Cinematical is stoked to bring you this exclusive new poster for In Search of a Midnight Kiss (click image to enlarge), which I've heard is just absolutely awesome. Seriously, my best friend caught this flick back when it first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007 and he hasn't stopped talking about it since. I swear, he's a nut -- completely and utterly in love with this film. And I think it's totally rad. Written and directed by the very cool and extremely talented Alex Holdridge, Midnight Kiss tells of Wilson, who, considering he'll be broke and alone on New Year's Eve, is convinced by his best friend to post a personal ad. Through that he meets Sara, who's hell bent on finding the right guy to be with at midnight.
We talk up a lot here on Cinematical, but I have such good vibes about this one. Watch it. Support it. Then watch it again. Oh, and here's the trailer. In Search of a Midnight Kiss hits theaters in limited release on August 1.

I first heard about this film from my friend Aaron, who, honestly, hasn't stopped talking about it for over a year. He caught a screening of it at last year's Tribeca Film Festival, and absolutely fell in love. Another friend of mine was at the same screening and he loved it. Lots of people are loving it. I'm dying to love it. Will you love it, too? Moviefone has debuted the trailer for In Search of a Midnight Kiss (watch above or over on Moviefone), directed by Alex Holdridge. The film, which was shot guerrilla-style in Los Angeles after something like a two-week prep period, tells of a man who's just suffered through one of the most miserable years of his life. When his friend convinces him to post a personal ad on Craigslist (in order to avoid being alone on New Year's Eve), a girl searching for the perfect midnight kiss answers. Thus begins an eventful night that neither one will ever forget.
I'm really diggin' this trailer; definitely one of my favorites of the year so far. Well edited, well scored -- looks like my cup of Friday spiked tea. You? In Search of a Midnight Kiss hits theaters on August 1.
IFC Nabs 'In Search of a Midnight Kiss'

Although I regretfully missed it when the film premiered last May at the Tribeca Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter tells us that IFC has picked up Alex Holdridge's In Search of a Midnight Kiss which they'll release through their IFC First Take day-and-date program at some point next year. The romantic comedy centers on Wilson (Scoot McNairy) who, after suffering through the worst year of his life, decides to put a personal ad on Craigslist and winds up spending New Years Eve with a girl (Sara Simmonds) searching for the right man to kiss at midnight.
I had seen Holdridge's 2003 film Sexless back when it was touring the festival circuit, and thought it had a lot of potential for an extremely low-budget flick. When I missed Midnight Kiss at Tribeca, my good friend Aaron, who helps manage the film division over at Gen Art, tortured me for weeks. He absolutely adores this film, and so when I asked him for a quote he replied with the following: "Midnight Kiss is both beautiful and raw at the same time. So rarely do you see a movie that flows from moments of hilarity to compassion, then back again without missing a beat. It's easy to see why; director Alex Holdridge and his close-knit crew of actors truly care about the story being told, and this one will stick with me for a long time..." This comes from a guy who's job it is to watch hundreds upon hundreds of indie films each year. If he digs it (and he most certainly does), then I'm sure you will too. Keep an eye out for this; In Search of a Midnight Kiss ... arriving in theaters and in your living room (on the same day!) next year.
