Exclusive Images from 'Did You Hear About the Morgans?'

Cinematical has just received six exclusive new images from Did You Hear About the Morgans?, starring Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker as a New York Couple on the verge of divorce who witness a murder and, in an attempt to salvage their marriage (and save their lives), they join the witness protection program. But that's when things really get interesting, because the program sends our uptight, urban city dwellers all the way to the backwoods of Wyoming -- where the loud, obnoxious sounds of the city are replaced by the soft, calming sounds of nature. Will that be enough to save the marriage, though?

Sam Elliott, Mary Steenburgen and Elisabeth Moss also star in this comedy directed by Marc Lawrence (Forces of Nature, Miss Congeniality), who last worked with Grant on the charming Music and Lyrics. Will Grant's pairing with Sarah Jessica Parker work just as well as his on-screen pairing with Drew Barrymore did? I think maybe ... Head after the jump to check out the film's latest trailer, and click into the gallery below for the rest of the images. Did You Hear About the Morgans? hits theaters on December 18th ... just in time to give you folks who aren't in the mood for James Cameron's big flashy blue alien movie a little piece of comedic hilarity.

Trailer Park: Legions of Abiding Wolf Men

The Fourth Kind
Whether or not you actually believe in such things, this alien abduction thriller which is supposedly based on true events looks creepy as hell. Milla Jovovich stars and the film releases on November 6.

Legion
A motley crew of humans in an out of the way diner are the first point of attack for a band of angels who, acting upon God's orders, aim to exterminate humanity. This could be quite awesome, but this red band trailer is pretty long. I hope I haven't just seen all the good parts. The wrath of the almighty starts on January 22.

Gentlemen Broncos
Jemaine Clement stars as a science fiction writer who steals his latest book from a fan. Clement is hilarious on Flight of the Conchords and this seems like a similar brand of humor. The dramatizations of scenes from the swiped novel are priceless, and it's directed by the dude who brought us Napoleon Dynamite. This goes into limited release on October 30.

Did You Hear About the Morgans?
Romantic comedy in which a couple played by Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker find their strained relationship pushed even further when they have to join the witness protection program. The rumors start on December 11.

The new trailer over at Yahoo for Did You Hear About the Morgans? looks... adorable. There, I said it. Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker play two high-strung, high-powered NYC couples on the verge of divorce when, oops, they witness a murder and have to enroll in the Federal Witness Protection Program. They're sent to the middle of nowhere -- catch always-fab Mary Steenburgen wielding a shotgun -- and are forced to reexamine their relationship in close quarters. And milk cows.

Yes, hijinks ensue. Yes, it's Hugh Grant being neurotic and English, and SJP is being, well, a slightly more chill version of her Carrie Bradshaw character, and it's the whole "New Yorkers stuck out in the Midwest, oh noes!" thing, but it looks like a cute holiday flick. And I was instantly won over by Steenburgen. Sue me.

Check out the trailer for yourself after the jump (or over on Yahoo) and give me your two cents.

News Bites: Sarah Jessica Parker Gets a New Assistant & Rita Wilson Befriends Meryl Streep

Filed under: Comedy », Romance », Casting »

Here are some romcom news bites for your Monday:

Move over, Jennifer Hudson! Just last year, Sarah Jessica Parker had a romantic assistant who passworded all of her love letters with "love." Now THR reports that the Sex and the City star is getting a new assistant for her upcoming romcom Did You Hear About the Morgans? (The same project I mentioned here.) The assistant in question: Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss. But unlike her meek television personality, Moss will get to be a "controlling and almost obsessive-compulsive personality" -- which must get set off when her boss is shoved into witness protection.

Anyhow, it's about time she got a mainstream gig! Moss has had some other big feature work like Girl, Interrupted (she played Polly, the burned girl) and Virgin, which got her an Independent Spirit nomination, but it's been all television and low-buz gigs these days. It might be a romcom, but at least she won't have to be all soft and sweet this time around.

Meanwhile, the untitled Nancy Meyers pic is quickly turning into a who's who of the older funny set. Last we heard, the film boasted the likes of Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin. Now THR reports that Rita Wilson has been added into the mix, to play one of Streep's best friends. This definitely sounds like an improvement from Old Dogs for Wilson. And I can't help but hope: Who could be next? Teri Garr? Martin Short? Or, I cherish the thought -- Wilson's hubby Tom Hanks putting on his comedic hat once again?
