Right Now on TV Squad
Our brothers and sisters over at TV Squad have busted through the boob tube and brought with them the following juicy bits of must-see eye candy.- Alas, Firefly is gone for good, but actor Alan Tudyk, who played Wash on the late sci fi series, can be seen in the upcoming revamped version of The Rockford Files.
- Speaking of Firefly, the show is getting a new comic book incarnation written by, of all people, comedian Patton Oswalt.
- I prefer to live in a spoiler-free zone but I realize not everyone feels the same. Those who want to know what's coming should check out Spoiler's Anonymous, to see what's happening on Castle, Lost, Dexter and a few others.
- Conan O'Brien is legally prohibited from being on TV for awhile, so he's taking his brand of funny on the road. Check out some of the details here.
- Facebook users have spoken and Betty White will indeed be hosting Saturday Night Live for a Mother's Day themed episode on May 8, where she will be joined by several former cast members who are also mothers.
- ...and finally, Kerri Russell has signed on for the pilot episode and potential series Wilde Kingdom which stars Will Arnett.

3. Shutter Island: $13.2 million
4. Cop Out: $9.2 million
5. Avatar: $8.1 million
We've got a whopping four new releases this week:

Why It Might Do Well: Matt Damon stars, United 93's Paul Greengrass is directing and the film is getting a 71% Fresh rating over at Rottentomatoes.com.

Our Family WeddingWhat's It All About: When a young couple announces their plans to wed, their respective fathers (Forest Whitaker and Carlos Mencia) immediately lock horns.
Why It Might Do Well: America Ferrera stars as the bride and despite Ugly Betty's recent cancellation I always liked her.
Why It Might Not Do Well: WIth or without the ethnic spin, the "families-butt-heads-before-the-wedding" story has been done to death. Also, I so can't stand Carlos Mencia.
Number of Theaters: 1,500
Prediction: $6 million
We May Still Get One More John Hughes Movie
Last night's Oscar tribute to writer, producer, director John Hughes who passed away last August was moving (that song "Don't You Forget About Me" always takes me back) and it was pretty cool to see so many stars of his films in one place (watch it after the jump). Speaking of which, is it just me or does Macaulay Culkin look like he has not changed at all since he was 10?According to The Hollywood Reporter, there may yet be at least one more movie in the Hughes filmography. Grisbys Go Broke is the title of an unproduced Hughes screenplay that is currently floating around Hollywood and it's the story of a wealthy Chicago family who lose everything and are forced to move to the sticks. This is one of many unproduced/unpublished pieces the writer's familly found after his passing.
Apparently word was spreading last Friday that Paramount was interested in the property and that they were considering having it produced by Joe Roth of Alice in Wonderland fame. Paramount has since stated that they are not looking to buy the screenplay. Whether it's just too early for them to say anything or they are genuinely not interested is hard to say. Paramount produced several of Hughes' movies including Pretty in Pink (a personal favorite), Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Some Kind of Wonderful, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Considering the number of hit movies Hughes was attached to I have to imagine some studio will be interested.
What do you think? Interested in one more John Hughes film, or should we leave it alone if he can't direct it himself?

- Smallville has been renewed for a tenth season. Can we expect to see Tom Welling finally don the famous red and blue tights?
- Neil Patrick Harris is one of the hardest working guys in show business, and now it's got him feeling blue. Specifically, he has signed on as voice talent for the upcoming Smurfs movie.
- Will & Grace star Deborah Messing is taking another stab at series television. Wright Vs. Wrong will be a sitcom featuring Messing as a conservative politician.
- ...and finally, Rob Lowe is leaving ABC for NBC. He is departing Brothers and Sisters and moving to sitcom territory by joining the cast of Parks and Recreation.
Right Now on TV Squad
Our brothers and sisters over at TV Squad have busted through the boob tube and brought with them the following juicy bits of must-see eye candy.- Arrested Development co-horts David Cross and Will Arnett will be working together again and costarring with director Spike Jonze in a TV series intriguingly titled The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.
- A&E has ordered 13 episodes of Surgarloaf, a dramatic series about a Chicago detective who is framed for something he didn't do so he moves to Florida to start over.

Right Now on TV Squad
Our brothers and sisters over at TV Squad have busted through the boob tube and brought with them the following juicy bits of must-see eye candy.- Tina Fey's Sarah Palin impression was one of the high points of Saturday Night Live's recent history, and Ms. Fey is getting ready to do it again.
- John Schneider is going to be playing a washed up golf pro attempting a comeback for his new Spike TV show Back Nine. Perhaps more interesting, though, is the potentially controversial name of his caddy.
- Think you can tell when a TV show is using chromakey to swap out backgrounds? Don't be so sure. Check out this fascinating video showing chromakey effects where you might not have expected them.
- Back in 2006 Steven Spielberg was preparing a 12 hour mini-series called Nine Lives for the (pre Syfy) Sci-Fi Channel. That show may finally see the light of day on NBC.
- There's another Lost character we haven't seen in awhile who will be showing up on the show soon. I don't want to give anything away, but if you're curious have a look here.
- ...and finally, check out what Edward James Olmos has to say about Battlestar Galactica's spin-off series Caprica and the proposed Galactica film.
Trailer Park: Kicking, Defending and Exploding
Filed under: Action », Drama », Trailer Trash »

Welcome to Trailer Park, where we catch you up on all the biggest trailers to hit during the week.
Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
Seems like we only just got the teaser trailer but now there's a full-length international preview for Oliver Stone's sequel to 1987's Wall Street. Michael Douglas is back as Gordon Gekko and Shia LaBeouf plays his future son-in-law with a taste for capitalism. As one might expect, this fleshes out the ideas presented in the teaser, making it look like a promising feature (with early Oscar potential?) indeed. This one hits on April 23.
Kick-Ass
Another trailer for Kick-Ass? This still looks pretty awesome but I'm starting to worry about over exposure. Nothing is worse than paying to see a film that showed all the best parts in the advertising. This red band trailer isn't quite as shocking as the last one, but Hit Girl still proves to be the most foul-mouthed little girl superhero in film history. The buttock pummeling begins on March 12.
Box Office: Shutter Island Arrives
Filed under: Drama », Thrillers », Box Office Predictions »
1. Valentine's Day: $66.86 million
2. Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief: $38.8 million
3. The Wolfman: $36.5 million
4. Avatar: $30 million
5. Dear John: $18.8 million
Just one new release this week.
Shutter IslandWhat's It All About: In 1954 two U.S. marshalls are summoned to an island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the disappearance of a murderess from an asylum for the criminally insane.
Why It Might Do Well: Martin Scorsese is behind the camera, hopefully bringing some of the magic of The Departed, Goodfellas or any of a number of great films he has made. Leonardo DiCaprio stars, the trailer suggests a pretty tantalizing psychological thriller, and Rottentomatoes.com is giving it 84%. You will also note that there are no other films going into wide release this week.
Why It Might Not Do Well: A nationwide snow storm perhaps? No, I think this one will do quite nicely for itself.
Number of Theaters: 2,500
Prediction: $46 million
