There are always a couple of titles that get pushed at Comic-Con, only to have those first impressions fade from memory as their opening gets shoved further and further back. Case in point: Whiteout, which showed up at San Diego in 2007, only to find itself a home next month -- over two years after.

Now, if Box Office Mojo is to be believed (and they're pretty reliable), Seth Rogen and Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet will now debut over a year after making a modest presentation at this past Comic-Con, having been bumped back from next July to the following December for reasons unknown.

Sure, it could be more time for effects work (the alibi given for 2012's similar shift this year), or maybe Sony didn't relish the chance to open a crime-fighting action-comedy opposite a Predator(s) reboot and a mere week before the already anticipated Inception. At any rate (or date, rather), let's just hope that it doesn't turn out to be nearly as goofy and stylized as last winter's The Spirit first revealed itself to be at -- you guessed it -- Comic-Con.

I was drawn into this whole story by the thought of Tina Fey, but be still my comedic heart, she's not the only one involved. As Jessica posted earlier this month, Ricky Gervais has a blog for his upcoming comedy, This Side of the Truth, and he's just announced the final casting. He writes in an entry: "We are trying to avoid the 'Hollywood actor look'. No botox, perma-tans, or unfeasibly white teeth..."

Who could that mean for casting? Well, there's a short little blip that says Tina Fey and Christopher Guest have signed on, along with Jeffrey Tambor and John Hodgman (The Daily Show). This flick sounded good, but now it's downright irresistible! While I would rather have Guest do more mockuwonders, I won't pass up the chance to see him reunite with Gervais, with a helping of Fey, Tambor, and Hodgman. And, we can't forget the already-cast players -- Louis CK, Rob Lowe, Jonah Hill, and Jennifer Garner.

Just the thought of these actors taking on Gervais's deceit-creating character... Are there any of you out there who are not itching to see this now?

Ricky Gervais may be the only person who can lie and get away with it. Well, maybe not in real life, but in his new film The Other Side of the Truth he is sole proprietor of fibbing. Gervais, who's starring role in the BBC comedy The Office won him fans worldwide, will not only headline the film but also make his feature directorial debut. The Other Side of the Truth is a comedy written by Gervais and Matt Robinson that tells of a world where lying is unattainable ... that is, until Gervais comes along. He soon becomes the first person to ever tell a lie and "harnesses its power for personal gain," so says Variety. Hard to imagine, but if anyone can pull it off, it's Gervais.

Gervais' voice and delivery is one that I can always hear in my head. Even while reading the description of the film I couldn't help but laugh. I love how he describes his character in this film as being "in the film industry, where actors are really readers who tell completely factual stories. My character's a loser who's about to lose his job, and who's lumbering through the 1300s. All he's got to work with is the Black Death. But once he lies and pretends he's found lost stories, he becomes the greatest storyteller in the world." Nice. The Other Side of the Truth is being produced by Lynda Obst and Oly Obst who gave us How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and (most importantly) Flashdance. The film begins production in the Spring of next year.
