If Star Wars: The Clone Wars were a simple board game stacked up in a toy store aisle, the side of the box would read: "Ages 7 through Check Your Star Wars Ego at the Door." While the recent onslaught of superhero movies have brought us darker, more complex (and adult) storylines, one of our most beloved franchises has decided to travel in the opposite direction. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing; it's actually somewhat comforting to find a film with the word 'Wars' mentioned twice in the title alone and know that it's suitable for all ages. When I first watched a Star Wars film on the big screen, my feet could barely touch the sticky theater floor -- and so if a fun-filled, action-packed animated adventure story helps usher in a whole new legion of fans -- subsequently turning younger kids on to three live-action movies that came out, like, a billion years ago -- then right friggin' on!

Almost immediately we're clued into the fact that this big-screen Star Wars flick was gift-wrapped by another department store. That classic, drum-hoppin' 20th Century Fox intro is replaced with a much more subdued Warner Bros. logo, and the film's title swings into frame accompanied by different music. In replace of the classic story scroll, we get a newsreel-esque voiceover bringing us up to date on the main characters and their current mission. No one's trying to trick us here -- this is Star Wars for the need-it-now generation, and whereas previous films seemed to spend too much time rolling around in political-speak, Clone Wars is all about the action, the battles and the cheesy one-liners.

Take from this what you will, but Cinema Blend is reporting on a tip they received from someone who was hanging with Adam Brody in a bar up in British Columbia. What's Brody doing there? Well, apparently some of the cast is with George Miller scouting locations for Justice League Mortal. (Not sure why they'd be up there with the director scouting, but let's roll with it for now ...) Anyway, Brody, Miller and a few others were in a bar, getting wasted, when this girl (who wrote into CB) asked him what they all were doing there. Naturally he said they were scouting for Justice League Mortal (which recently had to shift production from Australia to Canada). Then it gets interesting.

Here's her full quote: "George is our director. He said he's playing The Flash, Common is playing Green Arrow (or Lantern, one or the other), Armie Hammer (sounded like Arm and Hammer) is Batman, someone from "mad max" is Martian Man-hunter (didn't catch the name) and Hayden Christensen is Superman. Brody also nodded to the woman to his right and said "she (he said her name but I didn't catch it) is in it too". Oh, and they had lots of drinks." While I'm very reluctant to believe this one, on the other hand I could totally buy them wanting Christensen to play Superman. He'd bring some more "celebrity" to the cast, even though the fanboys who hated him Star Wars would hate him again -- even more this time -- for Superman. Should be interesting to see this one play out, as Justice League Mortal is supposed to begin shooting this summer.

USA Today has scored a first look at an animated Anakin Skywalker as featured in the upcoming CGI version of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. According to USA Today, the TV series will kick off with a feature-length film which will arrive in theaters on August 15, followed by a half-hour animated series in the fall to be aired on TNT and Cartoon Network. Standing beside Anakin is a new character (whose image was recently released) called Ahsoka. She will act as Anakin's padawan (Jedi Apprentice). The film shall take place "immediately before the events in 2005's Revenge of the Sith," says the paper.

Interestingly enough, Anakin doesn't look a whole lot like Hayden Christensen did in the films (or at least he doesn't to me). His face seems more chiseled; he looks more like a man. The introduction of a padawan for Anakin should be interesting, considering there's no mention of one in Sith. I wonder how they'll get around that one considering Lucas loves to tie things together. Knowing him, he'll go back and re-edit Sith, throw someone like -- I dunno -- Miley Cyrus into the role of Ahsoka and insert her into scenes in the background. That'd be grand. But in all honesty, I'm excited for a new series (especially since I loved the old Clone Wars cartoon), and I'm definitely interested to see how it plays out. Awesome about that feature film too -- I'm sure we'll all be fighting to review it.

Lucasfilm has revealed a new character (click on the image above for a larger version), who will be part of their planned CGI-animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series. In addition to folks like Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan and Yoda, we'll get newbies like Ahsoka Tano, who comes with the following description: "This young Togruta is eager to prove herself as a worthy Padawan to her bold Master, Anakin Skywalker. Able to wield a lightsaber and pilot a spacecraft with great talent, Ahsoka promises to become a worthy Jedi." She kind of looks a little like Natalie Portman ... if Portman had weird hair and wielded a lightsaber. The new series is supposedly due out later this year, and look for more characters to be revealed in the coming weeks.

With an absurd amount of movie related lists floating around at the end of a year, I'm almost sick of talking about them by now. However, this list fascinates me because, in order to create it, one must be so glued to detail it's frightening. For the folks over at moviemistakes.com, it's their job, not to tell us how good or bad a film is, but how many times the filmmakers screwed up.

According to them, and interestingly enough, our friend George Lucas has topped yet another list, though this one has nothing to do with box office figures. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith has come in at numero uno on the Top Ten Foul-up Films of 2005. With 142 mistakes, it beats out Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds who finished with 111. An example they give in Episode III pin points a scene in which Anakin's hair changes direction (who notices this crap?) while apologising to Obi-Wan.

The Keanu Reeves film, Constantine (66), tied with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (66), while Peter Jackson's King Kong (44) rounded out the top five. I guess this goes to show that, even with the tremendous amount of detail that's shoved into a huge CGI-filled blockbuster, there are still plenty of mistakes to be had.
