Exclusive 'G.I. Joe' Character Poster - Ripcord

Cinematical has received this exclusive character poster for the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe movie, which is one of several debuting online today. Recent rumors suggested the film wasn't testing well and the studio wasn't all too happy with the final product, but we've been told otherwise and, in fact, people are really diggin' G.I. Joe so far. And I hope so, because I really want this film to be kick ass. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who grew up playing with the G.I. Joe action figures, making them square off against Star Wars figures only to have someone like Snake Eyes come down and kick the crap out of Luke Skywalker. (Hey, when it comes to action figures, that's just how I rolled back in the day.)
And hey, who can beat a cast that features Dennis Quaid, Sienna Miller, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Channing Tatum, Rachel Nichols, Christopher Eccleston and Marlon Wayans (among others)? I like to think of The Wayans family as the Osmonds of comedy (no seriously, hear me out). They might not be for everyone, but there must be someone out there who enjoys what they do because they keep making movies, and people keep going to see them. If you don't believe me, then tell me how else would Marlon Wayans have managed to get Dance Flick into theaters this May? But this Wayans has been branching out lately, beyond his usual 'low-brow' comedies, and his next flick (according to The Hollywood Reporter) will see him working double duty to produce and star in the feature film version of The Year of Living Biblically: One Man's Humble Quest to follow the Bible as Literally as Possible by A. J. Jacobs.If you grew up in even a vaguely Christian family (personally I come from a religion so laid back it won't even commit to the concept of a virgin birth), you are probably familiar with the usual rules of 'thou shalt not steal, kill, covet' -- you know, the biggies. But Jacob's book centers on his attempt to follow all the rules and guidelines he could find in the Bible -- which, as it turns out it, is much more complicated that those Ten Commandments would have you believe.
Julian Farino (Entourage) is already slated to direct Jay Reiss' script, and even though Jacob's book has the makings of a great film, the big question still remains: Will it be great in the hands of the man who made White Chicks?
New 'G.I. Joe' Character Posters

It's only the middle of December, and already I feel like Summer 2009 is just around the corner. It feels like I was bombarded with Terminator: Salvation and X-Men Origin: Wolverine all weekend, and now G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra is coming back into the mix of things with a few new character posters. They're not entirely new, as they first appeared over the summer at a licensing fair, but have been scanned online for the first time thanks to Film.ru. There's four in all -- Duke, Snake Eyes, Baroness, and Ripcord, and all four have been added to the GI Joe gallery below. Unfortunately, they haven't appeared in a big, hi-res version yet.
Paramount might want to reconsider the design since they look just like the Star Trek character posters. You can't have people wandering into Trek, and wondering where the heck Snake Eyes is. G.I. Joe is the All American Hero! Make these screamingly obvious -- red, white, and blue all the way! At least throw in the camoflauge I remember (and probably wrongly) from the packaging. None of this classiness and silver font -- that has to be left for Mission: Impossible installments.
