Sure, Hollywood is doing cartwheels trying to stop
piracy of movies, shutting down certain internet sites and fining those who help piracy live on, but you can still
download movies legally, and for free! That is, movies that are now in the public domain and freely available to
redistribute.
Public Domain Torrents has some pretty cool titles,
such as
Metropolis and
Night of the Living Dead, while you can also choose to visit the
Internet Archive: Feature Films site to browse a few more, like
Nosferatu and
Dressed To Kill. Not too shabby at all.

As many
Harry Potter fans have heard, the next book released in the series is
reported to be the last. Harry and friends will wrap up what they've set out to do, and that'll be how things will end. Or is it? Is it possible that the series could thrive on in another form, perhaps as a spin-off of some kind?
Here are my picks, in order, of the most likely scenario for spinning off the
Harry Potter franchise:

Alright, so I haven't kept up my end of the bargain in keeping up with my B-flick reviews, but hopefully my
preview of tonight's premiere episode of Showtime's
Masters of Horror
will whet the appetite for horror fans out there or maybe just those
looking for their Halloween fright fix. Be forewarned, though -- the
preview contains spoilers. Over on TV Squad, I'll continue to review
each of the remaining 12 episodes throughout the show's run.

I'm a bit of a newcomer when it comes to Asian horror flicks. I'm not talking about the American remakes like
The Ring or
The Grudge, but the originals like
Ringu and
Ju-on. I had heard a lot about one particular Japanese horror flick that gave people nightmares for months, so of course I had to see it. The movie is
Ôdishon (or
Audition), and I now forget what sweet dreams are like.

I played the first
Max Payne game on my PS2 years ago and remember thinking how very movielike the story and gameplay were. When the sequel was released, I just knew a movie wasn't far behind. Sure enough, 20th Century Fox has plans to put the pain-killer popping revenge seeker on the big screen. The story is said to center on the origin's of Max Payne, so should we assume that means prior to game one? I didn't think Max was much fun before that, but I could be wrong. to flesh out the story and fill those holes in a meaningful way." Funny, I thought novels did that.

I remember seeing
Child's Play back in 1988 and laughing my fool head off at the mere thought of a puppet as a living, breathing brutal killer. I'd cackle out loud with my friends as Chucky would flail his floppy legs around, as his victim tried desperately to shake him off their neck. Sure, that was all fun for one movie, but five movies? With the recent DVD release of
Seed of Chucky, it was time I found out.

Recently on a few movie-related forums I visit, I saw mention of
Cabin Fever being the goriest movie they had ever seen. It's not an old movie, only having been in theaters two years ago. I remember the trailer not being anything special and thinking, "how could a movie about a disease be that scary?" For the most part I was right, and I want to know what
Cabin Fever those folks on the forums saw because this can't be it.

I fondly recall going to the theater with friends to watch serial killer/monster/zombie Jason Voorhees stick pitchforks through campers at good ol' Crystal Lake. It didn't matter how many years of bloody, gruesome murders occurred at the lakeside camp - the teens just kept on coming. Apparently Jason got bored with the whole camping scene and wanted to see what the Big Apple was all about. Ah, Chrystal Lake - what has become of thee?

I thought that headline looked like a typo when I first saw it mentioned, too. Upon returning from a trip through Europe promoting her new film
House of Wax, Paris Hilton got engaged to Greek shipping heir Paris Latsis. I thought Paris was a unique name for a woman the first time I heard it, and now I see it's a unisex name. Wow, I just used unisex and Paris Hilton in a sentence and it totally didn't mean anything sexual!
