'X-Men 4?' Probably Not.

Shawn Ashmore gave an exclusive interview to ShockTillYouDrop.com, who inevitably asked him if he would ever reprise his role of Iceman in a fourth X-Men installment.

If there is to be a fourth, Ashmore hasn't heard anything about it. "Honestly, I don't know. I would love to do another film, but I think they're doing these spin-offs and origin stories, so I can't see in the near future there being an X-Men 4, but I have no idea to tell you the truth, it's really hard to say. I'm holding my breath, waiting for it to happen, but I'm not sure if it will or not."

The third installment gave him the chance to finally engage in a mutant battle, and he's dying to do more after so much build up. "I was waiting to do some of that stuff since the first movie. It was five years, six years in the making to really shoot ice and be in a battle and all that stuff."

The Hughes Brothers To Direct 'Iceman' Biopic

If you're as addicted to those mini courtroom drama/mystery docs on channels like A&E, Court TV and MSNBC as I am, then you most likely caught the one-hour special on Richard "Ice Man" Kuklinkski. For awhile, he was a contract killer working with the Gambino crime family and, by his own account, did away with as many as 200 people. If you managed to catch the TV special, you immediately know why they call this guy Ice Man; he's cold, calculated and could care less about any of the lives he took. To make matters worse, the man kept his job a secret from his wife and three children. (Right now, some therapist is making a lot of money off those poor kids.)

Producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Jason Blum have picked up the rights to Philip Carlo's book The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer, for brothers Allen and Albert Hughes (From Hell) to direct. Prior to his death in prison (while serving two life sentences), Kuklinski openly talked about his murders to folks like Carlo and his book is primarily based on those conversations. Currently, both producers are searching for a writer and, though they have first-look deals with Paramount, they are waiting to fully package the pic before setting it up at a studio. It will be interesting to see how everyone involved goes about tackling this story -- I mean, do they expect us to feel sympathy for their main character? I imagine they will work the whole FBI angle into it, and also focus on those who finally caught up with Kuklinsky. If not, get ready for one heck of a downer, folks -- this guy is (or should I say, was) one rotten dude.

X-Men 4 -- Whose Side are YOU on?

This whole "will there be a fourth X-Men movie" is turning into a game. Someone really should collect all the quotes coming from everyone involved and stack them up against each other just to see who contradicts who. It can be like Civil War ... "whose side are you on?" A handful of prominent X-actors, including Patrick Stewart, are fully convinced another sequel will happen. Recent talk by Marvel bigwigs would seem to give weight to their argument, although nothing resembling a real plan has been discussed. A larger handful of prominent X-actors are fully convinced the series is finished, and talk from director Brett Ratner seems to give weight to the argument. And now, another mutant actor shares his thoughts on sequel possibilities.

So, Iceman, whose side are you on? Shawn Ashmore, the man who is Iceman, says "there are rumors about an X-Men 4 but as far as I've been told X3 was going to be the last big ensemble X-Men movie. I would love if they made another one, but I'm not sure that they will." He is under contract for another film, though, just in case. Ashmore also addressed the "new mutants" rumors, saying he's heard of the idea, but only from the internet. As far as he knows, nobody official or important has talked about it.

If this franchise dies down, and the Spider-Man franchise finishes up after a third film, what do you suppose is the future of Marvel movies? They are gearing up for a big Avengers flick, but can they continue to carry box office momentum until 2009 or 2010 without their big bread winners?

Iceman Gets Some Action

Well X-Fans, it seems that Rogue's suave boyfriend is cheating on her with a new member of the team. That's right, Gambit has...oh wait. I'm sorry, we're talking about the movies, not the comic books. Let's try again. Everyone's favorite original X-Man, Bobby Drake (aka Iceman)...dang it...we're still talking about the movies. Yeah. Okay...everyones favorite second gen X-Man is getting some sweet extra-curricular action in the latest bootleg X3 image to reach the internet. Over on the X-Men Films forum you can dig a spoiler-iffic shot of Bobby and what seems to be Kitty ( I've already misidentified her in an image this week, but the fans on the forum are backing me up on this one) sharing a rather intimate moment over the privacy of an ice covered fountain.  Wonder how that happened...

In related news, every mutant in the known world seems to be in this final flick...except the ragin' Cajun, Remy Lebeau. That's Gambit, for you casual fans - the guy who is actually Rogue's man. Seriously, how does Leech make it in the movie and Gambit doesn't?
