Anne Hathaway Up for 'Spider-Man 4' Role?

And the list of women who may or may not appear in Spider-Man 4 continues to grow. Now Nikki Finke over at Deadline Hollywood reports through her sources (who, when it comes to Marvel, seem to be pretty reliable) that producers have "approached" Anne Hathaway regarding a starring role in Spider-Man 4. It doesn't say she's been offered the role, or that she's in negotiations to take on the role, only that she's been approached.
Finke also wasn't sure which role it would be, though all signs point to it being that of Black Cat -- who, in the past couple weeks -- has seen everyone from Julia Stiles to Rachel McAdams vying for a piece of that pus ... Spidey pie. Hathaway definitely showed off her acrobatic side in last summer's Get Smart, and certainly has enough of that hottie-yet-down-to-earth sex appeal to draw Mr. Parker into a web of problematic romantic entanglements. Personally, I still like Stiles for the role, but that's me. The studio, however, probably figures they'll get more butts in the seats with Hathaway. So we'll see. Regardless, we're getting close to an official announcement. Who do you want?
Spider-Man 4 hits theaters on May 6, 2011.

Well growing up as a fan of the Spiderman animated series in the 90's, I liked the Black cat's charm and if that same type of character role is to be in the movie I would say that Rachel McAdams would be a good pick but more so as the Felicia Hardy aspect side that flirts with Peter Parker. But since that was just rumors I wouldn't mind Julia Stiles as the role but definitely not Anne Hathaway, though I do like Anne she just doesn't fit the role in my eyes.
Also I saw in some of the other comments for previous news on the Black Cat, a few of the commentors kind of got the idea that Black Cat is no different from Cat woman, but there definitely is a difference between the 2, to sum it up I would say Cat woman is more a villain and Black Cat is an Ally to spiderman with the occasional going against him solely for her personal issues (pertaining to her relationship with Morpheus and issues with her Father).
But hopefully the director makes a good pick.

She's waaaaaay too tall for Maguire! Shouldn't that matter?

Oh, I actually think that would work for the dynamic.

Sounds good to me. She definitely has the physique to fill the role. Plus she has legitimate acting chops which is always a good thing. Julie Stiles? No thanks. She has no charisma. Rachel McAdams would have been a good choice, but Anne Hathaway has the body for it.

Hathaway is a great choice to give ol' Spidey a run for his money, so to speak.

I can see Hathaway as Black Cat more then I can see Julia Stiles. Granted I haven't seen a Julia Stiles film in awhile. I know we're getting more into phyical attributes. What woman has them and what woman doesn't. And I know the movies haven't really been about that. Kristen Dunst certainly doesn't have the physical features Mary Jane has. Yet I can see Anne's Black Cat being that flirtatious Felicia w/ Peter Parker. I think it was wrong for them to have made Gwen Stacy a character in the third movie. She was reduced to a girl with a crush when in the comics she was so much more. She was Peter's first love. Again I'm worried that too many characters may bog down the movie unnecessairly.

I could see either one handling the role, but I think Hathaway would be the better fit. However, I have a hard time seeing her taking the part. I know a lot of celebrities these days are jumping into the comic book movie scene, but she doesn't strike me as the type that would be very interested. Feel free to prove me wrong Anne!

Hathaway would be an amazing choice! The mere thought of Stiles doing it over Hathaway makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

well, since they can't travel back in time and get Kelly Preston circa 1985 into that suit ...
Anne Hathaway is a perfect acceptable substitute.

I can't believe most of you guys think Anne is a good choice for the Black cat, I mean she's a very good actress and all. But she in no way fits this roll. Plus when the black cat is in her normal life Felicia Hardy role herhair is blonde and Anne wouldn't look great as a blonde. The Black cat/ Felicia Hardy role is more so like a Kate Hudson, she is a flirt towards Peter Parker with big charisma. Anne to me would just look like a nerd in a suit. But this is supposed to be Spiderman 4 so I guess for all you 'Great' fans of spiderman3 will just love Anne in this one. If she is the black cat call me when marvel gets their rights back from sony and the series gets rebooted.

I'd have preferred McAdams; she could've filled out that catsuit...
But, hey, it's not Megan Fox. That's fine with me.

Hathaway would be a great choice. She has the looks and she can be really flirtatuous. Also, she is really misterious when she wants. Besides, she's a great actress.
I can't imagine Stiles getting the role. McAdams would be more acceptable.
But Hathaway is nearly perfect for the role.

Anne Hathaway makes me want to eat glass. I won't even go see the next Spiderman if she's in it. It's not even her acting, it's her nerdy wanna-be hot girl looks. Rachel McAdams is ten thousand times hotter.
