'Can't Hardly Wait' Is Back 10 Years Later ... Will Amber Benson Finally Appear?

Filed under: Comedy », New Releases », Home Entertainment »

While I feel a little bit guilty about it, I love Can't Hardly Wait. It's not a huge, universally loved high school film on par with the likes of The Breakfast Club, but it is a quirky little film that nicely captured the skewed politics of high school and teen life in the '90s. And it's full of Buffy the Vampire Slayer co/guest-stars. FULL.

Seth Green - Oz - Kenny. Paige Moss - Veruca - Ashley (girl who remembers Kenny's Cheetos incident). Clea DuVall - Invisible Girl Marcie - Jana the allergic dancer. Christopher Wiehl - Owen - Horny Guy. Channon Roe - Zeppo Jack - Jake, Jock #1. Eric Balfour - Jesse - brownie licker. John Patrick White - Beastly Pete - Tassle Guy. Nicole Bilderback - a Cordette - "Ready to Have Sex Girl."

And finally, Amber Benson - Tara - Stoned Girl. Now here's the potentially awesome news: After the last disappointing release that didn't have any deleted scenes (although her role was talked about and infamous), the Tenth Anniversary release is including deleted scenes! They better include Benson's stint, or I think Elfont and Kaplan will get accosted with discs flying through the air.

Beyond that, the disc offers both the original commentary and a new one, a 10-year reunion, and some featurettes. The DVD will hit shelves on September 30. Get your pop tarts and get ready!

Lots of Deleted Performances

Filed under: Casting », Fandom », Lists »

As even the least film-dorky among us know - if only from the story of Kevin Costner's editing room transformation from Big Chill supporting actor to a body on a slab - directors shoot storylines and sequences that don't make it into the final cuts of their films. Sometimes, as with Costner, the faces that end up on the cutting room floor are very familiar ones, which inevitably leaves us wondering about what might have been. (Harrison Ford? In E.T.?!)

The folks at Film Threat recently put together a list of the Top Deleted Performances of All Time and, while the title seems wildly inappropriate (some of the performances were bad, and many have never even been seen), the list offers up ten very recognizable names who, for a variety of reasons, were relegated to the rubbish bin. Among the names on the list are such megastars as Tyrone Power, Buster Keaton, W.C. Fields, and Alain Delon (Why anyone would want to cut him out of anything is beyond me.), and the widely-varied stories behind their disappearances are fascinating and well worth a look, for trainspotters and fans alike.

Basic Instinct 2: The deleted scenes

Filed under: DIY/Filmmaking », Movie Marketing », Remakes and Sequels »

Before I begin, like the uncensored Basic Instinct 2 trailer we told you about awhile back, the scene linked to in this post is definitely NSFW (Not Safe For Work). It could also be classified as NSIFOSO (Not Safe In Front of Significant Other) or NSFATWG (Not Safe For Afternoon Tea with Grandma). Got it? You've been warned.

While our tipster claims this scene was somehow leaked onto the internet or what have you, it's pretty obvious the folks behind marketing Basic Instinct 2 are throwing some unbelievably graphic scenes from the movie out there now in an attempt to get people to show up to the theater. Sex sells, right?

According to our tipster, this is just one of a few scenes deleted from the theatrical version that will sneak online in the coming days. So, if you're at all curious to see what they would leave out of a Basic Instinct flick (Think: Three people playing Monopoly, only without the game and everyone is naked) then feel free to dive right in. Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addition hits theaters on March 31st.
