WHERE DO YOU WRITE FROM?
A secluded corner of the steamy jungles of New England. Often I write from home, but like any good blogger I've found myself facing a deadline and tearing around town with my laptop trying to find a WiFi hotspot.
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO WRITE ABOUT MOVIES?
I love writing, I love movies. It's a match made in heaven. I started writing for film fanzines then worked my way up to publications like Factsheet 5 (I was the main B-movie zine reviewer for several years) Video Eyeball, Rue Morgue and Phantom of the Movies Videoscope.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE GENRE?
Horror.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES?
Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead 2, Bride of Frankenstein, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Donnie Darko, The Flesh Eaters, Akira, Clerks, Gigli (just checking to see if you're paying attention).
WHO ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE DIRECTORS?
Kevin Smith, Sam Raimi, Mario Bava, Martin Scorsese
WHAT'S THE CRAZIEST COMMENT YOU'VE EVER GOTTEN?
That would have to be the guy who called me a moron (overreact much?) because I had posted that Nicholas Cage would be playing Fu Manchu in the Werewolf Women of the SS section of Grindhouse. He said this couldn't possibly be true because the character is still under copyright. Imagine my delight when Cage did indeed show up as Fu Manchu.
WHAT ARE THE BEST PERKS OF THIS GIG?
The dancing girls, of course, to say nothing of the twenty-year-old scotch, but those things pale next to the allure of free screener DVDs.
WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WRITING FOR CINEMATICAL?
I believe I already mentioned the scotch. Also, it allows me to associate with some damn fine writers.
