Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler Chat Unscripted
Filed under: Comedy », Romance », Interviews », Trailers and Clips »
The moment has finally come. P.S. I Love You opens this week -- the sad and funny romcom that stars Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. You might remember my previous posts on the film. I've been following it ever since the production gave me my favorite example of spastic injuries back in November of last year, when Swank got hurt. Why? During one scene, Butler does a striptease, and a flying suspender beaned her on the head and required stitches. Since then, there's been a slew of images, and a trailer to check out. There was also the chance, earlier this month, to submit questions for Moviefone's Unscripted series. The questions were picked, Butler and Swank chatted away, and the new clip is now up over at Moviefone. You'll get the chance to see Swank laugh a lot and give affection to Butler's new shoe, lots of talk of letter writing, and all that love-related sort of stuff. They even mention the accident, but only in passing, unfortunately. Most of the time, it's just the two joking around. Hearing how Butler talks about a scene that includes a powerful embrace surrounded by cheering music fans, it's no wonder that he's looking to stop the whole historical action drama theme. Gerry's got a big ole soft spot.
P.S. I Love You is the tale of a woman (Swank), who falls for the perfect Irish man (Butler), only to lose him to an illness. But he's not completely gone. To help his love get over the shock of his death, he's created a number of letters that get sent to her, guiding her to take chances and move on to her next love. Could it be Harry Connick, Jr.? Jeffrey Dean Morgan? James Marsters? Not bad choices at all. If only every girl could have those men to choose from.
Zellweger and Connick to Get 'Chilled in Miami'

So there's this new fish-out-of-water comedy coming our way, and funny enough, it's being directed by a Danish filmmaker. Variety has reported that Jonas Elmer (Let's Get Lost), is going to helm a new comedy called Chilled in Miami. The film, which is about a Miami businesswoman who gets transferred to the middle-of-nowhere Minnesota, will star Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. -- if negotiations continue as planned. The comedy used to be called 32 and Single, and was penned by Ken Rance and C. Jay Cox. Since the latter wrote Sweet Home Alabama, I'm sure Harry will be some sort of sexy hickster who teaches Renee about the perks of Minnesota living. Then they'll fall in love, but Renee will get called back to Miami...and then what will happen!?I'm curious as to why Gold Circle Films tapped a Danish writer/director for a movie about a woman in Miami and Minnesota. (Or rather, Miami and Winnipeg, as that's where they'll shoot this coming January. Winnipeg in winter... Lucky Renee and Harry!) Variety says that Elmer's last comedy, Nynne, was considered the Danish Bridget Jones, but that's still a jump from Bridget Jones-like movie to Renee to American mid-west romcom. This is especially surprising since Cox is a director as well. Granted, his films haven't been that big (and his latest stars Tori Spelling), but still. It'll be interesting to see how a Dane tackles this whole thing.
Ashley Judd's 'Bug' Has New Trailer

Ah, there is nothing in the world like a nice, close-up poster of a naked, hairy man's chest sliced up a little bit with embossed lettering. That alone is enough to make me curious about Bug, Ashley Judd's latest film. Last September, Jette reviewed it from Fantastic Fest. To recap -- it's a juicy piece of suspense, even if some parts fell flat and others evoked laughter without meaning to. Then in November, Lionsgate pushed back the release date to some time in 2007. The date has now been set -- May 25 -- and we've got a new, full-length trailer to see what all the buggy fuss is about.Having Harry Connick Jr. in a creepy thriller is intriguing. Ashley Judd, well, it isn't surprising, but isn't bad either. Then to have Petie in a headlining role -- that's just tasty! Or, so I'd think. This is where I get confused. Check the trailer out. How much can we expect from a thriller when we have one of those "Larger. Than. Life. Disembodied. Voices." saying "They live in your blood" and "They feed on your brain"? Watching the trailer, all I can think of is that bit from My Date with Drew where they get the voice-over guy, George DelHoyo, involved. Coming from the director of The Exorcist, William Friedkin, I'd expect a trailer that pushes the buttons of anxiety and creepiness. Not one that keeps making me giggle. If you turn off the sound, it looks all sorts of creepy. However, if you're ready for a laugh, crank that sucker up and delight in the blood and brains.
