EXCLUSIVE: Brace Yourselves, Ladies: The Final 'Twilight' Poster!

I think I may have heard just a little buzz regarding this Twilight movie. Apparently it's based on the first book in a somewhat popular series that deals with young lovers and vampirism -- OK, I'm kidding. You can't work in the movie-news biz without knowing that Catherine Hardwicke's Twilight is one of the most hotly-anticipated films of late 2008. The project may be supported by only a few demographic groups (mainly young women and their moms, I believe), but those fans have been powerfully vocal in their excitement for this movie. Which is how it should be, if you ask me.

Twilight hits the screens on November 21, and each new bit of news has the loyal fans squeeing with delight. And so we're all very happy to give those fans their first peek at the final one-sheet. I've cropped a small section up there in the top right, but for the whole dang poster you'll have to enter ... beneath the jump! (In other words, just click on "continue reading," and maybe be prepared to change your desktop wallpaper.)

EXCLUSIVE: Brand-New Poster for Ridley Scott's 'Body of Lies'!

Filed under: Action », Drama », Thrillers », Warner Brothers »

There's a lot of cinematic power behind Warner Bros. upcoming political thriller Body of Lies: It's directed by Oscar-winner Ridley Scott (Gladiator), it's written by Oscar-winner William Monahan (The Departed), and it stars reliable talents / big-time movie stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe. Based on the novel by David Ignatius, Body of Lies tells the story of a journalist who is enlisted by the CIA to help track down a suspected terrorist. That's only the sketchiest of plot synopses, but since I haven't read the book, I'd like to enjoy Body of Lies without knowing the whole story.

And we're very pleased to bring you the very first look at the official one-sheet for Body of Lies. (It's behind the jump!) The film hits theaters on October 10 -- and since it's a Ridley Scott film, you just know I'll be there opening night. If it's half as good as Mr. Scott's last "action" film (the stellar Black Hawk Down), then I'll be a happy guy. (Click here for the poster!)

EXCLUSIVE: Final One-Sheet for 'I'm Not There'

Filed under: Drama », Fandom », The Weinstein Co. », Movie Marketing », Toronto International Film Festival », Posters »

Regardless of whether you grew up listening to the music of Bob Dylan, or perhaps overheard your parents talking about the man at the "grown-ups table" during Thanksgiving dinner, director Todd Haynes has taken hold of the Dylan myth and brought his extraordinary vision to the big screen -- starring some of our favorite actors working today, all of whom play Bob Dylan. I know, it's confusing, but I have a feeling you'll totally dig it. Cinematical is happy to present the final one-sheet for Haynes' flick I'm Not There (click on the poster for a larger image), in which folks like Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere and Cate Blanchett all take on a different and unique version of Dylan in order to present you with a film unlike any arriving in theaters this fall.

I'm Not There recently screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where our own James Rocchi had this to say: "I'm Not There is so sleek and stylish as to nearly disappear from sight as you're watching it. But at the same time, you recognize the pleasure of the cleverness -- the gall of looking at one of America's pop cultural icons through a fractured lens and, yes, at the end, bringing it all back home. Now and then I'm Not There feels like an extended, inventive inside joke with a soundtrack to die for." Man, the Dylan nut in me is itching to see this one. I'm Not There opens in theaters on November 21, and, additionally, you can listen to James' interview with director Todd Haynes over here.

EXCLUSIVE: 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian' Official One-Sheet

Filed under: Action », Disney », Fandom », Family Films », Movie Marketing », Remakes and Sequels », Posters »

Boy, do we have a whopper of a poster premiere today, folks. Courtesy of Walt Disney Pictures, Cinematical is happy to bring you the first official one-sheet (click poster for larger image) for The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Directed once again by Andrew Adamson, Prince Caspian is a follow-up to the highly-successful The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe -- and seeing as you folks shelled out more than $730 million to watch that flick, I'd say you're probably pretty stoked about the sequel. This time around, the Pevensie siblings (Peter, Lucy, Susan and Edmund) once again return to the magical land of Narnia, only to learn that 1300 years have passed in Narnian times since their last adventure. Not only that, but Narnia is now under the control of the evil King Miraz; a man who's plotting to rid himself of one Prince Caspian (Ben Barnes), his nephew and the rightful heir to the throne, so that he can be replaced by Miraz's newborn son. Now, it's up to those pesky Pevensie kids to locate their friend Aslan (Liam Neeson), aid Prince Caspian, defeat Miraz and restore magic and glory to the land of Narnia. Of course, they'll have a little help along the way. The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian arrives in theaters on May 16.

EXCLUSIVE: Official One-Sheet for 'Love in the Time of Cholera'

Filed under: Drama », Romance », New Line », Movie Marketing », Posters »

New Line was nice enough to provide Cinematical with the exclusive one-sheet for Love in the Time of Cholera (click on the poster for a larger version), based on Nobel Prize-winning author Gabriel García Márquez's novel of the same name. Adapted for the screen by Oscar winner Ronald Harwood (The Pianist) and directed by Mike Newell (Donnie Brasco, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), Love in the Time of Cholera tells the tale of two lovers, Florentino Ariza (Javier Bardem) and Fermina Daza (Giovanna Mezzogiorno), one more obsessed than the other, who part ways at an early age to live two very different lives. The film then tracks each over the years (we're talking late 19th century through the first decades of the 20th century), while Fermina settles down with a doctor (Benjamin Bratt) her father forces her to wed and Florentino engages in 622 affairs (not kidding about that) in an attempt to mask the pain he feels due to the one that got away. Also starring in this sure-to-be-an-Oscar-contender are Liev Schreiber, John Leguizamo, the very lovely (and talented) Catalina Sandino Moreno and Hector Elizondo. Love in the Time of Cholera (which also happens to be one of my favorite titles of all time for a number of reasons -- love is but a disease, after all) arrives in theaters on November 16.

EXCLUSIVE: Final One-Sheet for Tyler Perry's 'Why Did I Get Married'

Filed under: Comedy », Drama », Romance », Lionsgate Films », Fandom », Movie Marketing », Posters »

And, honestly, that's a question most of us married folk ask ourselves (and our friends, and our family, and that stranger in the bathroom) from time to time -- only to arrive home one night, catch a glimpse of that smile and realize it was the best decision we've ever made. (Erik wipes away a tear.) Except when that son of a bleep cheats with that bleeping bleeper, and you find yourself bleeping pissed. What happens next? Cinematical has just received the final one-sheet for Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married (click on the poster for a larger image), based on Perry's stage play of the same name. Returning to the big screen for the first time in seven years, Janet Jackson stars as one half of a couple who decide to attend a therapeutic help-our-marriage retreat, but find complications when one of the other wives brings along a sexy young temptress.

As with Perry's last film, Daddy's Little Girls, there's no dressing up in drag here -- however, Perry does co-star in the flick, alongside Jackson, Jill Scott, Denise Boutte, Richard T. Jones and Sharon Leal. Part comedy, part drama -- and part Jackson (yum) -- Why Did I Get Married arrives in theaters on October 12.

EXCLUSIVE: Final One-Sheet for 'Control'

Filed under: Drama », Independent », Music & Musicals », Cannes », Movie Marketing », Toronto International Film Festival », Cinematical Indie », Posters »

Cinematical was lucky enough to land the final one-sheet for the award-winning (and highly-anticipated) drama Control, which marks the feature film directorial debut of photographer and visual artist Anton Corbijn. Control follows the life and times of Ian Curtis (Sam Riley), the enigmatic lead singer of the British band Joy Division. The film has already won tons of praise following its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, where our own James Rocchi had this to say: "I joke that any rock and roll film can be judged solely on how fiercely it makes you want to go to the record shop immediately afterwards, but Control doesn't just capture the music of Joy Division; it brings Ian Curtis off the posters, out of the speakers, and in doing so rescues a man from his own myth." Control has already snagged one award in Cannes, as well as two more (Michael Powell award for Best New British Feature, PGA Award for Best Performance in a British Film -- Sam Riley) at the Edinburgh Film Festival back in August. Control will begin its screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival tomorrow night, and is set to arrive in theaters on October 10.

EXCLUSIVE: Final One-Sheet for '3:10 to Yuma'

Filed under: Drama », Lionsgate Films », Fandom », Movie Marketing », Images », Western »

Heck yeah -- I cannot wait to see this movie! Cinematical has been handed the final one-sheet for the upcoming 3:10 to Yuma remake, starring Christian Bale and Russell Crowe. If being able to watch two of the finest actors of this generation square off against one another on the big screen isn't enough, then you might want to know that the film is also directed by James Mangold -- whose last flick, Walk the Line, won all sorts of praise (and a few Oscars, if I recall). In the film (which is based on a short story by Elmore Leonard, and a remake from 1957), Bale plays a small-time rancher who's placed in charge of watching a recently-captured outlaw (Crowe) while they await the 3:10 train to Yuma, where said outlaw is scheduled to appear in court. As you can probably imagine, things don't go so well from there. For more on the film, check out our coverage of the ComicCon poster, a couple still photos and the trailer. 3:10 to Yuma arrives in theaters on September 7.

EXCLUSIVE: First and Final One-Sheet for George Clooney's 'Michael Clayton'

Filed under: Drama », Thrillers », Warner Brothers », Movie Marketing »

While all you women out there might be a bit miffed over the fact that red lettering is taking away from a crystal clear picture of the overly hunk-ish George Clooney, I happen to think it looks great. Warner Bros. has supplied Cinematical with the first and final one-sheet for Clooney's upcoming drama/thriller Michael Clayton (click on the poster for a larger version), and I certainly dig it. In the film, Clooney plays Michael Clayton; an in-house "fixer" at a major law firm. Basically, when someone screws up, they send this guy in to, well, fix it. Problem is, Clayton has issues of his own to deal with (a divorce, a failed business, lots of debt -- essentially, it appears his entire life is out of focus; hence the image), and when a lawyer at his firm sabotages a multi-million dollar class action suit, guess who's job it is to clean up the mess? And what a mess it is ...

Michael Clayton also marks the directorial debut of writer Tony Gilroy, who previously penned all three Bourne films, as well as another great law flick, The Devil's Advocate ("Free will, right?"). Joining Clooney in the film (which debuted a trailer back in May) are Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton and the great Sydney Pollack. Is it just me, or do I smell Oscar season on the horizon? Michael Clayton arrives in theaters on October 5th.

EXCLUSIVE: First and Final One-Sheet for 'Grace is Gone'

Filed under: Drama », Sundance », The Weinstein Co. », Movie Marketing », Images »

The good folks over at The Weinstein Co. have provided Cinematical with an exclusive look at the first and final one-sheet for John Cusack's upcoming drama, Grace is Gone (click on the poster for a larger image). Not only have I heard that Cusack is exceptional (and perhaps Oscar-worthy) in his role, but the poster also confirms that Clint Eastwood, as previously rumored, did indeed re-score the film. Interesting. Grace is Gone follows a man (Cusack) who, after finding out his wife was killed in the Iraq war, decides to take his two daughters on a road trip to an amusement park because he can't quite figure out how to tell them their mother has passed on.

Our own James Rocchi reviewed the film when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and had this to say: "Grace is Gone has the look of life, and the glow of art. The film is as affecting -- and as ultimately human -- as one might hope, and it still brings home the ugly real fact that for too many Americans, the evening news isn't just background noise." Additionally, Cinematical's Scott Weinberg (who also caught the flick last winter) adds: "Melted the heart of this cynical jerk. Guaranteed to make my year-end Top 10." Grace is Gone arrives in theaters on October 5. Oh, and don't forget to bring those tissues -- I'm getting choked up just writing about it.
