Cinematical Seven: Most Pointlessly Disgusting Scenes

Filed under: Comedy », Documentary », Horror », Sony », Universal », 20th Century Fox », Fox Searchlight », Cinematical Seven », Remakes and Sequels », Fox Atomic », Picturehouse »

I can think of at least three movies in the coming two weeks that feature scenes that are strikingly out of tone with the film they're a respective part of and yet seemingly included as a means of getting people to tell their loved ones how ridiculous Bit X in Movie Y is. And so today's Cinematical Seven list will be an arbitrary, far from ultimate compilation of the most distractingly disgusting and supremely superfluous parts in recent movies. Sure, most of these are comedies, and yes, most of them seem to have been released from the year 2000 on, and as always, we welcome your comments below. Just make sure they're not too gross.

(Speaking of which, NSFW clips follow after the jump.)

Trio Head for a Fast Food 'Summer'

Filed under: Comedy », Independent », Romance », Casting », Cinematical Indie »

What do you get when you merge a dork with a saucy ex-13-year-old and a tough, star-tattooed fighter of evil?

Variety
reports that DJ Qualls, Nikki Reed, and William Sadler have signed on for an indie comedy by Vlad Yudin called Last Day of Summer. The film, which has a SAG waiver and is already in production in the Big Apple, focuses on an an agitated dude who works at a fast-food place. When he can't take it anymore, he plans to get revenge on his boss, but finds the plan disrupted by a beautiful customer that drops by. I'll take a wild guess and say that Qualls is the worker, Sadler is the boss, and Reed is the customer. It may be a crap job, but at least you know that if Billy Zane comes to kill you, Sadler can fight him off.

So, we know that Reed is getting vampiric these days with Twilight, and Sadler is taking a trip to The Hills Run Red, but what about Qualls? Do you even remember the guy? I had totally forgotten his name, but this is the dorky dude who played Kyle on Road Trip and starred in The New Guy. Remember? Is it time for a Qualls comeback!?

Delta Farce Poster: Exclusive First Look

Delta Farce poster premiere

There it is, folks -- the unveiling of the brand-new poster for Delta Farce, the upcoming war comedy that calls to mind such classic flicks as Stripes and Spies Like Us.

The film stars Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall and DJ Qualls as three beer-swilling blue-collar buddies who get mistaken for Army Reservists and shipped off to the Iraq War. Sounds kind of serious, you say? Well, things take a turn for the funny when the buddies get mistakenly dumped in Mexico and -- convinced they are indeed in the Middle East -- end up defending a rural village from a karaoke-loving warlord (Danny Trejo). Look for Delta Farce in theaters May 11.

Delta Farce Trailer Hits YouTube With a Thud

Filed under: Comedy », Lionsgate Films », Trailer Trash »

Not since the days of Ernest Joins the Army have you seen a trailer like this one. The title of the movie is Delta Farce, but based on what Dictionary.com tells me, a "farce" is "a light, humorous play in which the plot depends upon a skillfully exploited situation rather than upon the development of character." You go watch the trailer yourself and tell me if we don't have a case of false advertising here.

Starring Keith David, DJ Qualls and (yes) Larry the Cable Guy (who describes the movie as "The Three Stooges meets Platoon" (lord help us), Delta Farce looks to be some sort of parody of the Iraq war, but since it's about three idiots who accidentally "invade" Mexico, somehow I doubt it's all that interested in social satire or insightful jokes. Lionsgate presently has the movie scheduled for a May 11 release date, but I'm expecting that date to get pushed back (and directly to video) some time soon. Just a reminder: Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector grossed about $16 million in domestic box office last year. So if you paid money to go see that one, I blame you for Delta Farce.
