Bond girl rumor #899 - Michelle Yeoh doesn't know what "prequel" means

Bond Girl Rumor #456: The chick from Species?
Filed under: Casting », Sony », James Bond », Remakes and Sequels »
You know what this whole "whose gonna be the next Bond Girl" runaround feels like to me? It's like when
Beverly Hills, 90210 kept going into its tenth season – long after the departures of Jason Priestley,
and Shannon Doherty, and the actors who played the parents, and the broad from Saved by the Bell they had
hired after Shannon Doherty left (yes, all of that happened, and yes, the episodes are currently on SoapNET, if you
need impirical proof.) But just in case you're still paying attention, it's my duty to inform you that the producers of Casino Royale have narrowed the supporting actress competition down to four candidates. Based on this Variety report, I'm not sure whether or not Rachael Stirling, sometime pretend lesbian and daughter of Diana Rigg, is actually one corner of the lucky quadrangle, as Martha previously reported. But another quasi-familiar name is floating around: Natasha Henstridge, known to South Park fans as The Chick from Species. But isn't an actress whose standing could be described as C-list at best sort of an unlikely candidate for such a high profile role? Nah. The trade reiterates what we've been saying for ages: no one wants to play Vesper Lynd, because no one wants to slum it in a franchise film if they can't be the bottom-line star. Oh, and the old Halle Berry Curse probably doesn't help.
Bond girl casting rumor #56: Diana Rigg's kid
Filed under: Action », Drama », Casting », RumorMonger », James Bond », Remakes and Sequels »
In addition to being a dame (which I think means we have to avert our eyes when
she passes by), Emma
Peel, and TV Guide's "sexiest TV star ever", Diana
Rigg also holds the distinction of playing the only chick James Bond ever married in On
Her Majesty's Secret Service. Keeping that in mind, there's a certain pleasing logic to the fact that her
daughter Rachael Stirling is the latest name being associated with
the role of Vesper Lynd, Casino
Royale's Bond Girl. Stirling, whose lone starring role was in Tipping
The Velvet (which, not surprisingly, the kids at IMDB love - mmm...hot lesbians) for the BBC, has reportedly
screen tested opposite Daniel Craig for the part.Whether this latest report is true or not is anyone's guess, but the fact is that casting really is kicking into high gear: the film is scheduled to start shooting at the end of this month.
Angelina picks baby over Bond?

I can't believe I just typed that headline. US Weekly, here I come...When the tabloids started spreading the news that Angelina Jolie had turned down the role of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale, most of us assumed that Angie's decision was based on the fact that she's obviously too big of a star to play what essentially amounts to a girlfriend role. But British rag The Globe (via Perez Hilton) is reporting that Angie's starry eyes aren't nearly as big as her stomach – or, read: She's freakin' preggers! If the tabs are to be believed, she wanted the part, but had to turn it down because of its action requirements. Jolie is said to be at least four months along, and as the Mirror reports today, a spy on the set of her latest film, A Good Shepherd, says her costumes have already been altered to make room for the – no, I can't. I can't do it. Okay, I can – baby bump. Perez also has a paparazzi shot of Miss Jolie, which seems to provide irrefutable evidence that the Oscar winner is, in fact, incubating a baby Brad – or else, she got caught on camera after a really big lunch.
I'm going to go wash the grease off of my soul before Bonnie Fuller sniffs it out and offers me a job. One last thought: wouldn't you rather have a pregnant Bond girl than see Jessica Simpson do it?
Bond Girl Rumor #497: Naomi Watts
Filed under: Casting », RumorMonger », James Bond », Remakes and Sequels »
Blah blah blah Bond Girl. Blah blah blah Naomi
Watts. Blah blah blah blah blah blah...Oh, I'm sorry. You probably want me to actually pretend to care that another A- list actress has been named in association with the role of Vesper Lynde in Casino Royale. This time it's Naomi Watts, who is cowering from a few embarrassing quotes she spat out about what a big freakin' star she was about to become, right before King Kong opened to B business and she found that she was still able to roam the streets of New York and be recognized only as "that sallow blonde woman holding hands with Liev Schreiber." The rumor, reported by The Sun, is that Bond producers want Watts to do a screen test early in the new year, but that the actress is worried about taking the role for fear of being "typecast". I say, being typecast is exactly what Naomi Watts needs – at least then we might be able to pick her out of a lineup.

Bond girl rumor the next: Jessica Simpson?!
Filed under: Action », Casting », RumorMonger », Newsstand », James Bond », Charlize Theron », Games and Game Movies »
Just days after the debunking of the Charlize
Theron rumors, we now are hearing that the almost-divorced Jessica
Simpson may well be cast as Vesper Lynde in Casino
Royale. I know, it sounds outrageous - I totally agree. Not only can the girl not really act, but her vapid
persona also doesn't fit in very well with the most recent trend in Bond girls, most of whom are at least supposed to
be both tough and smart. Plus, Lynde's role in the story - and in Bond's life - is reported to be much more significant
than those played by the other chicks in his past (Or is it future? This prequel thing is confusing). And Simpson
doesn't exactly spring to mind when you're trying to think of an actress with emotional staying power (Hey, just ask Nick, right? I'll be here all week.)Regardless of what foolish fans want, however, there are supposedly a couple of at least somewhat informed sources for this story, so who knows - maybe Daisy Dukes will soon be showing up in England sooner than we think.
