Paris Hilton Alleged to Be Movie Star

Paris Hilton in court

Would you pay one million dollars for this woman? Paris Hilton was paid $1 million to star in Pledge This!, an otherwise low-budget ($8 million) production that, not surprisingly, was a box office flop. An investor claims "she broke her contract because she failed to promote the film on talk shows and in media interviews," according to the Telegraph UK. Hilton is facing an $8.1 million lawsuit in a Florida district court, which we first reported on last year.

Dressed for court in a black dress and "six-inch stilettos," Hilton waved at the judge before giving evidence. "I've never had a witness wave at me before," the judge said. (Oh, Paris, you're such a trendsetter!) She testified: "If I have my name attached to something, I want it to be as big as it can be." (You're free to make up your own jokes about that one.) She says that she did promote the film for two years before it was released, but when she was called upon again to promote the DVD release, she was too busy with "rehearsals" for her comedy classic, The Hottie & The Nottie. She was asked it that was a better movie than Pledge This! and "with a giggle" replied: "It was really good."

Pledge This! is alleged in court to have made $2.9 million. The allegedly "really good" The Hottie & The Nottie made $27,696 domestically and another $1.5 million worldwide. So maybe the Pledge This! investors should be grateful that Paris didn't promote the movie any more than she did.

Razzie Awards Honor The Worst of the Year

Filed under: Awards », Fandom »

While Oscar was planning to hand out golden statues to the best films of the year, the 29th Annual Golden Rasberry (Razzie) Awards were being handed out to the year's worst. The big winner (or loser) this year was The Love Guru, which not only took home Worst Picture, but Worst Actor (for Mike Myers) and Worst Screenplay (Mike Myers and Graham Gordy). The Hottie and The Nottie nabbed two Razzies, with star Paris Hilton taking home honors in the Worst Actress category (for Hottie and the Nottie), as well as Worst Supporting Actress (in Repo: The Genetic Opera). Ms. Hilton also shared the spotlight with Christine Lakin or Joel David Moore for Worst Screen Couple.

Indiana Jones' return to the big screen garnered a whole bunch of negative reactions, and the film did little to impress the Razzie voters since Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull won the award for Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel. Wow, there's a lot of room in that sucker ... and it went to Indy? Let's just say Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jessica Alba both got away with one there. Rounding things out, Uwe Boll won for Worst Director and Worst Career Achievement, with the tagline "Germany's Answer to Ed Wood".

Check out the entire list over here, then let us know what you think they got right or wrong. Was The Love Guru really the worst picture of the year? Did Indy deserve worst sequel/remake/prequel status?

First Trailer for Paris Hilton's 'The Hottie & the Nottie'

Filed under: Comedy », Fandom », Movie Marketing », Trailers and Clips »

You never forget your first love ... except when she's Paris Hilton. Yes, the trailer you've all been waiting for has finally arrived online -- Paris Hilton's new romantic comedy, The Hottie & the Nottie. And you know what, if Paris Hilton was a nobody -- a random actress plucked from obscurity -- then I'd say they found the perfect girl to play the "hottie." Hilton looks pretty damn good in this trailer; definitely the kind of girl you'd imagine a guy falling for at a very young age. But then she opens her mouth ... and you want to stick a gun into yours.

Joel Moore (who I happen to kind of like some) plays this dude named Nate who, as a guy in his early twenties (I imagine), winds up running into Cristabelle (Hilton), the girl he's been in love with since the first grade. Nate really wants to "get with" Cristabelle, except there's one problem: She refuses to date anyone until her best friend, June (Christine Lakin), finds a man of her own. And June, well ... let's just say the leftover creature makeup from Alien vs. Predator was put to good use. This girl is horrific to look at, in a very loony-tune sort of way. So now Nate has one giant obstacle in front of him: Find June a guy, and he gets Cristabelle. Of course Nate has the wacky best friend who gives him tons of bad advice, and the trailer doesn't allow Hilton to say too much -- they just parade her around in one tight outfit after another. The film arrives in theaters on February 8, just in time for Valentine's Day. God bless you if you buy a ticket for it. And check out the trailer above, or over on the film's official website.

Great News: Paris Hilton's Next Film Gets a Release Date!

Could Paris Hilton become the next major movie star? Stranger things have happened (give me a few hours to come up with one), and the girl already has two flicks arriving in theaters next year -- both of which are extremely opposite of one another. The Hollywood Reporter tells us Regent Releasing has picked up all North American rights on Hilton's romantic comedy The Hottie or the Nottie with plans to throw it into theaters on February 8 ... right before Valentine's Day. Yay! Because there's nothing I prefer more than seeing a Paris Hilton flick and then taking my significant other out for a splendid dinner.

In case you're at all wondering about The Hottie and the Nottie, the film follows a guy (Joel David Moore) who's been in love (or, as HR puts it, "obsessed") with the same girl (Hilton) since first grade. But in order to win her love or a date or a cheap one night stand, our hero must find a date for the hottie's not-so-hot best friend (as played by Christine Lakin -- who, funnily enough, is hotter than Hilton in real life). I'm not sure where this wild flick is going to go from there, but I'm sure we're in for plenty of hilarity and bad acting on Hilton's part. I can imagine director Tim Putnam now, giving cues to Hilton: "Okay, so just look hot. Don't act, simply read the lines ... and be hot." Movie magic at its finest, folks.
