Michael Cera and Jack Black Talk About Going To 'Year One'
Filed under: Comedy », New Releases », Sony », Newsstand », Movie Marketing », Summer Movies »
The buzz might be mixed on this weekend's primitive buddy comedy Year One, but the combination of Jack Black and Michael Cera is a pretty irresistible one on-screen and off. Our friends at Moviefone caught up with the comedic duo, who were more than happy to talk about getting back to their prehistorical roots (both in the acting and follical sense of the word), define bromance, rip on each other's bad breath, and update us on the Arrested Development movie, School of Rock 2, and whether or not either of them will be doing some ghostbusting. From the sound of it, neither actor really enjoyed being a caveman thanks to feathery wigs that just never stay out of your lunch (welcome to the fun of long hair, boys!), and the close encounters with bodily excrement. When asked what time period they'd like to return to, both opted for eras of a little more refinement:
If you guys could live during any time throughout the course of history, when would it be?
Black: My favorite time in history ... the Renaissance.
Cera: I would say ... the '30s. The 1930s.
Black: The '30s? Wait, isn't that the Depression?
Cera: Like '33, that was a great age.
Black: Come on, the Renaissance! Haven't you ever been to the Renaissance fair? Don't you wish that was real life? A little mead, a little roast ...
That knowledge undoes everything girls have been taught about men! I mean, for years girls have labored under the delusion that you wanted to return to the simpler days of hunting with spears, and cooking by fire. If you prefer civilization then please, start up some petitions or websites or something to set the record straighter ...
Moviefone Goes Behind the Scenes On 'Land of the Lost'
Filed under: Action », Classics », Comedy », Sci-Fi & Fantasy », Universal », Family Films », DIY/Filmmaking », Newsstand », Movie Marketing », Remakes and Sequels », Summer Movies »

If you're as squeamish about the empty black eyes of the Sleestaks as I am, you might find this tidbit from Friel very comforting. Apparently she and her daughter Gracie had quite a thing for the lizard men: "She's only 2, but she strokes the sleestaks. They're quite handsome underneath those suits ... they're very tall. Hot sleestaks!" And the way you get into a Sleestak costume? Lots and lots of KY Jelly. (Seriously.)
If you're dying to know all about Lost before June, head over to Moviefone and check out their video and their write up. The actors address the story changes (what was once a 14 year old blonde is now a beautiful love interest), the special effects and the kitsch factor. And aren't you just dying to know what sparked jealousy off-screen between McBride, Ferrell, and Jorma "Chaka" Taccone ... and what producers did to resolve it? Go visit our Moviefone friends and find out.
What Do 'Observe and Report' and 'Freaks and Geeks' Have in Common?
Filed under: Fandom », Newsstand »
I read a story earlier (forget where exactly it was) that Seth Rogen needed oxygen after rehearsing an action scene for The Green Hornet -- and as a recovering fat kid, I totally gained more respect for this dude because, let's face it, he's not exactly the ideal action star, but he's losing weight, busting ass and risking his health to bring us a superhero flick unlike any we've seen before. In a new interview with Moviefone, Rogen talks up his voice role in Monsters vs. Aliens, as well as several other projects he has on his plate -- like Observe and Report, this summer's Funny People and, of course, The Green Hornet (which hits theaters next summer). Regarding the latter, Rogen says, "Me and Evan [Goldberg] have thought, in our writing, we'd be able to reinvent a lot of the conventions of how these superhero movies generally go -- but we want to be sure that in the visual look of the movie we'd be able to do the same thing, and having a guy like Michel Gondry pretty much guarantees that we'll be able to do that. In my head, he's kind of an unmatched visualist. He conceives of things that aren't even on other people's radars. So it's exciting."
Rogen also made a pretty interesting observation when it came to his character's past in the upcoming dark comedy Observe and Report. He notes, "Actually, after watching Observe and Report again recently, I feel like that character in a way could be a continuation of Ken from Freaks and Geeks. I do. It wouldn't surprise me if he ended up like that." Check out the rest of the interview over at Moviefone, and read about Rogen's Playboy cover, his fear of Pee-Wee's Big Adventure, his contributions to Sacha Baron Cohen's Bruno and more.

Moviefone Readers Dish Out Some Guilty Pleasures
Filed under: Fandom », Lists », Guilty Pleasures », Moviefone Feedback »
Before I talk about a "guilty pleasures" list, I'll start with the same disclaimer that everyone starts with when they talk about a "guilty pleasures" list: When it comes to entertainment, there shouldn't be any such thing as a guilty pleasure. If something is bad in an entertaining way, and you enjoy it, then so what? Just because you're enjoying it for reasons other than what the filmmaker intended (e.g., laughing at a movie that was supposed to be scary) doesn't mean you need to feel guilty about it. Now, if you tried to convince people that the movie is good -- not so-bad-it's-good, but actually GOOD -- well, then maybe your friends would question your taste. But hey, don't feel guilty. Let your freak flag fly!Now then. The handsome devils at Moviefone asked readers what their favorite guilty pleasures are, and what do you know, the readers gave them some. Most of the nominated titles are ones that very few people would defend as being legitimately good, but that apparently lots of people are able to enjoy for other reasons: Battlefield Earth (pictured), Crossroads, Coyote Ugly, etc.
Having recently re-watched Anaconda for research purposes (really!), I agree with its inclusion on the list. It fails utterly at what it was trying to do, but it sure makes me laugh, particularly Jon Voight's campy performance that sounds like Christopher Walken mixed with Zorro.
The readers offer explanations for their choices, too. For example, on Howard the Duck, "Lisa41794" says, "Lea Thompson and alien duck have sex. What's more entertaining than that ... lol." What's more entertaining than that lol indeed, Lisa41794!
Check out the list and photo gallery to see what else made the list. And feel free to tell us what your favorite guilty pleasures are in the comments below.
'Get Smart' with "The Rock"!
Filed under: Action », Comedy », Fandom », Movie Marketing », Trailers and Clips »
"Agent 23 is the greatest agent on the planet." -- Dwayne "The Rock' Johnson
Moviefone has debuted an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from this summer's Get Smart, starring Steve Carell, Anne Hathaway (is it me, or does she look GOOD in this flick?), Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Alan Arkin. Above, watch as Dwayne (Johnson? Rock?) takes us through the trials and tribulations of his character, Agent 23. As Carrell points out in the video above, "Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a formidable force. It's very emasculating to even be in a room with him because he sweats testosterone, whereas I sweat estrogen." Nice.
Watch the video above (or over on Moviefone), then head out to the theater to see Get Smart when it arrives on June 20 (trailers available here, here and here).
Moviefone Lists the Top 25 Sexiest Movie Couples
Filed under: Lists »
One of the most important pieces to the cinematic puzzle is something you cannot buy -- chemistry. It's either there, or it's not. When it is, the relationship sizzles off the screen. When it's not, the whole experience is just plain flat and boring. In honor of the former, those cinematic supercouples, Moviefone has pulled together a list of the Top 25 Sexiest Movie Couples, and they've definitely hit many different forms of coupling -- the sexy women, the sexy men, the men and women, the rich man and the hooker, and just about everything in between.Aside from Pretty Woman, there's lots of other couples to choose from. The list starts with Catherine and Antonio in the Mask of Zorro -- for that scene we all remember with the sword and the disrobing. Of course, Moviefone lists Out of Sight, the movie that makes even naysayers praise J-Lo. There's also the classic Gone with the Wind, Stella groovin' with Taye Diggs and Angela Basset, Baby in the corner, and some super-sexy postman-ringing action.
Some placements and films will probably surprise you. I was surprised how close to #25 Naomi Watts and Laura Harring's tryst in Mulholland Drive was. But what do you think is missing? Personally, out of all the old-school couples on there, it's sad to see no Spencer Tracy and Katherine Hepburn. To me, they're THE couple. (Oh, that final scene from Guess Who's Coming to Dinner...) Check out the list and sound off below!
George Clooney and John Krasinski Go Unscripted
Filed under: Comedy », Sports », Fandom », Movie Marketing », George Clooney », Trailers and Clips »
I totally think it'd be fun to hang with George Clooney for the day. Not even for the attention, the women or the chance that Perez Hilton would write silly little things all over a photo of George and I. Fact is, the guy just looks like he has a good time with life (granted, good looks and millions of dollars probably help some). Above you will find an exclusive clip from Moviefone's latest Unscripted installment featuring Mr. Clooney and his Leatherheads co-star John Krasinski.
Not only did they ask each other questions YOU left for them right here on this very blog, but they also revealed plenty in the "unscripted" questions they asked one another. Who won a thousand bucks in a one-on-one basketball game behind the scenes: Clooney or Krasinski? Whose perfect date consists of drinking and yelling? And why do the boys care so much about Fifi from San Francisco? (Where are you Fifi -- you're a star now!) Check out the clip above, then head on over to Moviefone for the entire Unscripted interview. Fun stuff.
Leatherheads tackles its way into theaters on April 4.
It's March Madness -- Time for the Best Basketball Movies Ever!
Filed under: Sports », Fandom », Lists »
Sure, you've got Hoosiers, Hoop Dreams and (my personal favorite) White Man Can't Jump, but can you name the top 20 basketball flicks of all time? Not sure I can get past eight -- so major props go out to the folks at Moviefone for coming up with a list of the 20 best basketball films of all time, in honor of March Madness. Ah, the madness of it all; the teams, the brackets, the Cinderella stories. Where would we be in life without the Final Four?
Unfortunately, Air Bud and Eddie didn't make their list, but among the top 20 we have films like The Air Up There (oh, Kevin Bacon can do more than just dance), The Basketball Diaries (drugs and b-ball don't mix so well), He Got Game (he got Denzel, Jordan and Shaq), Space Jam (because we always desperately wanted Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan to pair up on the big screen) and the recent Semi-Pro (Will Ferrell's 85th sports-related film). Of course there's a whole lot more -- including films I bet you've never heard of -- so make sure to dribble on over to Moviefone and vote for your favorites. Alternatively, feel free to enter your own write-in vote ... in case, ya know, Air Bud just happens to hit you in a personal place.
Moviefone's Spring Break Swimsuit Spectacular!
Filed under: Fandom », Lists »
If you're old and boring like me, chances are you're not heading out to some paradise for Spring Break this year. It's cool, though, because Moviefone has got you covered. They've had the unfortunate job of combing through thousands of photos, searching for the top shots of our favorite female AND male movie characters wearing their most beloved, adorable swimwear.
On the girls side, we have one of the more geek-famous shots of Princess Leia rockin' her slave bikini. (A personal favorite, if I may say so myself.) There's Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Elizabeth Hurley, Ursula Andress -- trust me, you'll want to check out this gallery. The men also get their time in the spotlight (though none of them beat my rock-solid abs). Let's see, we have dudes like Matthew McConaughey (who takes his shirt off in every film just so he can wind up on a list like this later in the year), Jesse Bradford, Sean Connery and, of course, Daniel Craig. You be the judge of which Bond looks better in a bathing suit.
Head over here to check out the ladies, and over here to check out the guys. And make sure you vote for your favorites at the end.
