Hey, kids and Avatar: The Last Airbender fans! If you want to see the tv spot for The Last Airbender, but you don't want to sit through the Superbowl due to a dislike of the teams, football, or the obnoxious people in your household, you're in luck! UGO has been lucky enough to obtain the top secret, ultra-exclusive television spot. They were kind enough to let us embed it here so that you can watch it again and again.
You'll definitely have to do that, because it's over in a flash. (Ponder how much they spend to air this during Superbowl Sunday, then giggle at getting to see it for free.) Those of you familiar with the Nickelodeon series will be able to spot lots of references to the show. According to UGO (I'm quoting them because I only have a Wikipedia based knowledge of this series), you get scenes of "achieving Avatar State, waterbending, earthbending and firebending, and of the Fire Nation Navy in battle. Sharp eyes might even catch a glimpse of Gran Gran!" One of their really eagle-eyed readers says that Appa the Sky Bison is in there, too, but I must need my eyes checked because I don't see anything that looks like a bison in that scene.
To a newbie, it looks like quite the fantasy film, and I'm reminded for the millionth time that I should watch the series one of these days. I've got until July 2, 2010 so maybe I will. In the meantime, what do you fans think of this first real teaser? Did M. Night Shyamalan get it right?
Additionally, we've also added the Robin Hood Superbowl spot after the jump. Which summer film looks more appetizing to you?

You can see the bison move at 00:09. I had to Google a pic of him to understand what I'm looking for. The huge arrow on his forehead and his big flat platypus tail give him away.
That's pretty cool stuff. Looks like it will be fun.

The Last Airbender looks pretty and would be better had their been no voice over thank goodness it was brief! As a fan of the cartoon I geeked out a little bit watching the benders.
Robin Hood is Gladiator in England, but I'm completely OK with that since I love these types of movies. Russel Crowe in period garb always gets my attention.

I was really hoping you guys had refrained from posting about the trailer for The Last Airbender. To answer any questions about if it will reflect the show, the answer is a simple: No. Why? The animated series, while created in the U.S., was entirely based in a fictionalized East Asian world (as stated by the creators). The film on the other hand was specifically cast with white actors and then, even more unfortunate, recast so that the heroes are white and the villains are of color. This isn't just a fan rant, Hollywood has a long history of white-washing their casting under the assumption that white=norm=money. Ergo there is a growing group boycotting The Last Airbender. Except that Zuko isn't white, and he's not a villain, either.

Good grief this has been argued over and over, people really need to quit bringing this up. If you look at the credits you would know the creators of the show are executive producers for the film, Shyamalan went through them with a lot of this stuff so if it's in the film then the creators of the show seem to be okay with it. Another thing is they decided to use different races for the film mainly because there are 4 nations therefore they decided 4 different ethnicities for the movie, the earth kingdom cast is mainly Asian while the fire nation is mainly Indian, the water tribe is caucasian and eskimo and well you can't really tell what the air nomads are since Aang is the last one, we'll probably see Monk Gyatso though. Bottom line the movie has been made it's happening and the cast they picked is in the film, the more you protest the film for the cast the dumber you look because it won't change anything in the end. Just see the movie and decide don't judge it now because things aren't going to be the way you want.

I agree with Karah. Watching little Caucasian kids pretending to be Inuits and Tibetan monks is just going to look ridiculous.

This might not even be the complete trailer, it was initially being rumored to being 2 minutes long, this one is aout 25 seconds (removing the number of times Shyamanlal mentions his name).

That trailer just set my mind at ease. It looks awesome! Appa in that brief glimpse was way better than I thought they would make him.
