Catherine Hardwicke's Post-'Twilight' Life

It looks like leaving Twlight was the best thing Catherine Hardwicke could do. While there have been insider murmurings and rumors that Summit wasn't happy with her work, that's not stopping her from getting a whole heck of a lot of it now that she's left the vampires behind. We've already heard about Maximum Ride, If I Stay, and the modern Hamlet. Now The Hollywood Reporter's Risky Biz Blog is saying that there are also some biggie projects that could end up on her plate.

First, Hardwicke is said to be in negotiations to helm The Girl with the Red Riding Hood -- the Appian Way/Leonardo DiCaprio project I mentioned earlier this month. (Variety, meanwhile, seems to think it's definite.) But that's not all. It seems she's also in early talks to helm the new feature film version of 21 Jump Street -- the project Jonah Hill is writing and thinking about starring in. Of course, there could be scheduling problems with all of these productions, so that will definitely play into whether she gets the gigs.

Jonah Hill Has R-Rated Plans for '21 Jump Street'

You know, there really isn't any point complaining about Hollywood remaking old TV shows into movies -- why, you may ask? Well, mainly because it seems like it's going to happen no matter what we do. So while I understand when fans get a little bent out of shape when their favorite show is next in line for a 're-imagining'; for the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to get all protective over 21 Jump Street. Last year the news broke that Jonah Hill was writing an adaptation of the cult TV show, and immediately there was an outcry that he would be turning their beloved series into a comedy. But, for fans of the teen cop drama, there is still hope, because in a recent interview with Complex, Hill gave an update on his remake and told them that "[Sony execs said] they were gonna let me make my kind of movie-an R-rated, insane, Bad-Boys-meets-John Hughes-type movie-and I told them the second they don't, I'm not gonna be involved anymore," -- and Hill has proven already that he has no qualms about walking away from projects that aren't working for him.

After the jump; so what exactly does Hill have planned for his Jump Street remake?

Is Jonah Hill Developing a '21 Jump Street' Movie?

We've been hearing about a possible 21 Jump Street movie for awhile now, and if Entertainment Weekly is to be believed, it looks like that film might be happening with Apatow love child Jonah Hill, who's in negotiations to work on the screenplay and executive produce. We assume Hill would also star in one of the lead roles, though that probably depends on whether they go the strict comedic route with this. 21 Jump Street, the TV show, was a pretty big hit during the '80s, and it starred Johnny Depp as one of a group of young cops who went undercover in high schools to help troubled kids.

I dig it. Something like this would only work today if it was done with a sense of humor, I think, and so bringing in Hill to sprinkle on some Superbad-ish jokes might work well for the film ... even though all the raunchy stuff would make it a completely different monster, and when it was all said and done, would probably have nothing whatsoever to do with the original TV show (besides the name and the premise). Could you see 21 Jump Street: The Movie working as an Apatow-esque comedy? Does it work better as a drama? And who would you like to see joining Hill as a fellow undercover officer?

Stars in Rewind: Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp Kill Kids with Mullets

We've already brought you Brad Pitt selling Pringles. But how about the good old days when Brad acted his young heart out? Well, you could say acted, but his talents back in the '80s do not reveal the success to come. You can search around and find some embarrassing clips from his stint on Dallas, but I thought I would throw up a little pirate flavor.

Back in 1988, Pitt popped up as a high school student in an episode of 21 Jump Street. Along with Captain Jack Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise (who is currently a director on the new Canadian show jPod), you'll also notice Cheryl Pollak -- who played smartie Paige Woodward in Pump Up the Volume. So her brother spends a night in jail, with his super-saucy mullet, and letterman-jacket Pitt teases him mercilessly because the bad dude partied without him. I have to say, Pitt's voice sure got deeper over the years. Brad totally could've pulled off a cross-dressing role back then.
