The idea of an island with wild creatures is nothing new. We've seen it many times before. However, this latest project in the long line of monster island movies has a bit of a twist to it. The Hollywood Reporter has posted that Regency has grabbed a new project called Cutlass Island, based on an upcoming book by Tom Wheeler. But instead of just voyages and strange creatures, old presidential icons are being thrown into the mix.The story centers on "a secret piece of legislation signed by Abraham Lincoln in 1863 called the Unique Lands and Species Act." Somehow, these two brothers discover this uber-secret document, and subsequently, the lost world that contains "mythological and magical creatures." As with any unchartered territory film, the boys will have to then protect this island from those who would destroy it. Considering the fact that I can now find pictures of the rural farmhouse I first lived in on Google, I can't help but wonder how long the whole idea of undiscovered territory can really work in this world ...
