Seth Rogen Gets His 'Entourage' Revenge
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Fandom

The greatest thing about last night's premiere episode of The Simpsons was just how current and fanboy-ish it was, and that's because it was written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Superbad), the former of which also voiced the character of Homer's Hollywood trainer. But perhaps the best part of the episode came when Rogen -- who's had a long-standing feud with the gang from Entourage -- used his character to take another jab at the HBO show after they used him as the punching bag for a storyline earlier this season.
Simpsons Spoiler Warning
The joke came right at the end of the episode when Homer is yelling at his Hollywood trainer (voiced by Rogen) for ditching him, thus nudging Homer off his diet and back on the chubby wagon -- a move that ultimately ruined the superhero movie he was starring in. So when Homer demands to know who his trainer left him for, Rogen's character admits it was Turtle from Entourage. He then apologizes to Homer and offers him to train with Turtle too so they can both lose the weight. Turtle, for those who remember the episode, was the one who helped instigate the "Why would anyone sleep with Seth Rogen?" argument that caused quite the stir back in July.
After the episode, Rogen told E! that the Entourage guys are "a**holes" and that Entourage creator Doug Ellin was a "moron". But the feud goes back even further because Rogen pitched an Entourage-type show long ago, and HBO turned it down only to then bring on Entourage. So, yeah, Rogen -- the clever bastard that he is -- decided to do what every true fanboy wished they could do: He used The Simpsons to get back at his Entourage bully. And I thought it was pretty awesome ...

^Anyone who likes the show Entourage is an idiot. I watched but I recognize it's terribleness. Rogen has made several funny, and very, very weird studio movies that wouldn't have gotten made if it were not for him.
As for the Turtle dig, I wonder if it even could be a direct response given that Rogen recorded his voice role in the summer of 2008. Hard to think The Simpsons animators and Rogen would shoe-horn an Entourage slam in there at the last minute, it would be awfully costly and time consuming. The only thing I can think of is if it were another person in the original line and they replaced it with Turtle.
Or, perhaps the Entourage people heard about the Simpsons episode and wrote in their dig at Rogen. Must be cleared up.

Considering how both sides of this "feud" have churned out nothing but crap the last couple of years, Rogen and the Entourage idiots should spend more time on improving their respective work so people night actually enjoy watching them again someday....

Seth Rogen and Entourage are both boring and overexposed.

You actually sat through an entire episode of The Simpsons? That's pretty impressive. I haven't been able to get past the first 5 minutes of an episode in 10 years. The days of "Homer Goes To College" are long gone my friend.
How many pointless cameos and in-jokes that only 5 people got did you have to endure before the Entourage joke... which in itself is an in-joke that only 5 people got.

i posted my comments just now in the original post. this seems like overly sensitive males. maybe we should check if they are on their cycle?
i love entourage but this season has gone nowhere. they gave everyone their own identity then forgot about their lead. i havent seen vince do a movie the entire season. the only progression i liked was lloyd finally standing up to ari

Implying that Turtle is either fat or Hollywood isn't a good diss. Obviously I'm on Rogen's side (without seeing any of his movies - booyah!), but I'm not the biggest fan of his flavourless insults.
And because it's tradition, Entourage sucks, Jeremy Piven sucks.

Man, some of your people sure take entertainment wayyyyyy too seriously. Personally, I think any individual who calls someone an idiot for enjoying any program has issues. You do realize you people are free to dislike something without insulting everyone who does like it, right? What do you accomplish by calling Entourage fans idiots, other than making yourself look like an asshole?
I caught Rogen's dig at Turtle. Didn't think anything of it. Really wasn't much, so I'd hardly consider it revenge. Besides, the Simpson's episode was probably written before the Entourage ep, so there's no way it was retaliation. And even if Rogen has a problem with the show and the showrunners, that's no reason to seek revenge against its stars. They're only saying what's written on the page for them. The whole thing is just petty. Either fight like men or shut the hell up.

Entourage is a mysognist male masturbatory fantasy that has squandered whatever good will and promise it had during it's first two seasons. It's lazily written, directed and acted. There's an undercurrent of homophobia and racism in the show too that's rather disgusting. So yes, people who like Entourage are idiots. People who read tabloids are idiots, the same goes reality shows and cable news.
Also everything you said about the timing of the episode I said earlier in the rest of my post.

In case you haven't been paying attention, the vast majority of the entertainment out there is based on male masturbatory fantasy. You think action films are lauded for their realism?
And the rest of the entertainment that's created is to fulfill the female masturbatory fantasy (romantic comedies, Sex and the City, fairy tales, etc.).
News flash: entertainment = an escape. Not everyone gives a shit if the scripting is perfect, or the acting extraordinary, or the direction inspired. Viewers are simply looking to enjoy themselves.
*By the way, I covered the same territory you did regarding the episode because I didn't bother reading anything past "idiots". I tend to disregard opinions when people label an entire group based on a difference of opinion. You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't mean it's right.

This year's "The Hurt Locker" is arguably an action film, much lauded for it's realism, both in the realistic, complex drawing of the characters and the situations depicted in the film.
And how sexist is the assumption that women only enjoy romantic comedies and fairy tales? Or that women don't enjoy action films and men don't enjoy romantic films?
"News flash: entertainment = an escape. Not everyone gives a shit if the scripting is perfect, or the acting extraordinary, or the direction inspired. Viewers are simply looking to enjoy themselves."
It's this attitude that inflates Transformers 2's boxoffice into an absurdly high number. What an unattractive portrait you paint of yourself. Apperantly you don't care if films or television you watch is well written, well acted, or well shot and directed. What makes you enjoy yourself if a film or tv show is poorly written, acted and directed? What is there to enjoy? Clearly you're not looking to challenge yourself and I'll guess that our taste diverges wildly, but should entertainment not be done well? Especially when an audience is paying $10.50 for a ticket or $100 a month for a premium cable package to see Entourage.
You yourself actually seem interested in whether or not films are written and directed well.
You: "Brett Ratner directing a Diablo Cody script for a Hugh Hefner biopic. What could possibly go wrong?
Seriously, bad idea all around. Wrong writer and wrong director. I can see it now, Hef talking in hipster speak on a hamburger phone to his wise-cracking sidekick played by Chris Tucker."
So perhaps direction and writing and acting DO matter when you're evaluating a film.
Another quote from your elegant mind: "Hey, I don't disagree that most of what ends up onscreen is shit too. But a lot of times that may be after the producers tinker with it. It's not always a reflection of the original script.
But sure, working screenwriters can also churn out shit. My point was simply that the vast majority of screenplays are shit, so why would the people with power wanna take a chance on someone without a reputation?"
It's clear from your posts here and elsewhere you're inconsisent and you don't really care about film. That's fine, you're not alone, but your indignation at my calling people who LIKE the show Entourage idiots is kind of stupid. Why I'm arguing with a twit on the internet, I do not know, but I'll close this unfortunate waste of time the most immature and obvious way possible by saying this, you're an idiot. You're an idiot in ways it would take me days to sort out, and try to explain to you and I would no doubt still come up empty handed in trying to get you to understand your idiocy. You are, as that fat gay Senator (I know his name) said, a dining table.

Dude, like I said in my initial post, you take your entertainment wayyyyyy too seriously. And now I can see you've got wayyyy too much time on your hands. Time you've completely wasted. Because there ain't a chance in hell I'm gonna bother reading all that. You get an 'A' for effort, though.

I am sure it is a matter of taste but I have liked way more of Rogens work than all of the people on Entourage combined.
Not to mention that Entourage has that talentless tool Piven as part of the cast. This alone is enough to avoid it.

Yeah I get the joke....basically Turtle has been losing weight all season so new viewers to Entourage aren't like.... What the hell is Meadow Soprano doing with that guy!? or to make it more "real". So basically trainer Rogen is crediting himself as a good trainer and Homer would actually lose weight training with Turtle because Turtle is half the man he used to be. Guessing Rogen caught sight of Turtle somewhere in the streets of L.A. before the season and had to say something.
Regarding Mr. Idealist's question
......"But sure, working screenwriters can also churn out shit. My point was simply that the vast majority of screenplays are shit, so why would the people with power wanna take a chance on someone without a reputation?"
Easy Question...Risk and Return...The greater the perceived risk of owning an investment, the greater the return expected by investors to compensate for the risk...and I'm sure this someone without a reputation is not gonna be asking for as much money as someone who is an accredited screenwriter another plus for the people with power (capital). I think they actually win on both sides of the coin (rich get richer) .The screen writer with no credibility is probably just trying to get his name out there...maybe not devoting 100 percent all the time to each script. Who know's, maybe the people with power can tweak this script a bit with the help of a talented director (promote him and fuck the screenwriter), all star cast and make a profitable movie without a huge expense for the script. Hell it may even be a blockbuster.....and I'm sure the powers that be have some sort of idea of what sells and what is "in".What has marketing potential and seems profitable. Its pretty much based on your assumptions. Those usually dictate how good you are.
Have any of ya'll seen the foot fist way by any chance?
