'The Time Traveler's Wife' Finally Gets a Trailer

The Time Traveler's Wife is one of those sad cases that has gone from "eagerly anticipated" to "when's that coming out?" to vanishing off most people's radar, which is dangerous considering it comes out this August. Hopefully, the trailer can awaken interest again, although it may be of the "Oh my God, they ruined the story!" kind.
The trailer is up on Yahoo! Movies in high definition, but I've put an embed below the jump to make things easier for you. I haven't read the book (I know, I know. My to-read list is endless, believe me), but I was under the impression it was a lot more heart wrenching and serious, whereas this looks rather lighthearted for a separated-by-time romance. I was hoping for a tear-jerker on the level of The Fountain, where separation is truly terrifying and horrendous, and not just a minor inconvenience for the holidays.
Now, I know there's some major fans of Audrey Niffenegger's book out there, and I'm eager to hear some knowledgable analysis in the comments. Even if this isn't the kind of love story that will tear out my heart and leave me emotionally battered, at least I know there will be Eric Bana to enjoy. He does cut a dashingly dissolved figure!

Watchmen's Screenwriter Pens 'Battling Boy' for Brad Pitt's Plan B

Back in November, Brad Pitt and Paramount fell hard for Paul Pope's Battling Boy, which they snapped up before it had even hit store shelves. The book isn't due to be published until 2010, but according to The Hollywood Reporter the film adaptation already has a screenwriter: Alex Tse, who is fresh off Watchmen and busy penning scripts for Ninja Scroll and Zack Snyder's adaptation of The Illustrated Man. Battling Boy centers on the wee offspring of a god, whose dad urges him to leave their immortal mountaintop home and descend to Monstropolis, and rid the city of its plague of monsters. Considering the city is the size of a continent, this might take him awhile. The monsters aren't your cute and cuddly Monsters Vs Aliens type either, but according to Pope are "horrible, Grimm's fairytale, Beowulf-ish monsters, awful things. Child-stealers. Plus some of the vampires and mummies and wolfmen we remember from the old black and white Hollywood horror films." If you'd like another glimpse at the book, Pope did celebrate Battling Boy getting optioned by publishing some additional artwork on his blog.
There's not much more to go on, and no indication as to whether Pitt might take the role of Senior Deity, so we'll have to sit tight and wait for the book. Clearly though, Pitt and Paramount have been studying their comic book movies -- if Tse can adapt Watchmen, he can probably do a fair job at adapting anything graphic novel you throw at him.
Brangelina Options International Prom Article?

This past Sunday, The New York Times featured a popular City-section story about the first-ever prom held for students of Brooklyn's International High School. In case you don't like to read, you can simply watch the video accompaniment here. And if you don't like to read and you don't like documentary-style videos, and have a lot of patience, you can wait for the feature film, which will apparently be hitting theaters some time in the future. According to New York magazine's Vulture blog, a number of producers are interested in optioning the article, while Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have personally brought it to the attention of Paramount Pictures, where Pitt's Plan B Entertainment has a first-look deal. Supposedly an unnamed non-Paramount studio exec beat us all to the punch by joking that "maybe Maddox and the twins can star in it." Of course, he forgot about Pax and Zahara (and the twins aren't really international).Actually, the first joke I thought about was the running gag on TV's The Critic about the kid from Easter Island who attends the United Nations School. Then, the second joke I thought of was about Brangelina's adopted children. Then I kept thinking of other things, such as how thanks to Prom Night people might assume this other prom-themed movie is also a horror flick. But that's not so much a joke as it is me trying to think on a studio exec's level (hey, we were synchronous with the Maddox bit) in order to contemplate what they'd call the thing. International Prom? A Prom for All Nations (ala the video's title)? Or will Hollywood appropriately go for one of those song-based titles? Been around the World, perhaps?
