There's Apparently a Wedding Scene in 'Indy 4'

Filed under: Action », Classics », Paramount », RumorMonger », George Lucas », Steven Spielberg », Remakes and Sequels »

How would you like to know everything about the next Indiana Jones movie (possibly titled Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods) before you see it in theaters next summer? If you keep up with all the reports coming from the film's set, you may just get that. Well, no, that can't be possible; Spielberg and Lucas have to be doing their best to keep enough secrets from us bloggers and location spies. Still, we've gotten a few goods from the shoot in New Haven (like these photos and this photo and this info about the next shooting location) -- not that any of them really give anything away. The latest such goodie is word that a church in New Haven will be used for a wedding scene. According to the New Haven Register (via IGN), the church will only provide exterior shots for the wedding while the interiors of the actual wedding scene will be shot in Hollywood (probably on a tightly closed studio set).

Once again we have a rumor of a hint of a bit of the film's plot, but we really know little. We don't know who is getting hitched, whether Indiana or his son or someone else. And I'm guessing that we won't know even when the exteriors are filmed. I can't imagine that if one of the main characters is the person getting married that Paramount would let such a plot point be visible to just anyone watching the shoot. I'm sure that some spies will be around, though, so we can find out soon enough. For those of us with no patience, there will hopefully be some new photos. The production is scheduled to finish up in New Haven tomorrow.

First Pics of New Haven Set for 'Indy 4'

With shooting set to begin tomorrow, you knew it was only a matter of time before someone with a camera headed over to New Haven, Connecticut to snap some photos of the retro transformation currently underway. The Unofficial Indiana Jones Movie Blog now has a gallery of pics up for you to check out; all of which were taken in and around the town of New Haven and feature exterior shots of storefronts and such. In order to make this town look more like 1957 (the year the film is apparently set), folks had to find a ton of stuff appropriate with the time period. One building on Chapel Street received an entire facelift and a huge F.W. Woolworth sign has replaced whatever was there before (supposedly a Starbucks). Other little shops simply changed up their storefront windows, adding toys and clothes along with signs that read "These are not for sale."

From what we know, Indy won't be visiting any of these stores; instead, the street will be used for a chase scene of sorts featuring Indiana Jones on a motorcycle and a couple black vans. Yet, still, a tremendous amount of detail went into making this small town feel more like the 1950s. As we previously told you, shooting will take place for 10 days (with production taking off July 1 and July 4), and, apart from these street scenes, they'll be a good amount of stuff shot on Yale's Old Campus, including newly-written scenes inside Yale Law School. While we await a ton more spy photos to pop up, feel free to check out the first photo of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, as well as video from the first day on set. Indiana Jones and the City of Gods (working title) will arrive in theaters on May 22, 2008.

Who Wants a Part in 'Indiana Jones 4?'

As most of you are already aware, The Untitled Fourth Installment in the Indiana Jones Series will be heading to New Haven, Connecticut to shoot some sort of wild chase sequence through the streets and across the Yale campus. Seeing as said scenes will call for tons of extras to "oohh" and "ahhh" while Harrison Ford's stunt double rides a motorcycle that's supposedly being chased by a group of black vans (or trucks), here is your chance to be a part of movie history. SpielbergFilms tells us there will be an open casting call at the Omni Hotel at Yale on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 from 1 p.m - 9 p.m. each day.

Each person will be required to bring a brown hat, a whip and a short Asian boy. Kidding. Or am I??? Actually, each person is required to bring a headshot with them (which sucks for those ordinary folks like myself who would love to just show up and be like, "I'm here, cast me!"), and your headshot will not be returned to you. Filming will be taking place between the dates of June 28 and July 7; no word on whether you'd have to be available for the entire time, but I assume you will be. Keep in mind the film is set (I think) in 1957, so they'll probably be looking for people who carry a '50s vibe. Oh, and you have to be over 18. If you do decide to try out, definitely let us know what the scene was like -- were there thousands of people there? What sort of questions did they ask? Anyone show up thinking it was an American Idol audition? As soon as filming is underway, Cinematical will be all over this bad boy ... so stay tuned. Indiana Jones and the Search for the Perfect Headshot will arrive in theaters on May 22, 2008.

New Haven Paper Scoops 'Indy 4' Chase Scene!

At some point last week the New Haven Herald Register realized that Indiana Jones 4 was not only about to bring a host of celebrities to their town, but also a massive amount of hits to their website. Thus, they've been doing all they can to dig up whatever scraps of filming info are out there -- but this time, they've managed to get the scoop on what sounds like a pretty pivotal set piece. In case you weren't aware, Indy 4 will be shooting a few scenes in New Haven, Connecticut from June 28 to July 6. When we first reported it last week, all we knew was that filming was to take place in town, with shop owners making changes to their storefronts so that the place looked more '50s throwback. Now, however, there's a whole lot more -- and it includes Harrison Ford playing a little Yale football. I kid you not.

Since some might deem these specifics a tad spoiler-ish, I should warn those wimpy, "shut your ears and go la la la" folks out there that they might want to skip this paragraph. That said, the scenes in question will find Indy being chased by a number of bad guys in black sedans, while our hero rides a motorcycle "through the Yale campus, up to athletic fields, where he may just catch a football for a moment of lighthearted shtick." There's been confirmation that the film will take place in 1957, and the scenes apparently call for upwards of 500 extras; most of which will be fleeing for their lives as the motorcycle and sedans speed throughout the quiet town. New Haven is so stoked about the filming that they're shutting down Temple Street on the Green for a pre-Indy festival (which includes the screening of an Indy movie) celebrating the fact that the final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise will spend a little time mucking up the place.

As far as plot goes, there's not much here that clearly backs up the info CHUD was provided with last week; although those black sedans might hold the key. Who's in the sedans? Are they government types trying to silence Indy? I'm sure more will be uncovered once filming actually begins; until then, stay tuned to Cinematical for further updates. Indiana Jones and What the Hell is This Going to Be Called arrives in theaters on May 22, 2008.

'Indy 4' Crew Setting Up Car Chase Scene in New Haven

Filed under: Action », RumorMonger », Fandom », DIY/Filmmaking », Newsstand », Remakes and Sequels »

Folks from New Haven, Connecticut finally have a reason to wake up in the morning and shout, "Heck yeah -- I'm from New Haven!" That's because it appears a little movie production is about to arrive in town; one that just so happens to go by the name of Untitled Indiana Jones Fourth Installment Adventure Series. That's right New Haven, Steven Spielberg and Co. want you! Well, actually, they don't want you -- they want your town, your streets, your shops and for you to get the hell out of the way. According to the New Haven Register (who are all over this breaking story), the production will "include some kind of car chase on Chapel between College and High streets." A car chase? In New Haven? What are the old farts up to?

As predicted, Spielberg's spokesman Martin Levy acknowledged the shooting, but said he had no details on it whatsoever. Liar! Although it is interesting to note that The Register claimed the film will star both Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Last I checked, I didn't know Connery had officially signed on. Were they speculating? Were they fed the wrong information? Or do those folks in New Haven know more about this pic than the rest of us? Although Levy refused to shell out filming dates, one local merchant said she was told production would take place on June 28 and June 30. In order to obtain the look and feel of 1950s America, the Indy 4 crew will be converting a number of local shops to fit their needs, and have asked other owners to make their storefronts look "appropriate to the era." No word yet on whether filming will take place at Yale, but apparently New Haven was chosen because "they like the look of Yale," so says Barbara Lamb, director of the city's Office of Cultural Affairs. I hope you folks over in New Haven have your cameras ready; the internet expects you to snap the first photos of our 60 year-old hero next month. Good luck!
