Watch: Famous 'Matrix' Scene Re-Created with LEGOs

It's the day before a major holiday, and all you want to do is surf around looking for things to occupy your time before the boss finally lets you leave a drop early. Am I right? Well here's a little treat that will take up all of about a minute and a half of your time. Pieced together to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Matrix, a group of freaks with 440 extra hours on their hands decided to recreate the famous "Trinity Help" sequence using LEGOs. This is the scene where Neo manages to dodge some agent bullets in super slow-mo before Trinity finally shows up to help her man squeeze out of a tough spot.

And yes, I wasn't joking -- it really did take a whopping 440 hours to put this together. The folks behind it even created a website dedicated solely to this project. In it, they describe the making-of process and include a side-by-side video comparison featuring both the real scene and the LEGO version (we included both after the jump). From their description:

Just in time for its 10th year anniversary, "Trinity Help" is a frame-accurate stop-frame animation of the famous bullet-dodge scene from the 1999 movie The Matrix, all done in Lego. By "frame accurate" we mean that we took all of the video frames from that part of the movie (that's nearly 900 frames for just 44 seconds of footage) and reproduced them all in Lego.

Early in the piece we decided we wanted to do everything "in camera". No wire-removal, no special effects, no crazy Photoshop tricks. We pretty much regret this now, but I guess it gives us bragging rights of some sort. We did do some colour correction and image stabilising, and at one point we edited a very small number of frames in one scene so that some minor background shake was taken out, but that's it.

Watch the video(s) after the jump.

Fan Made: 20 Films Recreated in LEGO

Filed under: Fandom », Images »

The original title of the post over on The Toy Zone is '20 Classic Films Recreated in LEGO', but when you have stuff like Serenity, The Ring, The Life Aquatic and Men in Black -- well, do we really consider those to be classic films? I sure don't, but that doesn't mean they're bad movies ... just not classics. Casablanca, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey ... I give you those. But the rest? Eh. Nevertheless, they have up scenes from 20 "popular" films recreated in LEGO and some of them are pretty damn cool -- like the one above which recreates one of the opening scenes from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

We snagged a few of our favorites for the gallery below, so check them out and let us know which ones you like the best. Personally, for me it's a tie between Star Wars, Alien, Casablanca and The Ring (I never thought a LEGO image would creep me out, but there you have it -- creepy indeed). Enjoy.

Check Out the Sneak Peek for LEGO Batman!

As much as I enjoy Star Wars, I was never a big enough fan to buy fan goodies, until the LEGO game came out. Then, well, I spent hours making things out of LEGO pieces and trying to use the force to lift and arrange things. It was awesome to not only have the iconic characters to mess around with, but also to explore the environment of the movie. Now we've got Indiana Jones, but there's another big summer movie that is getting its shot in the LEGOverse -- that sweet, dark knight known as Batman.

Entertainment Weekly has posted an awesome new teaser video for the game, which showcases Poison Ivy fooling with Mother Nature, and Bruce Wayne laying the smackdown with his suitcase. If you love the movies, or the source material, you really should check it out. The best thing -- there's a character for everyone. This game showcases peeps like Batman, Robin, and Commissioner Gordon, as well as The Joker, Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Harley Quinn, The Scarecrow...

I see a whole lot of time wasting in my future. How about you?

Lego My Star Wars

Ah, to be a kid again. Now that I'm pushing towards a milestone age (I won't say which) I sometimes get nostalgic for the "good old days" when my toys were far simpler -- and much less expensive. One toy that I always enjoyed as a kid was my enormous bunch of Legos. These things were great and I had many adventures with my Legos long into the night after fashioning them into various configurations like moon bases, vehicles and many different kinds of space ships -- including a rather impressive (IMHO) rendition of the Millennium Falcon -- complete with yellow-faced Han Solo and a certain fledgling Jedi.

This was all during a time before the good folks at Lego decided they wanted to make sets specifically from various movies like Star Wars and their other themed packs based on Bionicle, Exoforce and Batman. I loved my Legos and to this day, still think they are one of the greatest toys ever invented. So, what's got me nostalgic for those "good old days" today? Well, Lego recently announced, according to an article over at IGN, some new sets of their Battle Packs based on the Star Wars universe.

Some of these packs feature characters and vehicles from Star Wars: Episode III, including Droids and Clone Troopers, and will be available for $9.99 each. Such a small price to pay for so much fun. Sure, they're simple and maybe even a little on the lame side given the high-tech state of kid's toys today. But sometimes, simpler is better and I often do wish for the days when the simple things were all I needed. Oh well, even if I don't play with Legos anymore, I guess I'll console myself by playing a little Call of Duty 3 on my XBox 360. That's a pretty cool toy too.

Star Wars Figures and Batman Legos

Are you a child of the '70s or '80s? Okay, then be honest with me now (part 1) ... how many Star Wars action figures do you own? Come on, you know you've got em, unless you were one of those losers whose mom gave away all their stuff. Now dig out the old plastic containers and start counting. Does it number in triple digits? I know it does for at least a few of you out there. And I'll bet (for you '70s and '80s kids), nearly all of them are from the classic trilogy. If you are reading this and thinking, "oh no, I only have the cereal box Han Solo in Stormtrooper costume and a broken C3PO, I feel so inadequate," you've now got (yet another) chance to shore up your collection. Hasbro, like they have done before, will be releasing a new round of action figures to accompany the re-release of the classic trilogy. It'll come in the form of collector's triple packs, and you can catch a peek at some here.

Right-o, kids, time for be honest with me now (part two) for you aging generations ... how many Legos do you own? Those suckers used to be everywhere, remember? Again, plastic boxes just full of the suckers exist in the backs of our closets. While Legos might not be as popular as they once were, they do still exist, and they really enjoy a good movie tie-in. Today's nifty Lego collection is an 860 piece set of the Arkham Asylum, which you can view here. Doesn't Batman look great in Lego?
