A few months ago, Kristin Kreuk was said to be Chun-Li in the upcoming Street Fighter film. Variety has now confirmed it and listed off some of the rest of the cast, and you might be just a little surprised. Aside from the Smallville star, there's Michael Clark Duncan, Chris Klein, and Rick Yune. Yes, I'm talking about the Klein from Election and American Pie. Surprised? Filling out the rest of the cast is Moon Bloodgood, Taboo from Black Eyed Peas, Edmund Chen, and Cheng Pei Pei.

While Kreuk plays Chun-Li, Duncan will take on the role of Balrog, Yune, is the mystical Gen, and Klein will be Nash. As it breaks down in the game... Balrog* is M. Bison in Japan, and Vega outside. Since we're talking Duncan, that means M. Bison/Balrog -- a dude who holds a lot of similarities to a certain ear-biter. (This re-naming is ridiculous...) Gen, meanwhile, is an old, master assassin and friend of Chun-Li's father, who blames himself for the violent path the girl followed. And lastly, Klein's Nash -- also known as Charlie. This guy is a first lieutenant in the US Air Force who died in earlier games, but shows up in later ones, and is a friend of Guile.

I guess if Ryan Reynolds can take on Blade, anything is possible. But every time I try to think of Klein in this role, I hear him in his do-gooder voice saying: "Dear God, thank you for all your blessings. You've given me so many things, like good health, nice parents, a nice truck, and what I'm told is a large penis, and I'm very grateful, but I sure am worried about Tammy." And we can't forget -- Klein headed Rollerball.

*Post Edited: Variety says Bison, the villain, is still being cast, presumably that's this Bison/Vega. Stay tuned for more name confusion!

Usually the only connection I make with Pink Floyd and kid's movies is images of black light posters and timing The Wizard of Oz just right. This time, it looks like the connection is going to be a little more conventional.

ComingSoon.net reported that Roger Waters, of Pink Floyd fame was writing an original song titled Hello, I Love You for The Last Mimzy. The film is a family -friendly sci-fi story about a box of toys sent from the future that take on a life of their own, with varying results; and stars Joely Richardson, Timothy Hutton, Michael Clark Duncan, and Rainn Wilson. Getting Waters to contribute a song to the film was quite an achievement, as this is only the second time Waters has recorded an original song for a film. Waters worked with both the director Bob Shaye and Award-winning composer Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings trilogy) on the song, which will be used in the film and played over the end credits. Waters seems happy with the finished product, saying, "I think together we've come up with a song that captures the themes of the movie, the clash between humanity's best and worst instincts, and how a child's innocence can win the day". Family movies are a tough sell for me at the best of times, so I'll probably just stick to watching Munchkins dancing to Money.

We reported a few months ago on Anthony Hopkins' painfully personal, ambitious-sounding Slipstream, which he wrote, stars in, directs, and also composed the music for. The movie, which is being made with a small-ish indie budget, is a noir-comedy "about a man, who's caught in a slipstream of time falling back on itself and he remembers his own future," and stems from Hopkins' own "wild thoughts about God, life and death." Hey, I said it was personal.

Already in the ensemble cast with Hopkins are Gena Rowlands and superstar thespian Christian Slater, and that duo has recently been joined by a massive flood of actors, all of whom are apparently eager to work on the weirdest-sounding (apart, maybe, from The Science of Sleep) project of the last year or so. According to today's Hollywood Reporter, all of the following are now caught (ah ha ha) in Slipstream: John Turturro, Camryn Manheim, Jeffrey Tambor, S. Epatha Merkerson, Fionnula Flanagan, Christopher Lawford and Michael Clark Duncan. Whew.

Production began this week in LA; no word yet on a possible release date.
