Bryan Singer Returning to X-Men Universe?

While X-Men: The Last Stand definitely has its fans, the primary consensus was that folks would've preferred X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer behind the camera to complete the trilogy he started, which began with a very impressive origins film and continued with what some claim to be one of the greatest comic book films ever made. Unfortunately at the time, Singer gave up directing duties on The Last Stand to Brett Ratner in order to helm Superman Returns -- a move that kinda came back to bite him in the ass on not just one front, but two.
Now, though, Singer is talking to 20th Century Fox about returning to the franchise that's given him the most success as a filmmaker. Speaking at Korea's Pusan International Film Festival, Singer said, "I'm still looking to possibly returning to the 'X-Men' franchise. I've been talking to Fox about it." He added, " I love Hugh Jackman. I love the cast." While The Hollywood Reporter doesn't mention any specific X-Men films, back in August it was reported that Singer was potentially interested in directing the upcoming X-Men: First Class film, though the Wolverine sequel is also currently without a director. Either way I'm sure fans would welcome him back to the franchise with open arms, hearts and minds.
If it was up to you, which upcoming X-Men film would you like to see Singer helm? First Class, Wolverine 2 or a big X-Men reunion film?

don't be so dramatic only three characters were killed off and two lost their powers supposedly. It wouldn't be that difficult to resurrect them or return their powers if Singer took note of the expanded x-men universe

if x-men 2 is supposed to be one of the best comic book movies ever made then why does it have these problems
Nightcrawler was a man of faith who valued life yet left Jason Striker to be crushed by rocks
Professor Xavier who was seen with the ability to freeze time and control people minds is kidnapped by striker and forced to do his bidding
Xavier who is a smart people is not brainwashed but is shown illusions goes along with it despite the fact that he should know its not real
Bobby confesses his being a mutant to his family while ON THE RUN FROM THE MILITARY and not one of the mutants have a problem with this
Rogue and Iceman are giving a lot of screen time but have nothing to do in the resolution of the final conflict
Jean Grey's just didn't seem to be a neccesary sacrifice when Nightcrawler was around
Striker invaded the mansion for no real purpose since he only wanted to kill all mutants and only Charles and Cerebro
He built a replica of cerebro when he could have used the one in the mansion
I enjoyed the x-men films but none of them came close to the ideal x-men movie
I also find it hilarious that the film as being hailed as one of the best when the genre is twenty to thirty years old

Did he even know that Wolverine did that to Stryker?
That's true.
You don't know how the mutant's illusions worked.
No time like the present and why would they have a problem with it?
Wolverine had a cigar in the beginning of the movie which also didn't have anything to do with the final conflict.
So Nightcrawler teleports the Pheonix to a different place just so it can continue from there?
He needed mutants to see if Cerebro worked in killing them. I think they even said that in the movie.
Yea, because nobody would know where the mansion was.

"if x-men 2 is supposed to be one of the best comic book movies ever made then why does it have these problems"
Best is not a complete lack of problems"
"Nightcrawler was a man of faith who valued life yet left Jason Striker to be crushed by rocks"
Nightcrawler was a man of faith with very little time to stop and ponder the moral situation because a huge flood was coming. See: Noah.
"Professor Xavier who was seen with the ability to freeze time and control people minds is kidnapped by striker and forced to do his bidding"
Who's mind would he read? The guard probably didn't even know what was gonna happen, and Xavier often visited Magneto.
"Xavier who is a smart people is not brainwashed but is shown illusions goes along with it despite the fact that he should know its not real"
The illusionist kid had the upper hand in this regard, presenting a scenario where none of what had happened had happened. It's sort of like a dream, really.
"Bobby confesses his being a mutant to his family while ON THE RUN FROM THE MILITARY and not one of the mutants have a problem with this"
Obvious forced metaphor for homosexuality. But honestly, where else could they have fit it. Also, it is just a movie.
"Rogue and Iceman are giving a lot of screen time but have nothing to do in the resolution of the final conflict"
No that muh time, as I recall.
"Jean Grey's just didn't seem to be a neccesary sacrifice when Nightcrawler was around"
Nightcrawler probably wouldn't have been able to take 20 people with the little time they had, and he couldn't have lifted the ship(which admittedly, failed all too conveniently. Also, just a movie.
"Striker invaded the mansion for no real purpose since he only wanted to kill all mutants and only Charles and Cerebro"
The purpose is that he hated mutants. That was his motivation, remember? And besides, he WOULD strike at their school because he knew that the X-Men had ways of getting to him.
"He built a replica of cerebro when he could have used the one in the mansion"
He took over the school was after building his own Cerebro. Also, I don't think he was allowed to officially use Cerebro to kill all the mutants. The takeover of the School was an official military operation9remember h was asking the president for permission?). The kidnapping of Xavier and whatever was going on in Alkali Lake was his not legally sanctioned, and he would probably get in trouble for doing so.
"I enjoyed the x-men films but none of them came close to the ideal x-men movie"
Eh. The Ideal X-Men film is a variable thing.
"I also find it hilarious that the film as being hailed as one of the best when the genre is twenty to thirty years old" Uh...How many years should go on before something can be the best at it's sub genre.

Wow, you must have paid less attention to X-2 than you do to your spelling. Those were some of the most ridiculous plot holes I've ever seen anyone come up with. Its not a perfect movie, and it does have plenty of plot devices that failed or were questionable, but none of your examples are valid criticisms of the film. Watch it again, and actually think about the purpose of each thread and scene.

Hmm, maybe I should submit my treatment I wrote after seeing X3 with Mr Sinister as the main villain and bringing back Cyclops and Jean Grey, introducing Gambit, and Rogue on 'lockdown' because her powers could return at anytime and possibly be even more powerful....
Hmm, Hmm indeed

I would love to see Singer make X-men 4. This way you can rewrite the errors of three. I really do not want to see more prequel movies. One is alright with me. Why because you know the end is X-Men 3. So I would much prefer to see what happens next.
You see at the end Magneto getting his powers back so every one else can get there's back too. Plus for the people that died there are ways to bring them back. Even the last part after the end credits gave you a hint. So for me I want to see X4 over more spin-offs.
Plus I would like to see the movies being at least 3 hours. Because you have all these characters and will give them more time to be shown. Also as much as Wolverine is cool more characters other then him need to be shown.
So I would love a part four.

I would prefer he return to Superman series myself. Superman Returns is good on many levels, Tarantino wrote a 3 page review on how brilliant it is. Head to my review site at http://sickpicks.blogspot.com/ for cool reviews. I'm posting a Superman Returns one within a few days, maybe tonight. Thanks!!

I'd like ot see the origin of Xavier, and Magneto. How the two teamed up, How Xavier ended up in a wheelchair, even how he lost his hair.
I think the mistake the X-Men, and Spider-Man 3 made was trying to lob too many characters into one movie. They did that with X 3 and with X-Men Origins:Wolverine. I know everyone has their favorites, but 1 main villain and 1 hero, or heroine per movie is enough. Too many of either, and you risk losing the character development issue. Use The Dark Knight as an example: 1 really good villian, and 1 hero/Heroine, and we're all set. (yes I know technically Dark Knight had two villains, but I think they wasted the character of Two-Face needlessly)

Reunion film please! I loved X-Men and X-2 and I pretend that X-3 never happened. If I could have all my wishes come true one would be that the world was at peace, the other that I'd be rich, and the third would be that Bryan Singer would come back and remake X-3. Sure it's only been a couple years but they did it with Hulk.... Make it happen!

I wish that at least reboot Rogue to make her the kick butt female she really is and a Southern also. My initial thought was to have Jamiee Pressley to play Rogue.

Not interested in first class, or another Wolverine movie. Personally, I'd much rather see an X-men 4 .. with another supervillain like Apocalypse , Mr. Sinister or.. Galactus. I dont know the backstory personally to any of those characters.. but Singer should def. read up where I havent. Hell, i'd love to see Onslaught if it can be pulled off.
if not an X-men 4, then definetely X-men origins: Xavier/Magneto .
