. He mentions Dallas as another location for the film. Bloody Disgusting readers name-checked Canton, OH; Manteca, CA; Las Cruces, NM; Wichita, KS; and Plano, TX; Shock-ers mentioned Willoughby, OH and Saginaw, MI.
We have our review up over on Horror Squad. In the meantime, if you happen to notice it playing in your neighborhood, help us out narrow things down by commenting below. We find "shame releases" all sorts of fascinating.
(Pardon the modest shot of the one-sheet, but until my cell phone looks to co-operate a bit better, that's the first glimpse of it that you can see online.)

We have it at Parkway Cinemas in Warner Robins, GA. $1.99...
We had Midnight Meat Train last year as well, lasted for one week I think. Apparently we got it as some part of a deal with Lionsgate; one of those where they told our owners "if you put this on the screen we'll give you extra prints of a movie you really want later this year..."
Catch this while you can.

I saw this movie last night at Venture Value Cinema in Duluth, Ga. ($1.99). I think it's a great horror movie, with an adequate supply of blood, gore, and suspense. The concept is interesting. Actors are "B" and "C" listers at best, but the storyline is great and everyone puts on a great performance. Go check it out in your city. You won't be disappointed.

Damn! I just read the other day about the name change in anticipation of its release and now this? Given that Michael Fassbender is fast becoming a hot property, I'm surprised that it's sneaking into theaters in small towns. Oh well, I guess I wait for the dvd.

Hmm.. Well, I've read that there are two different ''Blood creeks'' apparently the one people are talking about here is not the Canadian film that came out in 2006? They're talking about the brother that ''went missing''? Cause we do have a blood creek playing in our Cinemark Movies 10 here in Lynchburg, Virginia But it's the Canadian film, because I looked at it and it was talking about the five campers who do a dare that ends deadly etc, (I kinda wanna see it but I'm scared lol) and does anyone notice how horror films always have those 5 people!? If anyone's seen Cabin Fever, there were also five people, 3 guys two girls, I guess 5 is a good number to kill off? lol Idk. anyways, I Read that it was awful, read that is wasn't bad, so I'd just have to see it myself I guess. I saw it come into the theater and the named sounded familiar, but I didn't see it on TV so I was like, Hmph. Now I know why =P

It's playing in Nashville, TN at the Carmike Hickory 8 (in Antioch)... a $1.50 theater. I'm gonna go check it out tonight before it's too late. Lionsgate is awful. Perhaps this film deserved to be "dumped"... but last year's "The Midnight Meat Train" was one of the best horror movies in years.
