Kate Bosworth Decides to Die
Filed under: Drama », Romance », Casting », Newsstand »
And if that doesn't win Cinematical's "Fun-Filled Post Title of the Day" then I don't know what will. No, Kate Bosworth is not offing herself anytime soon, but she will be starring in a new film called Veronika Decides to Die, based off Paulo Coelho's best-selling book. Emily Young (Kiss of Life) will direct the flick, which was adapted for the screen by Larry Gross and Roberta Hanley, with Das Films, Palm Star Entertainment and Muse Films producing. And besides, Boswoth can't die -- I mean, who would they get to play Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel? (If you answered "I dunno, a better actress," then we're both on the same page with regards to that one.)
In Veronika Decides to Die, Bosworth will play a woman who discovers that she only has days to live following a suicide attempt, and after recovering in a mental hospital, tries to make the best of the time she has left by falling in love and acting out a few of those "Look, I want to live!" montages set to whatever Norah Jones song is popular at the moment. Or something like that. This will mark Das Films' first project (out of 15 they currently have pending); Muse Films has produced several enjoyable indies over the years, including Buffalo 66 (God, I love that film -- what happened to you Gallo?), The Virgin Suicides and American Psycho. Veronika Decides to Die starts filming this winter in New York.
It's a Bird. It's a Plane. It's a ... Pizza!

I admit a severe and often debilitating weakness for pizza. Really, it borders on obsession sometimes. I love it so much, in fact, I'm pretty sure I would be content to eat it almost every day. And now, according to the folks over at Comic Book Movie, I stand to gain more than just weight by catering to my pizza habit because Warner Bros. and Papa Johns are teaming up this holiday season to offer customers an exclusive deal on the Superman Returns DVD.Starting November 28th, Papa Johns' customers can purchase the new Superman Pan Pizza and while they last, all orders will include a $3 off coupon for the just-released Superman Returns DVD. Papa John's will kick off its Superman Returns promotion on the 28th with a launch event taking place in Metropolis, IL -- the adopted home of Superman.
Residents of Metropolis (and guests) in attendance at the event will get free Superman Pan Pizzas and in addition, actress Noel Neill -- who played intrepid reporter Lois Lane in the Adventures of Superman TV series opposite George Reeves -- will be on hand to kick off the festivities and devour the first slice. But wait, there's more! Attendees will also receive a free copy of the Superman Returns DVD (while supplies last). So, free pizza, free DVDs and the chance to meet Lois Lane -- not a bad combo. If I lived even remotely close to Metropolis, IL, I would definitely consider going. Sadly, unlike Superman, I can barely travel faster than a speeding ticket.
A Lois Lane Spin-Off Flick?

While all of us here in Movie News Land speculate as to whether or not there will be another Superman flick, Kate Bosworth is quietly telling Neil Sean over at Sky News that there's a lot more Lois Lane heading our way. So far we know director Bryan Singer definitely wants a sequel, with financing partners Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures slowly starting to favor another installment as well. Superman himself (Brandon Routh) has nothing better to do with his time and has repeatedly stated that if they wanted to do another one, he's game.
Well, now Kate Bosworth is promoting her return to the role of Lois Lane. Not only that, but she's talking spin-off too. Says Bosworth, "Lois will be back bigger and better in the next movie, and with more of her own storyline." The article goes on to reveal there are plans to give Lois her own "investigative spin off." Okay, not for nothing, but what good is a Lois Lane flick without Superman? Wow, let's watch as she rigorously tracks down a story, gets into trouble and has no one to bail her out. I simply cannot wait! Do any of you actually want a Lois Lane spin-off movie? If so, why?
