For those folks out there who've been dying to see a) Lindsay Lohan in a new movie and/or b) Lindsay Lohan fake a pregnancy in order to keep a job, then you simply must watch the new trailer for Labor Pains. (Too bad this sucker couldn't hit on Labor Day! HA! Not funny.) We've told you about the flick before; in it, Lohan plays a secretary who's about to be fired when she suddenly decides to say she's pregnant in order to stay employed. Hilarity ensues when she needs to keep it up -- going so far as to create a fake belly and take on pregnant woman activities, such as lamaze class.

The trailer claims the film is still in post production, so one imagines this is just a little teaser to whet your appetite. Directed by Lara Shapiro, Lohan stars opposite Cheryl Hines, Chris Parnell and Luke Kirby. The trailer voiceover definitely gives it a nice direct-to-DVD touch, and the comedy seems targeted toward the teen-to-pre-teen crowd. Not exactly the perfect follow-up to I Know Who Killed Me, but I'd say La Lohan is heading in a slightly more watchable direction. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. ... But will she remain onboard long enough to actually start shooting? Since the film begins production on June 9, La Lohan only has four days to fudge it up. (I think I know who's getting an extra prayer at meal time tonight!) Yes, according to Variety, Lindsay Lohan will star in Labor Pains, rescuing the film from "limbo," along with Nu Image/Millennium Films Overnight Productions. Capitol Films were originally set to finance the flick, but they've had money issues as of late (remember the whole "Nailed situation?").

Starring alongside Chris Parnell, Cheryl Hines (who's doing a TON of film work these days), Luke Kirby and Connie Britton, Lohan will play a publishing house assistant who fakes a pregnancy so that her "nasty" boss won't fire her. Seems like an odd premise for a film -- kinda Devil Wears Prada with a twist of ... fake pregnancy? Producer Rick Schwartz gave this nugget of a quote: "I didn't know Lindsay before this, but we looked each other in the eye three months ago, and she has done everything I could have asked."

Note to everyone else in the world: Look Lindsay in the eye and she'll fulfill your every wish and command.

Monday night I had the privilege of seeing Dewey Cox -- better known as John C. Reilly -- live at The Roxy ("Coxy") Theater on the Sunset Strip. Cox and his band The Hard Walkers put on a hell of a show, tearing through all the hits from Cox's glorious career -- soon to be given the big screen treatment in Walk Hard. Reilly came out of the gate ready to rock, and stayed in character all night. He came off like a cruder, nastier Elvis Presley -- guzzling tequila, repeatedly calling us all "motherf***ers, making a downright overwhelming amount of "Cox" jokes, and asking a woman in the audience if he could grab her breast. And grab he did!

But what about the music? Cox performed nearly every track from the Walk Hard soundtrack, and considering this was his "first performance since 1984," he was in fine voice. Reilly dropped out of tune for a song or two but on the whole he sounded pretty terrific, especially on the strangely affecting Roy Orbison homage "A Life Without You (Is No Life at All)." Other standouts included the Johnny Cashtastic "Guilty as Charged," the rollicking "You've Got to Love Your Negro Man," and the hilariously offensive protest song "Dear Mr. President." Reilly played guitar and harmonica pretty well, but since the actors in Cox's movie band (Chris Parnell, Tim Meadows) don't really play, they had to watch on from the audience -- along with co-writer/director Jake Kasdan and Judd Apatow -- while a stand-in group of musicians rocked the house.

The show closed with a shirtless Cox moaning through the beguiling "Have You Heard the News (Dewey Cox Died)," rubbing his nipples, and throwing down his microphone. I can't imagine anyone leaving the theater disappointed, and if the live show is any indication, Walk Hard is going to be one hysterical movie. Wanna see Cox? When I first met director Scott Prendergast, he had just crammed a huge gumball into his mouth, and was struggling to speak and couldn't touch anything, due to the fact that he had sticky gumball residue all over his hands. He gave the universally renown sign for "Uhhh, I need one second" and went to the bathroom to wash his hands and masticate that gum a bit more.

Once he was back, with clean hands and a jaw working like a well-oiled piston, we talked about his film Kabluey, which I had just seen. The film is set in Austin, although according to Prendergast that's only because the Texas Film Commission had a pretty lucrative "shoot your film here!" program that he took advantage of, and the setting in Kabluey is meant to be Anytown, U.S.A. We'll have an interview with Prendergast soon, and I'll let him wax poetic about making the film then. For now, I'll let you know what I thought about it, and how it made me want to go out and get a big blue costume as well.

Ok, raise your hand if you've never seen the video Lazy Sunday starring Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg and Chris Parnell? If you have your hand up now, please go immediately over to YouTube and watch the hilarious video and then return here and continue reading. Why am I telling you to watch this video? Because if you do, you will get a glimpse of the comedic genius that is Andy Samberg. In that video and his other more recent work, Samberg's comedic talent is very apparent and obviuosly shows that he has the potential to be one of the next big comedy superstars.

To help illustrate my point, over at IGN they've dropped a trailer for his upcoming comedy Hot Rod, in which Samberg co-stars with Arrested Development's Will Arnett as a wanna-be stuntman performing an ever increasingly dangerous array of wild stunts in order to get enough money to pay for his step-father's heart operation. Over at the sight, they feature the latest trailer (in glorious HD no less) as well as the previous teaser, several stills from the film and the current poster. Among the bits shown in the new trailer are several scenes of Samberg showing off his stuntman prowess (such as it is), a training sequence featuring the great Ian McShane as his step-father and the big final stunt where Samberg's character is poised to jump a row of buses in order to get the money he needs.

After watching this brand new trailer, I'm even more convinced about Samberg and his talent. Say whatever you wish about the film after looking at the trailer, but I'm backing Samberg all the way. In fact, I'm predicting right now that he will be a huge comedy star in a very short time. He's got the chops and isn't afraid of looking stupid for the sake of being funny. Remember people, you heard it here first. Further proof will be evident when Hot Rod opens August 3rd.
