Thanks 'Twilight' - Now There's a Blood Energy Drink
Filed under: Fandom
You'd have to be living under rock not to have realized a pop culture vampire invasion over the past year, thanks mainly to The Twilight Saga and to television shows like True Blood and The Vampire Diaries. What used to be something reserved for those strange kids who wore black lipstick and black trenchcoats and sat quietly in dark corners away from the light is now widely accepted as the cool new hip thing to do. Heck, if you pretend to be a vampire, then maybe a guy like Robert Pattinson will fall in love with you and wanna have, like, ten thousand of your babies. Now, though, it looks like those companies looking to capitalize on this whole vampire trend have taken things a bit too far by introducing a new energy drink called Blood Energy Potion. As you can see from the fabulous image to your right, the Blood Energy Potion comes in one of those blood bags that you get at the hospital, and, according to Urban Collector (where you can pre-order the drink), "...not only does Blood Energy Potion have a similar nutritional makeup to real blood, but it has the same color, look, and consistency of blood."
Really, kids? Really?

I think that drink idea may have come more from True Blood than Twilight.

Though vampire romance is my favorite genre to read, I, for one, do not want to see people on a streetcorner sucking on a blood bag. GAG...

In fairness to Twilight (my god, did I just type that?!?) this seems more directly inspired by True Blood, no?
Then again, maybe Twilight had faux-blood beverages as well. I wouldn't know, because I've never seen Twilight, because I'm not a twelve-year-old girl.
Then again again, I've never seen True Blood either. Because... um... okay I have no excuse for that one.

This isn't Twilight inspired. It's vampire inspired, sure, but Twilight? Nope. Human blood, really not a main factor in that saga. Sure, the main vampires in the series are supposed to be attracted to it, but they don't actually drink it.
Everybody blames a couple of books on the woes of humanity.

But now of course the freaks that drink real blood can come out of the basement or the Janitors room of a hospital at 3 in the morning and say "its not real blood you idiot, its that new energy drink!"
Fail

That is most definatley going to sell well... Can you blame them for wanting to cash in on the current vampire craze?
Definatley more True Blood inspired than Twilight.
I'd buy it, out of pure, morbid curiosity.
And then maybe again if it was good!
