What's the Worst Film of This Decade?
.jpg)
Ya know, it doesn't feel like we're nearing the end of another decade, does it? There's no special millennium celebration or Y2K nonsense to get excited about, so it seems people are just sorta whatever about the past decade as if it wasn't very monumental or iconic, except for the part where our African-American president said something geeky about Star Trek. But I bet all the best end-of-the-decade content is yet to come, and it looks like Rotten Tomatoes is getting things started by presenting us with the worst (reviewed) films of the decade ... which they probably should've waited a couple more months to launch since, ya know, we still haven't seen Avatar (I'm kidding Jim - I'm kidding! Calm down!).
So what's the worst reviewed film of the decade? Well, that honor goes to --drum roll please -- 2002's Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever, starring the always enticing duo of Lucy Liu and Antonio Banderas. Guess audiences didn't exactly go ballistic over that one, huh? Ecks vs. Sever is closely followed by One Missed Call (2008), Pinocchio (2002), King's Ransom (2005), National Lampoon's Gold Diggers (2004), Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (2004), Strange Wilderness (2008), 3 Strikes (2000), Redline (2007) and rounding out the top 10 worst reviewed movies of the decade is Witless Protection (2008).
Out of all 100 films not one has a rating above 7%, which without a doubt cements its monumental dud status. Check out the entire list over at RT, and then see if you can answer this question: What's the worst film you've seen this decade?

Crossover, by far. Absolutely nothing redeeming about it.

I'll stick with the critical consensus here: I was thirteen when I saw "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever." I thought it was spectacularly awful.
Let's put that into perspective for a moment: When I was thirteen I thought that "The Scorpion King" was a GREAT film.
Yeah, "B: E vs. S" is HORRENDOUSLY bad.

Any movie that kills off the best actor in the first scene definitely deserves number two.

I'd like to nominate Hatchet (I openly laughed when they revealed the monster), The second Scorpion King (my apologies to Randy Couture), and both John Cena films (total failure).

Gigli just plain sucked, it was exactly draining my soul out like ... Altered (2006) or The Lake House (also from 2006...) starring Sandra Bullock.
Well, anything starring Sandra Bullock.
Or Matthew McConaughey (Sahara (2005) ... Fool's gold (2008), anything but Reign of Fire (2002))

Strange Wilderness was hilarious. It's not trying to be a great film, it's just stupid humor and it does it well.

Well, according to their list the worst I've seen is Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. (I only saw 5 others on the whole list, the next highest in the 30s). However, I think they severely overlooked the cinematic travesty that is Taxi. Watching Jimmy Fallon and Queen Latifah screaming while acting stupid is not my idea of a good time.

Wow, i only saw like 6 of 100. Probably the prize goes to The legend of Chun-Li.
My "worst" list includes The Punishers (both), terrible, terrible Ghost Rider, Yes man, the love guru, Resident evils, Aeon Flux, Catwoman, Dragon ball, both hostels ... and. Well. Star wars 2.
I really have to see Ballistic. How can it be so bad?

Ecks vs Sever as the worst film of the decade? Seriously? You mean to tell me that Transformers and its sequel spawn did not beat the film to the #1 spot? Although Ecks vs Sever is not at the top of my favorites list either it still was higher on the ratings scale than being the worst on the list.

Alone in the Dark, Bloodrayne, how are they not on the list?

I can't speak for Bloodrayne, but Alone in the Dark is fucking hilariously bad. Christian Slater, Stephen Dorff and Tara "new-FOUND-land" Reid, along with a 30-pack is an amazing late night treat.

"Because I Said So" wins (or loses) for me. I wanted to kill everyone in the film. Diane Keaton and her stupid fucking belts and hats. Mandy Moore and her stupid fucking catering business. Gabriel "The Spirit" Macht as a stupid fucking hippie/hipster with a fedora, tattoos, and guitar. Let's not forget the middling fucking sisters. Worst. Movie. Ever.
...and all the Date/Epic/whatever movies as automatically the most painful of film abortions.

Yikes! "Because I Said So" was particularly dreadful. It only surpassed "The Family Stone" for horrid, screeching family dynamics by a hair.

Amen to that. Wasted that time of my life suffering through Because I said So.

I've seen maybe 6 of these. Can so many movies be so bad as to put Battlefield Earth at #27? Or perhaps that was laughable enough as to have some entertainment value. Eks was down there, but the most punishing movie of the decade for me was Elektra (10%).

Wait wait, some of the films being mentioned belong in the "so bad it's good" category...which while deserving of a low review score, offer enough laughs to take them out of the "just plain bad" category. :)
