There's no director yet, and producers are currently looking for a hottie to play Aphrodite. "This is just the kind of franchise we love: a visually stunning world, amazing effects, a great story and a hot, kick-ass babe in the lead," producer Larry Kasanoff said. "What could be better?" If only there was a Top Cow equivalent for chicks, eh? Oh wait ... there is! It's called X-Men Origins: Wolverine and I just happen to have some very nice new, musclebound stills courtesy of X-Men Films:
Pilgrim's Progress: Superman & Many More Join the Cast

Edgar Wright's upcoming Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is a veritable puupuu platter of young talent. Some are super-recognizable -- like Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Chris Evans, and Kieran Culkin. And some are new Canadian talent thrown into the mix, like Ellen Wong. Since Mr. Pilgrim is a Canadian slacker and ex-boyfriend-slayer, we're getting a little more maple leaf talent, more recognizable faces, and a superhero to boot. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Brandon Routh has signed on to play Ramona's evil ex #3, Todd Ingram -- the rocker with vegan psychic powers, and Brie Larson (who is currently playing the struggling daughter in United States of Tara) will play Pilgrim's ex, Envy Adams. But that's only the beginning. Alison Pill (who kicked butt in Dear Wendy, and more recently served under Milk) will play the drummer in Pilgrim's band, while her Wendy co-star Mark Webber will play Stephen Stills, another bandmate. But that's not even the best reunion.
Ann Veal strikes again! Oh yes -- Mae Whitman, who played George Michael's crazy paramour on Arrested Development will play ex #4 -- the half-ninja Roxy Richter. And wrapping up the pack --- Anna Kendrick will play Pilgrim's sister, Johnny Simmons will play Young Neil, and Satya Bhabha will play "an ex-boyfriend who can summon demon hipster girls at will."
I wonder if other Can-con will follow ... Maybe some swashbuckling with Violet Miranda, or activism with Flyboy Action Figure Comes with Gasmask? Either way, I'm sold on Pilgrim. How about you?

"The girl whose face will always be etched in my mind."
As soon as I read today that Mae Whitman has taken over the voice of Tinker Bell from Brittany Murphy, I had to go back in time for a little Arrested Development. Sure, Whitman was in Independence Day, and has a whopping 69 other roles under her belt from the last 14 years, but her time as Ann Veal is, by far, my favorite.
Above is a collection of bits about Ann, as well as moments with her on the show. (Forgive the music; I don't know why it's all CSI.) Poor George Michael just wanted to be loved, and be a man. But all Michael remembers is "Yam," "Bland," "Annabelle," "Plain"... and, ultimately, he gets dumped for a certain older man.
If you want more Whitman and have no interest in Tinker Bell, she's also got parts in the upcoming films Nights in Rodanthe, Barry Munday, Spring Breakdown, and The Factory.
Brittany Murphy Ousted as Tinker Bell

Oh, the struggling and dreaded Tinker Bell movie. Two years ago, we learned that Brittany Murphy had signed on to bring words to Tinker Bell in a new series of films. Last year, there was behind-the-scenes, executive trouble. This year, in April, pictures were released. Now, poor Brit is out.Hollywood Newsroom reports that Brittany has been canned, and Mae Whitman is in. The post details all the woes with the Tink series, as well as Murphy's current decline -- from Ashton dumpage, to rumored drug use and a marriage to a man with a lot of legal trouble. This isn't exactly Disney-desired behavior, and it seems that her voice was lacking some sort of magic in the role -- not entirely surprising. Also, get this: "The story didn't work, too many fart jokes and lesbian innuendos." Fart jokes for Tink? What were they smoking when they originally put this together?
But now John Lasseter is working through this new Tink series, and one of the big changes is the voice -- Mae Whitman. HN mentions her role in Independence Day as the President's daughter, and her voice work on flicks like The Jungle Book 2, but she's also the strange teen paramour Ann Veal from Arrested Development. Remember her?
The post also includes a Lasseter-introduced clip from the upcoming movie, so you can check her out in action over at HN. Tinker Bell hits shelves this October.
