For All Those Who Still Believe in Fairies: 'Tinkerbell' on DVD

All children, except one, grow up -- but hopefully none of them become so cynical as to lose their belief in fairies. For those who still believe, or who might need a refresher course, Disney is releasing Tinkerbell to DVD and Blu-Ray on October 28th. It's Tinkerbell's first solo film, and the first time she will actually speak onscreen. Considering that she now boasts her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it's about time she gets to headline her own movie. At last, Tinkerbell fans (and there are a lot of them!) will find out her origin, her specialty as a tinker fairy, and learn about her hometown of Pixie Hollow, the home of Disney's Fairies. Tinkerbell is the big debut of Disney's Fairies, and they will undoubtedly become a sparkly obsession to rival the Disney Princesses. By next Halloween, you might be seing fewer ballgowns, and more wings and leaf-based dresses. Very ecological!
The movie looks pretty charming, and the animation is quite lovely -- I'm hypnotized by the leaves and the sparkles of Queen Clarion's dress. And it boasts a very talented cast: Angelica Huston, America Ferrera, Jane Horrocks, Kristen Chenoweth, Lucy Liu, and Kathy Najimy are among the actresses who lent their voices to the fairy cast. Angelica Huston, people. If she can admit she believes in fairies, then the rest of us can too.

There's plenty of girly goodies to be found -- you can make your own fairy, explore Pixie Hollow, meet its pixie inhabitants, and much more. Sean Astin Joins 'Spirit of the Forest'

Sean Astin is returning to the land of fantasy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Astin is joining Angelica Huston, Giovanni Ribisi and Ron Perlman in the CGI-animated Spirit of the Forest, an eco fairy tale for Fantastic Films International and Spain's Dygra Films.Astin and Ribisi play two gopher friends who's forest home is threatened by an evil businesswoman, voiced by Huston, who wants to build a highway in its place. With the help of an old oak tree, played by Perlman, the forest fights back with a vengeance. (I think they missed the boat by not having Viggo Mortensen play the oak tree.)
Bill Murray to Re-Team with Wes Anderson on 'The Fantastic Mr. Fox'

There are many iconic pairings of actor and director: DeNiro and Scorsese; Bogart and Huston; Mifune and Kurosawa; Depp and Burton. One of the best recurring collaborations, though, is Bill Murray and Wes Anderson. The comedic actor appears in almost all of Anderson's movies (maybe one day he can be digitally imposed into Bottle Rocket a la Jabba in Star Wars), including The Darjeeling Limited, which opens tomorrow. I haven't seen the new movie yet, but I did read a great piece about Anderson in this week's New York magazine, and I have to say that Murray and Anderson were made for each other. Whether it is true or not that the filmmaker really had to deliver a suitcase with $14,000 in cash from Murray to a guy named Luigi is beside the point; the story just proves the duo have a fun sense of humor that can involve the other at any given time. That's why it isn't surprising to learn that Murray will be voicing a character in Anderson's stop-motion-animated film, The Fantastic Mr. Fox (and I don't mean because Murray would avail his voice to anything). MTV Movies Blog chatted with Anderson about the film, which is still a few years in the making, and got other confirmations on its cast of voices. Yes, George Clooney is definitely on board as "Mr. Fox", and also Jason Schwartzman is doing a voice, too. There is no mention, however, of Cate Blanchett or Angelica Huston, both of whom are said to be part of the film. It also wasn't revealed which characters Murray and Schwartzman would be doing. The Fantastic Mr. Fox will be Murray and Anderson's fifth movie together (and Schwartzman's fourth with the director, if you count shorts), and will likely be far from the last. The film also reunites Anderson with his Life Aquatic co-writer Noah Baumbach; the script is based on the book by Roald Dahl.
Anjelica Huston To Direct Give Us a Kiss

Is there much clout in Hollywood from being a member of an honest-to-goodness Hollywood dynasty? These days, I doubt the average Drew Barrymore fan really cares about her grandpa John. Anjelica Huston was the daughter of director John Huston (The African Queen) who was something of an icon in the industry. She might BBC Film news reports that Huston has signed to direct the film adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's novel of the same name. Woodrell's novel is described as a "Country Noir", with most of the action taking place in the Ozark mountain range. The story centers on a crime novelist and his underachieving brother who become tangled up in a drug deal gone awry. Angus MacLachlan, who also wrote Junebug, is adapting the novel for the screen. There have yet to be any casting announcements, but I would think Anjelica's name should be enough to draw in the talent.
