Plot Details on the First 'Futurama' Movie!

Filed under: Animation », Comedy », Sci-Fi & Fantasy », 20th Century Fox », Home Entertainment », Comic/Superhero/Geek », Remakes and Sequels »

I know, I know. Just last week I posted something about the four all-new Futurama movies that are being produced for the home video market, but there was an event at the San Diego Comic Con that went well-reported by Home Media Magazine, and I was just too nerded out to contain myself. Most importantly, we have a DVD release date for Bender's Big Score!. And that release date is November 27.

I have no idea if the Cinematical guys made it over to the Con's Futurama exhibit (although I do hope so), but here's what went down: Futurama actors Katey Sagal (Leela), Billy West (Fry, Zoidberg, Farnsworth, etc.), John DiMaggio (Bender) and Maurice LaMarche (Kif, Morbo, Calculon, etc.) were on hand to "act out" some of the material from a "Futurama Returns" comic book that was available at the event. Sounds like a lot of fun, actually, and I hope HMM is right when they assume that this appearance will show up on a future DVD release. Apparently this comic book (which I WANT A COPY OF!) bridges the gap between the final Futurama episode (The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings) and the opening of Bender's Big Score!. (It's Groening's exclamation point, not mine.)

'Rambo IV' Plot Outline Released by Studio

Filed under: Action », Lionsgate Films », Remakes and Sequels »

We all know what's most important in a Rambo movie: The plot. (Crickets.) OK, I'm kidding. True, the original First Blood definitely had a plot. A fairly simple one, but a story all the same. Rambo 2 and 3? I've seen each of 'em two or three times and I swear I couldn't tell you the "plot" on either one. Generally the "plot" in these movies exists just to set up a few disposable allies, a stunningly evil villain and 45 truckloads of soon-to-be-dead henchmen. But that hasn't stopped the Rambo 4 producers from doling out a press release / plot synopsis.

"In Thailand, a group of Christian aid workers recruit John Rambo to guide them up the Salween River to deliver medical supplies to the Karen tribe of neighboring Burma (aka Myanmar). When the missionaries fail to return, Rambo is persuaded to take a group of mercenaries back into the war-torn border region to find them. What follows is a descent into hell on earth." Ouch. I bet Burma has some nice areas, too. It's not all "hell on earth," I'm sure.

John Rambo (yep, that's the title) marks Sylvester Stallone's 20th screenplay and 7th time as a director. Co-starring in the inevitably chaotic action-fest will be Julie Benz, Matthew Marsden and Sai Mawng as "Burmese Commander." Lionsgate looks to be aiming for a December release date. Because nothing goes better with Christmas than Sly Stallone's bullet-spewing semi-automatic AK 57 tank-demolishin' rocket launchers.

Brace Yourself for the 'Bloodrayne 2' Teaser

Not since the days of Billy the Kid Meets Dracula and Jesse James Meets Frankenstein's Daughter has there been a promise of a Western / Horror amalgam as outrageous as Uwe Boll's BloodRayne 2. (It really is amazing how quickly Boll churns these things out. Far as I can tell, he's got Dungeon Siege, Postal, Seed and BloodRayne 2 finished or nearly finished. God helps us all.) But this one seems to have it all: Vampire vs. cowboys, horror mixed with action (inevitably mixed with a lot of comedy), Michael Pare as Pat Garrett, Zack Ward as a vampiric Billy the Kid (pictured), and even a brand-new Rayne! Natassia Malthe replaces Kristanna Loken as the titular terror tracker.

Someone over at Boll's production company recently sent a plot synopsis over to the gorehounds at Bloody-Disgusting.com, and I can tell it comes from one of Boll's people because the text is sprinkled with sloppy grammar and spelling errors. (Could Boll be so prolific as to pen his own plot synopses? Based on the mild mangling of the English language, I believe it.) I'll paste the whole synopsis in after the jump (because it's pretty hilarious), but the short version is this: BloodRayne and Garrett do battle with the vampire Billy the Kid and his blood-sucking cronies. What, you expected Oscar Wilde?

No word yet on when BloodRayne 2 will be available for our ceaseless amusement, but I can't freaking wait for Boll to unleash his newest flicks already. I'm long past the point where I don't like the guy anymore, and I look forward to his flicks like an unkind pet owner looks forward to feeding his puppy beer and then watching the animal stumble into walls and trip over things. Few things in the world are as reliable as a Uwe Boll movie. Reliably, wonderfully bad, that is. Until BR2 hits your Walmart's bargain bin, check out this teaser trailer.

Aliens and Predators and Tractors! Oh Yay.

Filed under: Action », Sci-Fi & Fantasy », 20th Century Fox », Comic/Superhero/Geek », Remakes and Sequels »

Despite the fact that I can't find ONE person who really liked the thing, 2004's Alien vs. Predator grossed just over $80 million at the domestic box office while face-hugging another $90 million from the overseas cinegeeks before selling like goo-coated flapjacks at the video shops. Which means sequel city, of course.

One of the planet's most passionate horror freekz (we call him The Arrow) caught wind of a newly-released plot synopsis for Alien vs. Predator 2, and here's what the logline looks like: "In this follow-up to the worldwide hit (AVP), the iconic monsters from two of the scariest film franchises ever, wage war in an American Midwestern town - with the residents caught in the middle." This synopsis came from the offical Fox website, which means Erik Davis' earlier reports have been confirmed. There will be cows.

So with the Alien and the Predator heading into Leatherface country, it only stands to reason that everyone's favorite skin-lovin' cannibal should get his very own outer space adventure. (Hold on while I go register that synopsis with the WGA.) Alien vs. Predator 2 will be directed by first-timer bro-team Colin & Greg Strause, and written by Shane Salerno, who wrote not only Shaft, but Armageddon too (along with a dozen other guys).
