Variety reports that Paul Bettany's Legion has just added a whole crowd of actors, including the star power of Dennis Quaid, Kate Walsh, and Tyrese Gibson. They will be headlining a cast that includes Jon Tenney, Charles S. Dutton, Lucas Black, Adrianne Palicki, Kevin Durand and Willa Holland. They've signed on just in time, as the movie is about to start shooting in New Mexico.

Legion is a thriller that stars Bettany as the archangel Michael, who is all that stands between mankind and an apocalypse after God has lost faith in humanity. But the Almighty apparently hasn't lost all hope -- a child is on the way who is the second coming of Christ, and a group of strangers who recognize the fact must band together to save it. It is director Scott Stewart's first feature film, from a script he co-wrote with Peter Schink.

I am quite intrigued by the movie, as I am a sucker for any kind of Biblical thriller. The problem is that they are almost always terrible. (Though I will always give props to The Prophecy for proving that the Devil does, in fact, wear a mullet.) The combination of Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid gives me some hope though, since they generally pick good scripts. We'll see if this is one of them.

So this weekend I went to my parents' house and decided to watch the SAG awards with my 2-year-old son, Harrison, my stepdad, Bruce and my Mom. A little background: My son has been sick all week and now I am sick and all I wanted to do was go to bed and ask my mom to put Harrison to sleep for me. However, I came to watch the SAG awards, and watch the SAG awards I did. But I'm not that excited about it, especially after last week's Golden Globes. I couldn't help but wonder why this was so important to me. I mean -- yes, fashion is my life -- but why is it that I don't even care who wins any of these awards? I just want to see what they are wearing.

Not to mention I spent all weekend isolated in Orange County with my parents and my little boy just sick and in a bubble. I forgot all about the competitive world of clothes while losing myself in family and Disney movies. All that said ... this is what I have to say about the SAG awards ... WOW! How much fun was it to watch these women in their dresses? I was hard pressed to find a least favorite. But I am committed to popping a judgmental eye into my head like a dirty old microscope and seeing what I can dig up. So don't fret my fellow droogies, I will throw someone under the bus before my jjjittery cold-medicine-filled fingers stop typing, and hopefully will give a few of you (or at the very least PRsucks) something else to be pissed off about.

Odds and ends from Wednesday:

• I bet if Stephen King wrote a five-word poem about his thumb, some studio would find a way to turn said poem into a film. That's how good this guy is. According to Variety, Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy) has signed on to star alongside John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson in the latest King adaptation, 1408. Based on the horror writer's short story, pic will follow a debunker of paranormal occurrences (Cusack) who finds himself wrapped up in some real heavy sh*t upon checking into mysterious room 1408 at the Dolphin Hotel. Walsh will play Cusack's ex-wife in the film, which will be directed by Mikael Hafstrom.
• Focus Features is attempting to spend an evening with three very lovely ladies. Vanessa Redgrave, Claire Danes and Toni Collette are currently in negotiations to star in Evening, based on the bestselling novel by Susan Minot. Story surrounds a cancer patient and a weekend she spends with her two daughters reminiscing about her past, while the girls struggle to accept their mother's impending death. In an interesting move, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Cunningham (The Hours) will adapt Minot's novel for the screen.
• Instead of guessing what the audience wants from its moviegoing experience, the MPAA wants to reach out and ask via an online survey. With topics ranging from theater attendance, piracy, advertisements, piracy, home video rental and piracy, MPAA Chief Dan Glickman says their goal here is to provide the studios with "consistent, focused consumer intelligence." Oh, and they also want to know where you bought that bootleg copy of Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest. So, yeah -- fess up!
