Robert Pattinson Talks 'Breaking Dawn' & 'Unbound Captives'

Good news, Twilight fans. You have the first official news for the fourth Twilight installment, courtesy of our own Jen Yamato, FearNet and the New Moon junket.* The magically-coiffed Robert Pattinson has confirmed that Breaking Dawn will begin filming in Fall 2010, and that it's penciled into his schedule for next year.Of course, Dawn remains unconfirmed by Summit. The most controversial installment of the Twilight series, rumors swirl that the studio is hesitant to take it to the big screen. If it is made, it seems likely that it could be split into two films a'la Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Personally, I don't see Summit risking the money they'd make on #4, and they'll find a way to steer around the gorier aspects of the book. But now you know when to look for it, though you still have the madness of Eclipse pre-production to get through.
Pattinson also dished on the movie I want to mark on my calender (Sorry, I dig boots and spurs more than vampires), a Western called Unbound Captives. The directorial debut of Madeleine Stowe, it stars Hugh Jackman, Rachel Weisz, and Pattinson. The young heartthrob revealed that it's tenatively scheduled to begin shooting in early 2010, and he sounds enthusiastic for a role that'll be miles away from Edward Cullen. "I'm playing a kid who is kidnapped by Comanches when he was four years old, and he is brought up by them. His mother spends her entire life trying to find me and my sister. When she finds us, we can't remember who she is and can't remember anything about the Western culture she grew up in. I speak Comanche the whole movie. You can't really speak more differently from Edward."
[Special thanks also goes to Collider who apparently pried the Breaking Dawn date out of Mr. Pattinson]

I'm so devastatingly depressed that I know this, but Breaking Dawn is the fourth Twilight installment, not the third...

Thanks for the post, Elisabeth! One thing: Eclipse pre-production and filming has already come and gone. Finished filming in October, and David Slade has until next summer to edit and make it sparkle. :)

Contriversial? Are you serious? What is so contriversial about Breaking Dawn? The marriage or the conception of the hybrid child? Maybe its the birth of said child and the transformation of Bella. Or perhaps that the best friend/werewolf finds his soulmate with the hybrid child and bands his pack and that of his 'brother' Sam's? The fight scene with the Volturi and the end, that love conquers all? I'm completely lost. Does anyone go to the theatre anymore? Have you had your eyes open and watched the crap that ends up on screen? Please!!!

Controversial? Seriously?
I am a stubborn reader, and actually read the whole series. Hated the first three, except for bits and pieces.
However, the last book was absolutely, shockingly -- and to my absolute horror -- GREAT! It made reading the series totally worthwhile. Not often you get payoff after so much work. :)
If they water this down, or fear "controversy" (still... huh?), that's a disaster. But given the amount of money to be made, I'm not really afraid of this... more afraid of wild and stupid changes to the story, which is far more likely than not making the last movie.

I can't see why they would need to work around anything in Breaking Dawn--hope they don't because the Bella's pregnancy is what I always reference for people who think the series was totally bloodless. I think at least most women would have to cop to the darkness and horror of those images.

OMG you are so wrong. What so bad about these books? Appartenly you didn't understand or grip the intensity these books had. These books also if you think about are really for young adults and teenagers, so if your an adult and you don't like it then stop bitching and find something else to read and quit bagging on Stephanie Meyers. Don't Hate the playa Hate the game, i liked to see you all do better she's got more money than you'll ever have.

Just got back from watching New Moon and thought that Chris Weitz did an outstanding job following the storyline and creating a likeness to the world that Stephanie Meyer's portrayed in her saga. I was up north when the filming of Eclipse was underway and happened upon a couple of the actors who were quite humble in their interactions with their adoring fans. I'm looking forward to the next installment, and as an AVID reader of paranormal and a writer myself, I give high praise and kudos to all involved in the aforementioned projects. Am looking forward to the public committment that Summit will undoubtably make to the final book, Breaking Dawn. Look out America, its coming!!!
